Pros: - Plays the worn DVDs my old player could no longer read without problems - Fair priced at under $40 - Slim, lightweight - Set-up is easy unless you have an older tv
Cons: - Display has no clock/timer - only shows track - You have to turn the DVD off to switch back to tv (to get a score). - Unable to just hold DVD by edge to place or remove DVD from slot - No live phone support. Just voice mail hell.

Summary: I purchased this player because my DVD/VCR combo was having trouble playing used DVD's that no amount of cleaning seemed to correct. I purchased lens cleaner for the DVD itself but that made no improvements. This player is playing the sections the other player could no longer play and freeze and that's the main thing.
My Combo player worked great for many years and had all the features I will miss using this player such as the tv/dvd/vcr button on the remote. I never imagined that is not a common feature. I frequently switched over to tv when the dvd was playing to get a score or bypass a boring section and go back. Having to turn the player off and then re-start from the beginning is quite annoying.
I can live without the full display timer. It was also nice having the buttons (Forward/Reverse) on the combo player in case the remote batteries died but how could they make the open/close slot on the player in such a way where you have no choice but get fingerprints on the DVD because you cannot easily grab the edges. How can things be such a bad design after all these years.
I also have an older tv and needed to purchase an RF Modulator to get this player to work. With my old combo unit I also never knew the dvd players don't have connections for the cable wires. I tried to hook it up using the combo so I could connect all the wires but it wasn't working.
I don't think my eyes are that bad but the user manual font was so small to be near un-readable. Forget about calling Toshiba customer support for help. It is just voice mail hell with simple pre-recorded messages that usually offer no help and if your problem isn't mentioned you're out of luck. Maybe email support you can ask a specific questions but I wouldn't hold my breathe for a reply.
If you want a no-frills product at a reasonable price this player seems to do the trick. Nowadays it seems if you buy anything for under $100 and it lasts a year be happy.
