The good: A small-bodied interchangeable-lens model with excellent video, the Sony Alpha NEX-5N also offers some nice features, including a tilting LCD, EVF port, and a hybrid touch-screen/traditional interface.
The bad: The user interface won't be to everyone's taste, and the body feels almost too small for the typical E-mount zoom lenses.
The bottom line: An especially good option for people who want a relatively inexpensive ILC for shooting video, the Sony Alpha NEX-5N's photo quality's about the same as its cheaper sibling's.

Great camera !! Not Enough Credit given!
by elkendier on September 15, 2011
Pros: It has great video but also great low light picture taking. The APS-C sensor really does well in low light.
Cons: Menus take getting used to

Summary: In her review she claims that there is equal if not better performance from cheaper cameras. I could not disagree more, although this isn't the same image quality as my girlfriends 7D it still comes REALLY close and with a good lens, possible a Lecia with a lens adapter this could be a great camera for the avid SLR user on vacation.

Pros: APS-C sensor. Light and small but functional.
Cons: Touch screen is not so sensitive as you hope.

Ditch the Mirror
by NickHendrix on February 20, 2012
Pros: FANTASTIC image quality and low-light performance. Small, light, yet remarkably durable thanks to an alloy body. Easy to handle. Excellent quality rear screen. A++
Cons: Lack of lenses. I keep my Zeiss 24 on there ALL the time. I returned the Sony-branded zoom. There was just no comparison. Eagerly awaiting more Zeiss glass(Im looking at YOU portrait lens!)

Summary: If you've ever found yourself annoyed at having to hit the live view button all the time, and railed at having to tote around pounds of camera just to get a quality image then search no more! The 5n (with the ESSENTIAL Zeiss 24mm) is my favorite camera. If your nuts for zooms or viewfinders then there is a world of cameras out there you might like better. I wouldn't fret too much about the 5n vs. the 7. The 7 is bigger and noisier. The manual functionality is seamless on the 5n. It just takes a few minutes to get used to spending half a second pressing down to swap between F/stop and shutter. I put ISO on a quick button and im out the door!

Little Guy, Big Heart

Pros: IQ, Versatility, APS-C sensor all in its compact glory
Cons: No audio inputs, the lack of physical dials and buttons

Summary: I have to disagree as well. In regards to the sensor, the NEX-5N is in the same league as the Nikon D7000, Pentax K-5 (same APS-C 16.1 megapixel senor by Sony) The GF3 on the other hand is a 4/3 sensor. Much smaller, meaning less dynamic range and low light capabilities. It might as well be a good camera in its class but it's no better performer in IQ wise compared to the NEX-5N.
