The good: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is an easy-to-use rugged point-and-shoot with some extra exposure control that you won't find on others in its class.
The bad: The TS4's photo quality and performance don't improve much from its predecessor, the TS3. It has a somewhat small, low-resolution LCD compared with competing models.
The bottom line: While it doesn't offer much for upgraders, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is still a very good rugged camera.

A nice UW camera but...
by BakatariTom on November 9, 2012
Pros: Very good photo quality compared to other UW cameras.
Very good movie quality and sound compared to other UW cameras.
Spare, proprietary batteries were easy to find and relatively inexpensive (<$20 each).Cons: Zoom engine died after power button and zoom button were simultaneous pressed during startup.
Slow GPS refresh when power-saving mode was used.
Needs ability to charge batteries from solar panel or ext'l USB battery when on extended tripSummary: All-in-all, this camera fulfilled its mission in conditions where very few cameras could. It took very good pictures and movies of a "once in a life-time" trip with my son ...
Summary: All-in-all, this camera fulfilled its mission in conditions where very few cameras could. It took very good pictures and movies of a "once in a life-time" trip with my son in the Boundary Waters. We canoed and portaged almost 80 miles, played in waterfalls, swam, fished, took movies and photos of wildlife underwater and jumped off cliffs into lakes. Unfortunately, it died several months later from a weird circumstance unrelated to that mission. Would I recommend this camera? Yes. In fact, I've ordered another one. Why two stars? Well... the zoom engine failure shouldn't have happened. But let's face it... digital cameras have a finite life anyway. Two years... three? We'll see how Panasonic's warranty service performs.
Everyone spending time outdoors fishing, camping (in the rain!), boating or snorkeling should try this camera. -
Extremely disappointing picture quality
by Mil352 on August 23, 2012
Pros: Excellent marketing. very appealing product features
Compact and light
Easy to handle and to operateCons: Bad autofocus (doesn't operate under water)
Extremely poor picture quality (colour and contrast)
Lense fogges even without underwater useSummary: Don't trust your precious holiday souvenirs to this camera. The idea behind the product is brilliant but the execution needs a lot of improvements.
Wait for the next generation. ...Summary: Don't trust your precious holiday souvenirs to this camera. The idea behind the product is brilliant but the execution needs a lot of improvements.
Wait for the next generation. This is just a lousy camera in a water- and shockproof box
