The good: Revolutionary Google TV software enables potential access to virtually all online media with a powerful interface; excellent wireless keyboard; user interface overlays over TV content from cable/satellite box; can control TV, AV receiver, and cable/satellite box with built-in IR emitters; Google search bar looks through both online and offline content; built-in Chrome browser that supports Flash and HTML5 video; streams music, videos, and photos from a connected PC or DLNA device; Android Marketplace coming in 2011.
The bad: Major content providers like Hulu, CBS, and ABC are currently blocking Google TV; user interface geared toward power users; Google's "universal" search doesn't search Netflix; antiquated Netflix interface; limited app selection at launch; expensive compared with simpler devices like Apple TV and Roku XDS; too many bugs with current software; significant network performance issues with our review sample; doesn't work with older, non-HD TVs.

I don't buy cable or satellite, and this device allows me to get all the functionality of a full fledged media center pc but with a better interface and integration.

Pros: great concept, youtube and netflix work great
Cons: horrible for the internet! no right click capability, only plays limited video file types, no adobe acrobat reader, pages load slow on the internet, constant crashes, freezes up too often and needs to reboot, need hdmi output on cable box.
Summary: would be better off buying a computer tower and wireless keyboard/mouse set-up to hook up to your tv. buying this thing was nothing but a $300 waste of money! ...

Cons: need set-top box w/hdmi out -> unforseen additional expense to hook up my RFAntennaCable - will not recognize direct connect to TV! -

Pros: pretty decent integration with Dishnetwork; great resolution on multimedia internet content; decent chrome browser;decent response overall
Cons: limited content (wait until marketplace is available); buggy when it comes to downloading movies from netflix. feels like web tv since the content is light. This product will die if content is not added.

The product pretty much works but there is a lot of frustration when it comes to movie download from netflix. It times out a lot and. I was impressed by the quality of the videos on my JVC HD TV. Save yourself some cash and buy it when it is already baked.

Nuanced and detailed review of Logitech Revue

Pros: Android app allows control of the Revue. This application gives the same control over the Revue as the keyboard. This application does a good job controlling the Revue as well as becoming a full functioning universal remote for the other components.
Cons: The problem presents itself when using Dolby Digital. Recievers decode the incoming signal from the Revue as 5.1 or 7.1, but the Revue is really outputting L/R audio only within the 5.1 stream. Receivers are stuck with stereo or mono.

The Revue companion box is very light and is completely black with two green lights on the front. On the rear, there is an HDMI input and output, a pair of USB connectors, an optical digital output and an ethernet connection. There also is a pair of IR Blaster ports for the included IR Blaster if needed. Lastly, we have the power connection and a Logitech "sync" button for pairing up additional Logitech equipment.
The Logitech keyboard is very light. Holding it for an extended period of time is not a problem. The keys feel very good and are easy to type on. The track pad is extremely responsive, easily equivalent to a good laptop trackpad. On the bottom of the keyboard is a rubber pad that prevents the keyboard from sliding. Two "AA" batteries are pre-installed under the rubber pad and are easily accessible.
A HDMI cable connects the digital cable/sat box to the Revue companion box and the output of the companion box connects to a HDMI input on the TV. You can connect to the internet with either a direct connection to a router or through Wi-Fi.
Setting up the Google TV
The software setup is very straightforward and well laid out. All the navigation of the setup menus can be controlled by either the the trackpad or the navigation controls on the keyboard.
The initial setup can take up to 30 minutes while you gather up all the model numbers of your equipment. This setup included signing onto or creating a Google account, programming the ability to control other devices like the TV, informing the Revue if a cable box is in use and lastly setting up your internet connection.
On the first setup I tested, the Revue included a Samsung TV and an Onkyo Receiver. The entire process went extremely smooth. Each setup question from the Revue clearly explains what is needed next. Afterwards, the Revue keyboard could control the power of the TV as well as the power and volume of the receiver.
The second setup included a Sony Bravia TV, a Sony home theater in a box system and a Direct TV DVR HD box. Reconfiguring the entire setup for the different TV and receiver was also effortless and quick. Setting up the DVR / HD box was similar to the TV / receiver setup. The Revue asked the model number of the box and what type of service was available and the rest was automatic.
The UI and Google TV
The Home screen consists of a list of available sections on the left side with a grid of boxes taking 3/4 of the right of the screen. A clock is also visible in the top right corner of the screen.
The default sections include Bookmarks, Applications "What's On" television section, Netflix and more. Any other sections can be added from an edit button in the bottom left corner of the screen. The boxes on the right will display logos of available channels and web sites that you have bookmarked.
On the keyboard, between the space bar and the left control key is the "Search" button. This button is always active and brings up a toolbar at the top of the screen where you can type in anything. The Revue searches the Internet and TV boxes for the terms and list them on the screen. Entering a URL will take you to the flash enabled web browser while entering a TV show title will bring up videos and a list of when the show will be on TV.
On the keyboard, next to the volume buttons are the shortcuts for the TV, the Cable Box Guide and the DVR. These make it extremely easy and quick to jump around from TV to the Internet.
Surfing the Internet and watching TV works well with the picture and picture feature. This makes multitasking really easy and the video quality doesn't take a dip while miniaturized. The Revue can play live TV with internet video simultaneously with no hiccups. I noticed there is no master control for controlling the sound of internet video and TV sound separately, but at least the flash video's sound control still works so volume can be controlled there. The TV's audio is always active.
The overall video quality of the Revue is excellent. HD videos in YouTube or Netflix were crisp and clear. Standard buffering rules still applys here so good high quality HD streaming requires a good incoming internet speed. I was running the Revue primarily over Wi-Fi and did encounter some stops when running 720p video. Good SD signals rivaled the quality found on standard DVDs.
The Revue comes preloaded with several channels compatible with Google TV including YouTube, NetFlix, Vevo, Amazon VOD and many others to get users started. YouTube and Vevo videos channels can play continuously creating a little TV channel for you.
Audio Problems
On of my concerns with the Revue is the audio output. The box outputs either Linear PCM or Dolby Digital from the optical connection. The problem presents itself when using Dolby Digital.

