I have taken a lot more photos and videos with this camera, and I am becoming more disappointed with the photo quality. Any straight line (street markings, power lines, building edges) is coming out pixelated, no matter what setting I choose. I am sorry, but this is just unacceptable, and I have never seen such consistently poor results in other digital cameras.
The video quality seems to be great (as long as there is adequate lighting), but some colors are washed out.
If you are looking for High Resolution photo quality, this is not the camera to get, and it is really hard to beat Canon digital cameras in this area.
The 8MP camera in my smart phone takes better photos than this Sony DSC-TX100V.
I had seriously considered the Sony DSC-HX9V, which is top-rated. But I owned a Sony DSC-HX5V before, and I sold it because I was disappointed with the photo quality.
This Sony DSC-TX100V seemed like a less expensive option compared to the Sony DSC-HX9V, but with almost all of the same features.
Even though I find myself taking more videos now, photo quality is still very important to me. With this Sony DSC-X100V, I was disappointed with some digitization and background blur.
The 3D and GPS are fun features, but that is all they are, and I will take better photo/video quality over those any day.
In testing many 3D photos, I really did not notice that much difference from 2D on my 3D display and TV.
And the GPS is slow to get a signal, plus the benefits of tracking where you took a picture do not outweigh the battery-life it uses.
My vote is for the Canon PowerShot S100, but it is still too expensive at $400+.

Also, I discovered that the videos can really only be viewed on or with the camera. Otherwise, you have to install special software to convert to MP4 or other format, in which case you lose some video quality. Another reason not to keep this camera, and I am glad I am still within the 30 days.
Even though they are more expensive for what you get, I definitely have seen the reason to stay with Canon digital cameras.
Updated on Mar 19, 2012After spending a considerable amount of time via online chat, and on the phone with Sony Technical Support, I discovered some changes that yield better results. The best photo quality is achieved when using the 4:3 ratio 16MP setting rather than 16:9 12MP, and Superior Auto+ is better than Intelligent Auto for quick snapshots. Better video quality seems to be with the lesser 30p MP4 format rather than the 60p AVHCD, especially for videos going to computer or Internet. Computer or HDTV resolution and color depth can affect picture/video viewing. -
