The good: E-book reader with color touch screen; built-in Wi-Fi; access to Barnes & Noble eBook store; SD expansion slot for additional memory; Web browser and e-mail capabilities; displays images and some video formats; support for audio and MP3 playback.
The bad: Resistive touch-screen is problematic; extremely sluggish performance; interface could be more intuitive; overall user experience could be better.
The bottom line: The feature set of the affordable Pandigital Novel looks good on paper, but this color e-book reader and multimedia device is hobbled by its extremely slow performance and unresponsive touch screen.

B&N only downloads to US ip addresses.
by dketcheson on December 23, 2011
Pros: Big screen (9" version)
Cons: Hard to find software in Canada. B&N only downloads to US ip addresses. Bulky. Wait to re-load every time the screen rotates. The other ereader software available is very inconvenient to use. Kobo doesn't seem to work at all.

I am unable to listen to music or watch videos on this.
by nhramax on December 14, 2011
Pros: Great to get online and read emails.
Cons: Very difficult to move around when looking for books.
Summary: Wondering if anyone knows what to do to be able to watch videos and listen to music.

Screens Fragile
by Hired_Hand on September 29, 2011
Pros: I liked the fact I could use them in airports for the WiFi and I found the touchscreen fairly good
Cons: Once the screen is cracked, it is toast. I took one out of the case on the plane and the screen was cracked-I think that one had a defective frame. The second one fell and cracked the corner. It would work about 75%.
Once you can't use the touchscreen, yoSummary: I liked it, I liked the size of the screen, but for my usage which includes much plane travel, , it is just too fragile.

JUST WHAT THE TEACHER ORDERED
by REFarns on September 4, 2011
Pros: Easy to use, intuitive enough my 9 year old can easily read and navigate the features. Simple link to B&N, Have found Tons of Free EPUB books.
Cons: Slow changing orientations. Large books like the Bible or War and Peace take a second to load.
Summary: Basically, I found two of these and purchased them both, one for myself the other for my daughter. Where some complain that the processor is too slow, I am thankful. ...
Summary: Basically, I found two of these and purchased them both, one for myself the other for my daughter. Where some complain that the processor is too slow, I am thankful. I want this as an e-reader, the last think I need is for my daughter to get caught playing angry birds in class. The WiFi ability is nice and checking quick email during coffee has proven to be an added perk. If you are looking for a tablet computer, buy one, if you are looking for a color E-reader that comes in easily $120 under the Nook, buy this, you won't regret it.
P.S. I read the negative reviews with my daughter before buying it and she is now convinced that the naysayers are 'NUTS" for thinking there is anything wrong with the screen or the speed of the unit. -
Junk! Slow, fragile, touch screen not very responsive.
by oldforester on August 27, 2011
Pros: Color display, brightness adjustment, night mode, ease of bookmarking.
Cons: SLOW! Touch screeen not highly responsive. Closes at its whim! Changes screen orientation at its discretion. Battery does not last long between chargings. Now is DEAD!
Summary: Save your money. This could be the most expensize door stop you ever buy! Kindle, even though it lacks many of improvements the Novel has (color, night setting, easier navigating) ...
Summary: Save your money. This could be the most expensize door stop you ever buy! Kindle, even though it lacks many of improvements the Novel has (color, night setting, easier navigating) is still a much better buy and a sturdier unit! Drop the Novel and it is a goner. My wife's Kindle has probably hit the floor 100 times and still works perfectly!

am not a happy consumer
am not a happy consumerby grateful8 on June 13, 2011
Pros: backlight and font settings are a nice feature
Cons: developed a hairline crack within 30 days and recieved no support. In fairness to the company, it fell about 2-3 inches off the supplied stand which created the crack. Recieved 0 support from neither Best Buy nor Pandigital. I won't be doing business w

Not what I hoped for in an ereader
by blbalduck on June 2, 2011
Pros: Liked the direct connect to Barnes and Noble plus having the ability to access the internet.
Cons: Not happy with how long the battery lasted, was having to charge almost everyother day. Not a very good ereader for someone who is an avid reader. Had a hard time getting it to turn on plus it took a long time to bring up the main page. Couldn't get it

Summary: I would not recommend this ereader to anyone. Has to be charged every couple of days. I would spend the extra money and get a Kindle or a Sony ereader instead.
When I was finally able to get it to turn on this evening it decided to reset itself back to factory settings. Lost all the books I had downloaded plus the ones I had purchased. I will be sending it back for a refund.

I love it.
by stcarmel on April 12, 2011
Pros: It's easy to use and to download bucks.
Cons: It's heavy but it comes with a stand so you don't have to hold it all the time.
Summary: My huband likes taking it to the mall and checking his email or facebook page or just reading a book, while he waits for me.