Great Features but Stalls and Buggy

Pros: Great access to Web and apps
Cons: Buggy. Many apps stall, and it now won't control my TV or Cable box via the keyboard. SUPER annoying, particularly to non-techie wife.

Pros: It does allow you to surf the web on your TV, and the keyboard is nice.
Cons: There is no Toolbar at the tops of pages (or GOOGLE) search, you have to exit to look for stuff. No bookmarks

No Microphone? Really? No external mouse? The mouse pad does not "tap" you have to push the button? You HAVE to use the app (which is archaic) to actually VIEW netflix. You can go to the web address for netflix to have a better experience though. When you minimize your TV, you lose control of that minimized window (except for volume). One thing that is REALLY annoying is no toolbar when you are browsing, no "Search", no NOTHING. I mean it's GOOGLE TV! How can you NOT have a Google search at the top of each webpage? No bookmarks? I'm sure they will remedy much of this, but I don't see them updating a port on this controller to allow a microphone and an external mouse, which kind of sucks as it makes it impossible to play any web-based games which facilitate a mouse, or at least makes it nearly impossible! The idiots couldn't have made a port or two on this keyboard/controller JUST IN CASE they wanted to add externals in the future? Maybe there will be wireless mics and mouse? That would work.
It makes me want to find the developers and slap them and when the ringing in their ears subsides ask them "WHAT IN THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING"? -

Pros: Excellent picture quality. Armchair internet browsing. Easy searching of the web. Flash compatible. Great for watching videos, netflix, tv shows, or just about anything on the web. Reboots in a few seconds (if needed). A universal remote built in.

I was interested in bringing web videos to my big screen tv and surround sound setup. I was considering purchasing a computer to add to my home theater setup, but the $700 price tag for the Mac Mini seemed too steep for what I was interested in. In addition, I had already hooked up an earlier version of Mac Mini to my tv and found it difficult to read when the resolution was set higher, and difficult to navigate the screens when the resolution was set too low (the web pages would not display well when the resolution was set too low).
I started researching boxes made for the tv, and I soon discovered the best alternative was the Logitech Revue. At $299, it seemed much more palatable. I saw online before purchasing that Hulu would not work on the Logitech Revue, but I was not looking for a cable tv replacement, so that was fine with me.
When I went to purchase the Logitech Revue, the salesperson told me how he liked the Logitech Revue much better than the Sony with Google TV because the keyboard was larger and easier to use. I also found Logitech was smart to put a mouse click key on both sides of the keyboard which makes navigating that much easier.
Setup of the Logitech Revue was a breeze. In fact, there were no hitches at all. You set your screen size, enter your network passwords, and a system update installs (which maybe took a few minutes at most). You select your cable provider and what channels you receive - enter the make and model of your AV Receiver and TV and you are ready to go.
The slim, light keyboard now controls the power and volume of my home theater setup. There is an IR blaster included with the Logitech Revue, but I did not need it at all. The keyboard was able to remotely control my AV receiver and tv perfectly.
I particularly enjoy movie trailers and my first stop was the Google Chrome app to visit the Apple movie trailer site. The Logitech Revue could not play the trailers on the Apple web site because it doesn't play Quicktime files, however, it took me only a minute or so to fine all the HD trailers I could ever want on Fandango (a Flash site).
In fact, outside if the Apple web site and Hulu, I have not found any video yet that wouldn't play on the Logitech Revue.
I have a Samsung Blu Ray player which is Netflix compatible and wanted to compare it to the Netflix on the Logitech Revue. The first thing I noticed was that I could find movies using the Netflix app on the Logitech Revue (I can only see my queue on the Samsung). That alone was so nice. No more going to my computer to add movies to my queue. If I find a movie I like, I can start watching it instantly. And the picture quality on the Logitech Revue was virtually identical to the Samsung Blu Ray player.
The next app I tried was Pandora. This was easy enough to navigate, and it was only a matter of seconds before music began to emerge from my home theater.
I enjoy watching HD videos from Vimeo.com, and the Logitech Revue plays each one flawlessly.
I have encountered the occasional system crash, but rebooting the Logitech Revue takes only a matter of seconds, with virtually no down time at all. Hardly an inconvenience on such a revolutionary piece of hardware.
Rumor has it that in April, the system will be upgraded so that many more apps can be downloaded. That will only make the Logitech Revue better. I am sure that the little glitches will be ironed out as well.
For those of you who compare the Logitech Revue to WebTV, I never wanted the WebTV. It was for novices who felt a computer was too intimidating. I am not that user. I am a power computer user who writes software in my spare time, and the Logitech Revue fits perfectly in my home theater system. I am looking to watch HD videos on the best screen in my house, and the Logitech Revue does this perfectly. -

Bang for your buck

Pros: combonation of tv and internet is great. Its not hard to set up, Good selection of apps pre-loaded. I use my droid x as a remote which is a great feature
Cons: of course no hulu, it would hurt the battery life of the keyboard, but some type of lighting on the keyboard would be nice. would love to have access to more apps via download. i know this is a shot in the dark but the zune app would be nice
