The good: TiVo pauses live TV; controls cable and satellite boxes; ergonomic remote; excellent user interface and searchable program guide; supports networked audio, photos, and programming options.
The bad: TiVo requires additional monthly or lifetime charges; needs non-VoIP landline for initial setup; no HDTV support.
The bottom line: The best interface on the planet and cool network options make TiVo Series2 the standalone DVR of choice.
Are You Kidding?!?
Pros: I tried my best to find one but nothing came to mind -- unless being pretty counts ...
Cons: Too many to mention in detail but let's start with price. $299 for the life of the product (from one week to many years) OR $12.95 per month (which exceeds the lifetime price in two years if the device lives that long) and that is just the start. The to
Quickly getting hooked, Very Good Product
Pros: - Very Nice Interface - Reasonable initial cost (40 Hour unit was $99 after rebate). - Fairly easy setup - Home Networking Option is great, Slide shows of Family photos from our Main PC to Living Room TV is pretty awesome. - Have not had to use TIVO servi
Cons: - Monthly Fee a bit steep, Most people do not want to pay an additional $12.95 a month on top of cable/Sat charges. Similar Cable products run approx $ 9.99 a month (where available). - Wireless Networking setup a bit tricky for novice. Use Hex codes from
Made my life easier!
Pros: Great user interface, intuitive recording that actually works, wish list program search is the best! Hooked it up to my wireless network and play music from my PC. Also, the Home Media fxn doesn't require any valuable TiVo hard drive space like the Replay
Cons: No HD support.
Awesome but you need a land line
Pros: I just got this machine yesterday. Once it was up and running (see the cons), it has been awesome. Now I can interrupt my boyfriend during a Braves game, and he can just pause the TV. I already feel liberated from network TVs schedules. As others have sai
Cons: I was shocked to read in the installation directions that I had to set it up over a land line the first time! I do not have a land line. I bought this because all the literature said you could add it to a home network. I called customer support and the gu
Another How-Did-I-Live-Without-It Item
Pros: Completely eliminates the problem of "there's nothing on." Lives up to its sales hype and makes TV wating enjoyable. Also, the fact that it's simply a Linux box provides great flexibility.
Cons: Monthly/lifetime fee.
i prefer sky+
Pros: looks great
Cons: very little storage compared to sky+ which can get 30hours of high quality video. also sky+ picks up its own channels. sky+ has a 4hour instant rewind and pause. but hey americans cant get sky+ yet.
Pros: With Season Pass I have all of my favorite shows waiting for me every day when I get home from work. Love the instant replay button!! No more waiting for the network instant replay and I can replay it hundreds of times!!
Cons: Haven't found any yet...
One of the best technologies ever!
Pros: TiVo is one of the best products ever developted even if you only somewhat like TV. I have 3 units now. Have had TiVo for 3 years now. I know the system and how well it works. I use mine with DirecTV. For whatever you may watch, a little or a lot, it'll
Tried Replay didn,t work Tivo flawless setup
Pros: Easy setup easy uto use nice remote Customer service not in New Delhi India like others no languague problems
Cons: 30 min buffer no componet outputs
I LOVE TIVO
Pros: i can't live without tivo anymore. i love being able to replay live tv, i can set up season passes so it records the same show whenever it comes on. lots of nifty features, built in tv guide is great too
Cons: can't record 2 things at once or watch one thing while you record another. doesn't have the option to record part of a program or delete part of a program. you can record part of a program manually, but it's a real pain
