Good quality machine, but bad choice universal remote

Pros: This was my last option since every other DVD-VCR combo was already sold out. I'm surprised it handled every CD, DVD, and VHS tape possible.
Cons: Due to a problematic universal remote, I can't set the tape speed to SLP mode (6 hours). The DVD player cannot play MP3 CD's. Sound is badly distorted overdriven when playing movies or music.

Summary: If you want to set the tape speed, make sure the product is "in stock" at the store first, and don't buy it directly off the display, like I did. First mistake I made. Otherwise, you're gonna have to buy a Logitech Harmony remote in order to do more with this machine. The DVD/CD player WILL NOT play MP3 jukebox CD's, no matter how many different ways you try to set it up. Don't waste your CD-R's trying to make one to play in this unit.
I did find another attribute about the machine that wasn't tried: If you've burnt your own DVD's or regularly use a DVD camera and want to transfer its recordings to videotape, you can actually copy it onto one. That is, if the tapes are still being sold.
Overall, the manufacturer made the mistake of removing the speed switch from the control panel.
