The bad: Noticeable shutter lag; controls take some getting used to; no optical zoom in Movie mode.

BEST DIGITAL CAMERA EVER
by bryanoldman on December 31, 2008
Pros: FANTASTIC LENS AND ZOOM, EASY TO USE, NICE BIG SCREEN TO VIEW PICTURES. BEST QUALITY PICTURES OF ANY POINT AND SHOOT.
Cons: A TOUCH WOULD BE NICE, BUT REMEMBER THIS CAMERA CAN NOT BE BEAT WHEN IT COMES TO PICTURE QUALITY.
Summary: I HAVE HAD A NIKON COOL PIX, WHICH I RETURNED DUE TO POOR QUALITY PICTURES. I ALSO HAVE A CANNON EOS 30D WHICH ALSO A GREAT CAMERA, BUT TO BE ...
Summary: I HAVE HAD A NIKON COOL PIX, WHICH I RETURNED DUE TO POOR QUALITY PICTURES. I ALSO HAVE A CANNON EOS 30D WHICH ALSO A GREAT CAMERA, BUT TO BE HONEST THE LUMIX POINT AND SHOOT IS MORE PORTABLE AND JUST AS GOOD.

Very Disappointed
by Mush22 on April 11, 2009
Pros: Good shot to shot flash recycle, decent start up,comfortable feel, easy navigation, quick battery charging,. A sweet camera in the feature department, EXCEPT..............
Cons: Picture quality is poor. I had trouble trying to get more than one or two pictures that were good. The white balance seems to be erratic. There were spots that would show up from time to time in the pictures.Indoor shooting was troublesome.
Summary: This was my first digital camera purchase after looking for a year for something with the features I required and I have to say that I think I will stay ...
Summary: This was my first digital camera purchase after looking for a year for something with the features I required and I have to say that I think I will stay with my old 35mm film camera. I was hoping that this camera would work out because I really liked it but if the picture quality is poor then everything else means nothing. Outdoors the quality was much better but I had much trouble trying to get the photos to come out nice indoors. They always seem to look orange or even have spots in some places. I changed settings and even the white balance to try and combat this problem but I only got one or two decent pictures. I returned this camera after trying it out for a week.

Summary: I just get this camera today. I LOVE it. very nice compact camera. Great pictures to. Also if you are taking a action photo comes out great. I like to ride horses and the pictures come out great. I did A LOT of looking around for cameras. This defiantly cought my eye. I took a couple of videos. They were a little noisy but that was probably because i was shaking the camera.
Get this camera you will not regret it. Great for videos and pictures. -

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Panasonic
- Part number: DMC-FX500K
- Description: The DMC-FX500 Lumix compact digital camera features a hybrid control system that combines joystick control with touch-screen operation. Use the joystick for basic settings and the touch-screen for others like AF/AE, manual operation and slideshow functions, which can be adjusted by touching or moving a slider on the screen with your finger or with the included stylus pen. With both a bright F2.8 25mm wide-angle Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens and a 5x zoom, this is one camera that does it all. The sophisticated lens system lets you capture dramatic images that convey an impressive sense of breadth and depth - remarkable for such a compact camera. The 5x zoom is great for small or distant subjects, and there's also an extra optical zoom function that boosts zoom power to 8.9x in 3 megapixel resolution mode. Set the FX500 to iA mode and let the five intelligent auto functions team up to help prevent shooting errors. Intelligent exposure corrects lighting differences, so images come out just the way you see them, intelligent scene selector chooses the mode that best fits the situation, MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S.) helps prevent blurring from hand-shake, intelligent ISO control helps prevent motion blur, and face detection helps produce clear portraits by optimizing the focus and exposure settings.
