The good: Revolutionary Google TV software enables potential access to virtually all online media with a powerful interface; excellent wireless keyboard; user interface overlays over TV content from cable/satellite box; can control TV, AV receiver, and cable/satellite box with built-in IR emitters; Google search bar looks through both online and offline content; built-in Chrome browser that supports Flash and HTML5 video; streams music, videos, and photos from a connected PC or DLNA device; Android Marketplace coming in 2011.
The bad: Major content providers like Hulu, CBS, and ABC are currently blocking Google TV; user interface geared toward power users; Google's "universal" search doesn't search Netflix; antiquated Netflix interface; limited app selection at launch; expensive compared with simpler devices like Apple TV and Roku XDS; too many bugs with current software; significant network performance issues with our review sample; doesn't work with older, non-HD TVs.
The bottom line: The Logitech Revue with Google TV is loaded with potentially game-changing functionality, but its high price, numerous caveats, and current assortment of bugs make it best-suited to early adopters--at least until promised firmware fixes become available.

- Ability to access netflix
- Ability to listen to my music stations through Pandora
- Ability to total control my DVR & DTV through keyboard
- Ability to access PlayOn server linked to my PCCons: - Limited codec for video watching
- Keyboard can not bee seen in the dark
- Tapping ability on mouse pad is unstable

Summary: I love this product. Although it has limited apps and a few quarks overall I find it better than any other product out there for what it can do. Below you will find my list of contrast to what has been said as either these people have received a defective logitect revue and need to get a new one or they are really ridiculous on what their expectations were.
I purchased my revue on 10.27.10 and here are my finding to what ppl have complained about:
Specs-
TV = Sony Bravia
Intenet= POWERLINE MODEM
Dwnload= 16.38 mbps
Upload= 4.09
Ping= 22ms
My Wireless laptop
Dwnload= 16.36 mbps
Upload= 4.29
Ping= 13ms
Note I'm <50 miles away
Speed test done on speedtest.net
- Netflix app is the same as ps3 so not an issue for me. It would be nice to have instant streaming added into the app but whatever no biggie. U can access the web through the revue so why cry about that, no need to goto a laptop/pc. Picture quality was awesome on any new movies, there is a quality bar which tells you how gd or bad the quality is as the movie loads. Load of movie same as ps3 pretty fast.
-Pandora sounds great through my sony bavia no loading issues what so ever
-Youtube layback works as advertised, no slow loading, quality was same as laptop quality if hd even better. Not sure where ppl run into issue here cause I didnt.
-Facebook & simple apps like poker work great
- Logitech Media Player found my PlayOn server but could not play many of the video formats but it states 'on screen' its still in its beta phase & will probably not be able to play most formats. Not a biggie for me to wait a month or two for them to get this right. Its not like I'm going to die or cry about it. I DVR all of the tv shows I want to see anyway.
-'Whats On' is awesome to be able to see whats about to come on with hr/min time display is cool. alot better than looking at the DTV guide because it groups by category.
- I had no issues with watching shows on comedy central but ran into a few lagging moments on fox.com.
-Twitter could be a little better as you cannot see who's following you and who you are following on screen. So I hope this app gets a upgrade. Beyond that really not a horrible first round app.
- I dont have a android phone or a fancy receiver so those do not apply to me. Also I did not purchase the cam so I cant speak to that.
I can wait for the upgrades to come out as they are already in the works. system updates are automatic and I cant wait to see how much it grows.
Sorry for those who expected more and are disappointed but all I can say is if your truly a techie you should know better.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Works great once you get it properly connected
by Joey301 on October 27, 2010
Pros: Chrome browser on the TV plays full Web content. Integrates well with all of my devices so I only need one remote
Cons: Difficult to set up the HDMI cables, but i had very good assistance from Logitech (always a pleasant surprise to get good service)

Summary: I think it's great. I coordinates all of my devices, the Sony soundbar, PS3, and my Fios Television. Plus, it finally lets me easily get Web content on my Television. I found it hard to install, but the tech from Logitech talked me through the entire installation, including how to set up all of my other devices. This was a problem since on the Sony, I can only pass through one high definition device, so I had to use two HDMI cables to the teleivision as well as an optical cable. This was not in the instructions and I had to have help to do it. I think there will be a learning curve of its features and there will need to be some tweeks made in the software. For instance, I have not been able to find my own YouTube content very easily using the Leanback feature. I really like the full screen YouTube though. Also, the web page navigation can use a bit of tweeking, since we have lost the sidebar scroll. I am still exploring the apps that came with it, and I hope there will be more to come. Yes, the price was a little high, but it is lots of fun.

Google TV should be put back in the oven until its done
by MrDon_Y on October 24, 2010
Pros: Simple to use. Great web browsing interface. Setup was a breeze. Interfaced with all my A/V equipment nicely.
Cons: The whole thing seems like its still in Beta. Networks are now blocking it from being useful. Cant play MKV files (No Audio) the player is still in beta. Not simple to link podcasts that were not listed. Searching didn't bring in the results expected
Summary: The best thing is that it can't get any worse than what it is now. It's only going to get better. They rushed this out the door way ...
Summary: The best thing is that it can't get any worse than what it is now. It's only going to get better. They rushed this out the door way too early to be useful. I hate unfinished products like this it hints of Microsoft software. As it stands now Boxee would be a better bet or an Apple TV.

