It's a great camera!
by zipster94 on February 14, 2010
Pros: Great picture quality, small and slim, good zoom
Cons: Uses Sony's proprietary Memory Stick Pro, only 3x zoom, Smile Shutter takes a long time to recognize
Summary: Overall, this is a great camera after being stuck with the horrible Kodak EasyShare CD33. I would rate it 5 stars if it used SDHC, had at least a 6x ...

Cons: Blurry Pics

Summary: Many people buy this camera simply because it lookes nice enough, and it's cheap. But really, you may as well have no camera if the pictures suck. They always come out blurry, sometimes the quality turns out OK but usually it's grainy, and there is no way to predict what the focus will do.
My mom bought me this camera impulsively, and I guess it shows that you can never buy electronics without doing some sort of research.
Do not buy this! Waste of cash!
I would have rated it lower but for some reason CNET won't let me. -

by cheefoong on July 19, 2009

Summary: This is a first camera that i buy (a birthday gift for my girl friend), and i had give it to my girl friend (she is so disapointed when findout a problem with the camera), but the luckly things is i brought it from the Sony retail shop and not from others (i think others camera shop will not exchange or refund for me even the camera have problem).
The first one W180 i get having problem of taking photo, when i try it from shop, it was ok, after i take it home and playing with the feature of the camera, it was ok in the begining, unluckly after few photo taken the problem start coming out (i use the auto always and never change the setting), the result of the photo become very bad, look like taken a photo to the analog monitor, with a dithering line on the photo. I took more than 10 photo with the same result, and i start trying the setting and so on, but its seem nothing to do with the setting (since i never change the setting and always use auto), but i still trying. I even try to restart the camera few time and try but still no luck. After a few try, i almost give up and decide to bring it back to the shop. After few minutes (the camera was turn off), i try again with hopeless, but this time the captured photo come with good result again, since this happening, i still have to bring it back to the shop and see what happen. After a day i bring it back to the shopkeeper to look for the bad quality photo taken, they also can't tell what is going on because when i bring back to the shop, the photo taken was ok. After this they willing to exchange a new one for me (of course im' very happy), and i try in the shop with more shot of photo, it was ok also and take it away from the shop. I still can't feel ease in my mind, so i try to play around the functionallity of the camera again.
This is the second one i try, its working fine in the begining, and i try around 50 photo capturing, then i think i can stop the testing and bring it to my girlfirend, but i still playing some setting, i try to turn on the grid, and taken some photo again, it was find initially, after a while, i can see 1 vertical line when i view the photo captured (on the LCD), firstly i thought is because i turn on the grid, and i try to turn it off, but after i turn off the grid, the line was still there, i try to turn on and off the camera, but the line is not disapear. I have no choice and have to bring it back to the shop again and show it to the shopkeeper, the shopkeeper thought is because of the light may cause that you see this line, but shouldn't be like this, this is some death color on the pixel, and not only 1 dot, its 1 vertical line...., after the shopkeeper discuss with their colleague (im' not sure is colleague or supervisor or boss), and they decided to refund for me. Finally i decide to buy another more expensive model (T90), and the shopkeeper tell me that the W180 not make it Japan (im' not sure is correct, but i try to look around the W180 camera, i really can't find the 'make in where' stated), but the T90 is stated 'make in Japan'0 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.
