Worst DVD Player I've ever owned
by thomporter on October 6, 2009
Pros: Nothing special. It's HD, 1080p w/ up-scaling, has coax & fiber out.
Cons: Un-responsive to the remote control
Skips/Stops constantly
Fast Forward/Rewind speeds suck.Summary: The unit is horribly un-responsive to the remote control (I replaced batteries & setup my Sony RM-AV3100, i have to push buttons 50 times before the DVD player picks up ...
Summary: The unit is horribly un-responsive to the remote control (I replaced batteries & setup my Sony RM-AV3100, i have to push buttons 50 times before the DVD player picks up on it.) The slightest imperfection in your DVDs causes this player to stop/skip. The player only supports 2x, 4x, & 64x... How about 8x, 16x, 32x? 4x is really slow but at 64x you're skipping chapters every few seconds.
Overall I'd say this is the worst DVD player I've ever owned. I'll never buy a Samsung again because of it.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

worst player I ever owned
by tvoorbij on February 13, 2010
Pros: Maybe when it worked properly as it should...
Cons: Lockes up. Loses connection with Samsung LCD. Need to unplug when it locks or loses connection with TV. Cannot go to TV while player is pauzed. Samsung (NL, but from reading also other countries) don't act on the several complaints in various forums.
Summary: Don't buy this player. I bought two but both had the same problems. Used several HDMI cables, used the latest firmware on both the player and LCD. Samsung doesn'...
Summary: Don't buy this player. I bought two but both had the same problems. Used several HDMI cables, used the latest firmware on both the player and LCD. Samsung doesn't answer my e-mails and at first replied to call their (expensive) 0900 number. Will return the second one too. When searching on Google I found enough people having the same problems.

Inexpensive and works great, USB is a definite plus
by luxzy801 on February 18, 2011
Pros: Works great, excellent quality when using HDMI, USB is the best. I have two of these units and looking to acquire a third. I rarely use DVD's. Have hard drives connected to both and watch movies through the USB...
Cons: The only con is that it tends to freeze up once in a while and it needs to be reset and that is it

Summary: Very well built, inexpensive DVD/Media player. The USB port is the main function that is used in my house. The quality of the media depends on the digital quality (Some 1080, some are 480, depends on the conversion from DVD to AVi format). Helps prevent my DVD's from being scratched up, convert the DVD's, put them on an external hard drive, play from the hard drive and store your DVD's just in case you need them.
Highly recommended. -

Summary: I bought this DVD player for a last minute replacement for my broken sony. I bought this one to match my Samsung plasma that replaced my sony tv. It matches and looks really good. It's picture is fantastic and it is simple to operate. I have been switching components to Samsung after being a loyal sony fan for years. For me you can't beat Samsung nowadays. just my personal experience with two of their competitors has left me feeling shafted. I have yet to have a problem with any item from Samsung. This now includes a 50" Plasma, this DVD, a second tv, a color laserjet printer, and a cell phone. I really think this company is looking long term and trying to exceed customer expectations. I wonder if those negative reviewers even called to see what Samsung suggested. I don't see bad mouthing a company until a problem comes up and you see how they react. That's what makes the difference and a loyal customer.

Cheap build and noisy
by Mr_Excitement on June 21, 2009
Pros: The only good thing is you get a free HDMI cable. It handles USB sticks OK, plays AVIS and DivX. It's got an 'eject' button on the remote unlike some other brands.
Cons: It's got a cheap build and the player makes a hissing noise. My main USB stick didn't
work and neither did my Seagate FreeAgent. One of my other crappier USB sticks worked but by that stage I wasn't impressed.Summary: Cheap build but you get a free HDMI cable.
