The good: TiVo pauses live TV; controls cable and satellite boxes; ergonomic remote; excellent user interface and searchable program guide; supports networked audio, photos, and programming options.
The bad: TiVo requires additional monthly or lifetime charges; needs non-VoIP landline for initial setup; no HDTV support.
The bottom line: The best interface on the planet and cool network options make TiVo Series2 the standalone DVR of choice.
nothing but happiness
Pros: it does everything i want it to do and i am loving mine even two years later (series 1). . .never a bad issue, other than maybe a few shows that got cut off due to rescheduling (the World Series bumped a show or the ocassional odd starting/ending times on
Cons: i want the home option (online show selection and networking) on the series 2, so i will sell my series 1 and get two series 2s in the coming months. . .would have been nice to be able to keep my current tivo, but oh well
Digital Quality is So-So
Pros: Simple to hook-up and operate. The instuctions are well thought out and easy to follow. Too many cool features to mention.
Cons: $300 lifetime membership only lasts for the extent of the DEVICE'S lifetime. The digital quality is inferior to my TV's normal display. This almost made me take it back for Replay TV, since Replay has better video and audio output. Although, Replay owner
once you go Tivo, you'll never go back.
Pros: To everyone who says that you can't record one show and watch another, did you read the manual??? guess not. Tivo is a requirement for anyone's home theater, I love not having to structure my life around TV, instead I get to watch what I want to watch, wh
Cons: Can't save recordings to a networked PC, or to a dvd-r.
Service Great!!! DVR JUNK!
Pros: the tivo service is great nd very convient, simple to record shows, puase and replay live TV, never miss a beat due to stupid tele-marketers or that ill timed call from your mom! ;-)
Cons: We have (Had) a series 2 DVR from TIVO. ran great for 18 Mos. and Died! TIVO is totally unresponsive. will cost us $149 to have the unit replaced. This is a rip off the unit should have last longer that 18 mos. heck the quantum HD in the thing is warrenti
Can't live with out my TIVO
Pros: Buying a DVR is the best thing I've bought in years. The season pass is the best feature. Service and support is better than Replays hands down.
Cons: Needs more video out options.
TiVo rules TV!
Pros: Awesome program guide, options to search by so many things, season passes to record all episodes of a show. And the ability to SKIP COMMERCIALS! What else could you ask for?
Cons: Slight delay in transferring programs between two DVR's using Home Media Option (based on home network speed)
Great VCR on steroids
Pros: The people who say negative things about TIVO, I believe them to be retarded!
Cons: Stores so many shows you will never leave the house.
I love this Thing!
Pros: It rocks! If you are reading this you know the features. This thing ROCKS! You will give up all you gadgets before this one!
Cons: There is not ONE! It is awesome.
If you buy one piece of equipment - TIVO!
Pros: This is the best TV product since they added color. DirecTV unit was easy to set up and easier to use. Pause live TV? Yes, but that's not even scratching the surface! "Season Pass" and "Wishlist" are awesome. I don't have to know when "Curb Your Enth
Cons: None. Have a merry Tivo xmas.
Pros: Tivo changes the way that you watch tv and is a great invention. I love it for that.
Cons: It is so loud. My tv system is near where I sleep and the fan is just very noisy. I have thought about just getting rid of Tivo because of this