Buggy (crashes) and non functioning video chat
by joetesta70 on October 27, 2010
Pros: Small size
Cons: Google TV is like WebTV in 1999 only worse because Logitech's device doesn't work. Twitter crashed. Doesn't connect to my Picasa account. Vid HD video service has been down since I bought the product. Chrome didn't render wired.com properly
Summary: Don;t waste your money. No program guide, no apps store. Buy a WebTV on eBay and you'll be ahead of Google TV today.

Summary: This is the best $300 I've ever spent on my audio visual center. The UI is really polished and both Google and Logitech have done a great job, everything worked out of the box. This is so much better for surfing whlle in bed then my iPad; which I do love. But to have a full QWERTY keyboard, and a track pad and mouse that works on the screen, movies, apps, yikes its really here.

the BEST idea with the WORST execution
Pros: Great idea.
Worked awesome when I first got it.Cons: Google keeps installing more forced bloatware apps and upgrading existing apps that can't be uninstalled - the device can't take it.
The device becomes dead slow after a couple of days and needs to be powered down and rebooted every couple of daysSummary: If this device worked as it should, it would be my absolute favorite device, ever. Summary: If this device worked as it should, it would be my absolute favorite device, ever. It has/promises everything, NetFlix, Amazon movies, Youtube, a web browser, ability to install a lot (but not most) of the apps from Google Play....etc. It is awesome...in principle and concept.
The problem is that it is extremely underpowered and was barely able to run the apps it came with...and then over the past couple of years, Google has pushed more apps to it (that the user can't turn off or uninstall) and upgraded existing apps so the device can't keep up and basically becomes useless after a couple of days.
I have mitigated this by connecting it to an electric timer that kills its power every night for 5 minutes and cold reboots it. That helps, but it really annoys me that I have to do this. -
Logitech pulled the plug ON THEMSELVES.
by Christopher715 on April 4, 2012
Pros: A "child's version" of "Web TV"
Cons: NONE of the major networks (HULU included) will NOT SUPPORT GOOGLE TV. Logitech pulled the plug, here's the Wiki take on it: (continued in summary)

Jazzed when I first got it, then became majorly disappointed/disillusioned with Logitech~they pulled the plug:

I flat out love this thing!
by JKinPlymouth on January 4, 2012
Pros: Great IR universal remote.
Reliable and fast universal search of a huge variety of content.
Full keyboard is handy... and big enough that I don't lose it between the couch cushions.
A bargain! In my mind, this is a high-value product.Cons: The biggest miss... it REALLY needs a backlit keyboard. If it had one, this would be a five-star review.
A glitch in the setup (I was trying to set it up Xmas day... I suspect a server overload) meant it wasn't working until day 2.Summary: C-Net needs to re-write this review. The current editor's note isn't enough of an update. This device is now a bargain. Its price compares with a good RF ...
Summary: C-Net needs to re-write this review. The current editor's note isn't enough of an update. This device is now a bargain. Its price compares with a good RF universal remote, which this is. It compares with the high-end Roku devices... yup, this device replaces those too. I'd buy it just for the FAR better graphical on-screen guide it provides for TV content (compared with what's built into my cable set-top box). Add universal search, a web browser and a full keyboard... this product is a total win.

Logitech Revue Is Worth Every Penny
by vegetarianwino on December 30, 2011
Pros: Allows your television to act as a computer. Allows you to stream Pandora music and gives a free month-long trial to Netflix, Allows access to the Android Market, and is ridiculously simple to set up; just follow the prompts. It's very fast.
Cons: The qwerty keyboard is not backlit. (What on Earth were they thinking?!) You must turn on your living room light to view the keyboard to turn the channel.

Summary: After seeing my buddy keep looking at the Roku Box at Wal-Mart, I decided to surprise him with a gift. He's very happy with the surprise. The Logitech Revue makes it such that you can view live television while surfing the internet, all on the same screen at the same time. It's also fast. I decided that, though we have an 802.11N router, we will go the faster, traditional connection path of connecting to the cable modem with an ethernet cable. Should you do this, make certain that you get the 5E classification of ethernet cord. Ours was $29.00 for 25 feet of cable from Radio Shack.
After everything was connected, the Revue asked me for the zip code, ascertained which cable company from whom we subscribed, asked which cable box we had, asked the make and model number of our television, and which HDMI port we used to connect the Revue to the television, and that was it.
It updated itself to Android Honeycomb, turned itself off, and then turned itself back on. The websites pop up very fast and I am typing this very review of the Revue using the Revue.
It's a shame that Logitech has discontinued making this device. It's fantastic. I'm sitting here writing a review of a product wirelessly from across the room. I bought this Logitech Revue for under $80.00 at tigerdirect. Since Logitech doesn't make them anymore, I highly suggest that if you want a Revue, purchase quick; and also, don't listen to the people who have had bad things to say about it because it's highly likely that they're hooked on phonics, and hooked on Jersey Shore.
