The good: The Kindle Paperwhite boasts the best screen we've seen to date on an e-ink e-reader. The built-in light is great for nighttime reading, and the touch screen is a notch above the competition. Amazon's e-book selection remains best in class. Battery life is excellent so long as you turn Wi-Fi off.
The bad: It could be a tad lighter, an AC adapter isn't included (just a Micro-USB cable for charging), and there's no memory expansion slot. The ad-free version costs $20 more.
The bottom line: With an excellent built-in light and Amazon's best-in-class e-book selection, the Kindle Paperwhite rises to the top of the e-reader pack.
Pros: A fantastic lit screen Light and compact High resolution and contrast Inexpensive
Cons: Like all e-readers it is difficult to navigate back and forth within the book.

Summary: When the first Kindle made an appearance, I was thrilled. My vision has faded over the years and the idea of a large print edition for all books was too exciting for words. I patiently waited for the second Kindle so that any bugs and design flaws could be worked out. I then bought the Kindle 2 and Kindle 3. I decided to wait again when the Touch came out for the same reason I waited for the Kindle 2. Now the Paperwhite is here, I have had it for two weeks, read three to four hours a day and I can honestly say it is the best Kindle I have owned. I choose to remain in the Amazon family because of the large number of books I own, the selection, and their sites ease of use. Let me first comment on my one con. I read a great deal of popular history. These books usually come with a separate section for illustrations and maps. Even with bookmarking, moving back and forth between text and illustrations is a multi-step process that takes longer than I like. I am not inventive enough to offer a solution, but I hope someone can do so. This device is a pure pleasure for reading. Adjustable text size and multiple fonts allow the reader to pick a display that is perfectly suited to his/her eyesight. The high contrast and white background perfectly mimic paper and are infinitely superior to the older grey background and slightly fuzzy text. The only caveat I would offer is that the size and weight make the Kindle Paperwhite feel fragile. I doubt that is the case but it was enough to make me purchase the protective cover, for my peace of mind if nothing else. In summation, for the older reader whose eyesight is not what it once was and who finds lighter is better this is the ideal reader. 1000 large print books in a device that weighs 7.5 oz., slides easily into a coat pocket or purse, comes with a built in light and easy access to Amazon's collection of millions of books. Who could ask for more?
Pros: Back lit Touch is very responsive X-ray is wonderful Great feel and design Rubberize back is sturdy Cloud function is very handy
Cons: Wifi is a battery drain More font options Not true white screen, just the appearance during the highest light setting

Summary: To say that this e-reader is cheaply made is complete folly! Anyone who actually owns or has held the Paperwhite knows that it feel great in your hands. It also feels sturdy and the rubberized back makes it feel like it won't slip out of your hands. I owned a Kindle 4 previous and the Paperwhite is heavier - not by much but at least I feel it will take a beating if I am clumsy.
The light on the Paperwhite is lovely. Although I was expecting a white screen (which it is not, despite what the ads say), but instead it's still the same grey screen. With the light on at highest setting, it appears white.
X-ray is amazing. Based on your reading speed, the lower left corner will tell you how much time is left to the next chapter. Or how far you are in the book. Its great for the bus ride, or before sleep when you want to read just a little more.
Cloud function is great and iOS users will love it. The cloud will sync with each device with the Kindle app. So if you're on page 101 of a book on your Kindle, your iPad or iPhone app will sync to that page. Very handy.
I would love more fonts, but that's just cosmetic.
It is (as of late 2012) the best e-reader on the market.
