Summary: Professional photographer... have 5 LaCie drives. One of them dies just out of warrenty, am now spending $3,800 to recover data... at this point only 60% is recoverable. Heard the same story from another photographer a year ago and didn't believe him... now I do! Next drive will be a Maxtor or Seagate.
Updated
My second LaCie died... have 3 left but they are fiully backed up on other drives. Love their design... hate their functionality. My videographer has over 20 drives... none of them LaCie... and said he has never had one crash! -

Summary: Actually a little hard to buy. Was "in stock" at Amazon, I ordered, site confirmed, next day: "this product is no longer available". Next ordered from Provantage, real time stock check, excellent price.
Drive is absolutely plug and play with my Mac PowerBook G4. Works fine as boot drive. Cast aluminium box very solid, facilitates cooling, drive is very quiet.
At a price of $0.78/GB, three interfaces, and great speed I'm happy with this one. -

Summary: This company is nonexistent. They do not stand behind their products. They don't answer their tech support line. They do not answer at support@lacie.com. They do not acknowledge web support. Their drives fail - all too often, it seems, from my web research after purchase. Mine failed, and they can't be found. DO NOT BUY LACIE!!!!!

Summary: When i first received this product I was very exited to hook it up and back up my computer and free space. After reading numerous reviews this one seemed like the best purchase. I installed everything correctly, wasnt hard, only 2 steps to follow. The drive was never found from my computer. I was pretty bummed about it, tried everything there was to fix it. Tech support hadnt a clue what to do. So i sent it back and got another. Same issue. Maybe its just me, but either way, both being unrecognized = pure garbage

Lacie Products = Poor Quality
Pros: firewire 800+
Cons: Poor quality and component selection. In 13 months unit sent back after 3 months and at 13th month Western Digital HD froze. GARBAGE!
