Pros: Large capacity, plug-and-play, simple, quiet, the plastic enclosure doesn't get hot.
Cons: Slow, does not have a power switch.

Summary: Bought this device at Fry's for $99.00, and returned it the next day. It was too slow for me. Transfer rates did not exceed 10MBps, if that (that's Mega Bytes per second). What's the point of making an USB 2.0 device if you're going to have speeds no better than USB 1.1??? My old external HDD tops 30MBps! The lack of a power switch was another issue. If you want to turn this unit off you will have to unplug it from the ac outlet. It has an LED that blinks when the unit is active and stays on steady when it is powered, but it's located in the back, right next to the USB and power jacks. If you can live with these shortcomings then this unit is worth it.

Summary: Stopped working after 1 year of very light use. I called WD when my computer would not recognize the drive, WD refused to do anything because its been 1 year and 2 weeks and the warranty is for one year. Reading other reviews more closely (on Amazon) this is a very common problem.
Pros: Installs in seconds. Drag and Drop simplicity. Whisper quiet.
Cons: Minor complaint - access light on back of unit.

I need to drop my rating by one star for a heating issue. As there are no vents on this device I had to buy a small fan to keep it cool. It's still a very good product but I am surprised by this design flaw.
