Advance Wars, the award-winning turn-based strategy game, makes its debut on the Nintendo DS. Players lead their new Commanding Officers to fend off the Black Hole Army's latest invasion. With massive battles that sweep across both of the DS screens, Advance Wars: Dual Strike will change the face of hand-held warfare forever.
Pros: easy to learn, huge difficulty range, unlockables, good storyline, well produced, awesome wireless / multiplayer functionality, intuitive controls (the list goes on!)
Cons: you really have to play the story mode to gain enough skill to do other modes... can occupy hours of your life at a time...

Summary: Advance Wars DS sports a the easy to understand idea of conquering your opponent either by defeating their entire force or by capturing thier base. The developers took many cues from games like Starcraft and Civilization in creating a turn-based war simulation that anyone can play within 10 minutes. Gameplay feels whole and complete - each story level advances the user through a world of increasing difficulty - challenging them to think outside of the box and constantly change strategies. The world design is excellent and the entire game can be controlled with the stylus or the d-pad. That's an surprisingly important feature of the game, as many DS titles depend completely on touch input. The two screens offer an easy way to see troop information as well as to have simultaneous maps being play. The multiplayer is great - up to 8 players battling it out wirelessly with or WITHOUT a cartridge (pretty cool)...
hmm...
I recommend this game for anyone with a DS above the age of 8 (the strategy can be complex and chess-like at times so younger players may have difficulty). As of September 2005, this game is the best one released for the DS (only really being opposed by Nintendogs which technically isn't a game). In addition to everything else, I believe there is a map-design section which allows players to make thier own scenarios for friends to battle out...
honestly, not many console games have are as complete as this triumph by Nintendo... but you don't have to take my word for it!
