LG 55LM6700 price range: $1,195.00

The good: The LG LM6700 series delivers accurate color and good picture quality in 3D mode with little to no crosstalk. Its clever motion-control remote is used with a highly customizable menu system, and its Smart TV suite offers plenty of content. It ships with six pairs of passive 3D glasses. The external design is striking in silver, although probably not for everyone.
The bad: The somewhat expensive LM6700 showed light black levels and shadows, and its glossy screen reflects too much ambient light. It lacks an option to engage smoothing and evinced worse motion resolution than other 120Hz TVs.
The bottom line: Although blessed with a unique design and plenty of useful extras, the disappointing picture quality of the LG LM6700 series makes it a questionable value.

Holy Crap!
by Steven1x10 on April 20, 2012
Pros: + Picture and contrast and color are incredible, 3D is very nice
+ Speakers are really good
+ Easy set up, navigation and good connectivity
+ Remote control and user menus are very easy to use
+ Stand was very sturdy and assembled quite easilyCons: - Edge flashing but only on menus and things, NEVER when it counts, like during a movie

Summary: I was walking through Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and the picture on this TV stopped me in my tracks! (seriously.) The Best Buy sales person stated it was running on the store's 720p satellite, which, if true, was even more stunning! The TV itself is sleek and sexy and minimalist. I love how there is virtually no physical border around the top and sides of the screen which is a great space-saver (you don't have a 2" plastic frame around the picture, reducing bulk.
After getting it home it was packed amazingly and the stand was very sturdy and assembled quite easily. The TV itself was heavier than I thought it would be so it took two people to get it up on the TV stand.
Generous HDMI inputs as well as an optical and composite for older tech like my older Bose lifestyle home theater. I plan on hooking my new Mac Mini to this as the monitor. DROOL!
The 3D is very nice and, in my opinion, better than the movie theater. I am not real informed on the differences between passive and active 3D glasses, other than one uses batteries and electronic shuttering and the others are, well, glasses with one side darker than the other. This is a passive TV and things are stunning and the TV comes with 6 pair. Also, if you need extra glasses for a larger group or replacement, the Real-D movie theater glasses work great so just bring a pair home...
In regards to the on-board speakers, I never use them. If you have a TV this awesome you need a home theater with surround. Kind of like buying a corvette with a 4-cylinder in it. They are unobtrusive but do add to the bulk and weight of the unit and I wish they could be detached.
The picture was great right out of the box but I have a very keen eye and I knew some adjustments needed to be made. LG has great software and a plethora of adjustment options, some fairly complicated for more advanced users. I would recommend putting the picture type on "vivid". It will blow your mind! The picture and contrast and color are incredible. I will say that animated features are stunning! Just Stunning. I recommend watching Puss In Boots 3D Bluray and the animated movie "9" on Bluray (non-3D) to see what I am talking about. I watched Tangled on Bluray last night and...wow!
Other reviews mentioned "edge flashing" or "bleed" and I have noticed this as well, but only on menus and things, NEVER when it counts, like during a movie. Blacks are inky and nice.
The magic remote is nice and if you have played a Wii you will be right at home. Overall I feel it works well but needs some accuracy tweaking.
On-board 2D-3D conversion is pretty cool but not as good as something filmed in 3D.
BUY THIS TV!

CNET must have got the only bad LG 55LM6700 ever made.
by Kabel717 on December 3, 2012
Pros: Picture Quality, Style, Edge to Edge Screen, LED Back lighting, Light Weight and Extremely Thin and Price!
Cons: Personally I don't like the remote, but everyone else in my family loves it. The picture quality is too good. Watching 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 720i you notice every little thing. 3D is a little dark, but heck that is passive 3D for you.

Summary: For the money you just can not beat it, especially for a 3D set. At first we thought about for going 3D, because it was just to expensive and we noticed that places like Costco had lots of other sets in the same range with slightly larger screens, ie. 60" or they had 240Hz refresh. But when we started comparing the actual picture quality there just wasn't any other choice, but to go with this set. So, I am left wondering what the heck CNET is talking about. We even compared this set to CNET's Editor Choice Winner the Panasonic PVT50 and Sharp's X5FD and every set in between and only the Sharp had a better picture and it was almost $3,000.00 more. I am truly perplexed as to CNET's review and can only think that their picture source was bad or they reviewed a bad unit. The bottom line is, this TV rocks!

Summary: I buy and sell tvs as a side job and thoroughly test all the ones I receive. From the likes of the Sony NX720, the Samsung plasma PnD7000 series and other samsung leds. This one is great in comparison to those and can hold its own (especially for the price). It has much better uniformity than my previous Samsung D7000 LED which possessed terrible flashlighting. Black levels are much better than this CNET review says they are and am currently puzzled as to why they say they are so poor! I generally keep the backlight of my tvs near or below 30% of maximum output. I followed the review for the Vizio M3D470KD and decided to try it out. It was terrible, the scenes where it was actually not blooming across the entire screen and raising the black levels to unacceptable levels was rare. The interface was very sluggish and the apps are just one of the most dated in the market. Overall the quality is just not there yet for the Vizio line. I've since returned it and tryed out this set. I've found the recent reviews put out by this website to be completely incorrect for some reason. Political maybe? or just received a bad set? All I know is that this LG performs for the price and is a much better bargain than that Vizio touted as nearly the best LED of the year.

Amazing TV, what is CNET on about?
by ASForrest on January 16, 2013
Pros: - Quality colours with great depth and natural levels (much better then Samsung's TVs which seem to over light everything)
- Good motion (I don't feel like I'm always watching video due to weird image processing and extra frames)
- Beautiful designCons: - Speakers are crap
Summary: This is really an awesome TV!

Summary: I used to rely on CNET reviews on all electronic purchases and used to keep that as a benchmark. After reading this TV's review, I'm forced to change my opinion.
This is a fantastic TV overall. Great 2D and 3D picture quality. I connected this TV to Sony blu ray home theater that has ARC, it's a delight to watch 3D movies on this TV. 2D to 3D conversion is superb. Screen uniformity and black levels are great, I didn't find any issues like mentioned in the CNET review. I was puzzled with 2.5 star rating, still wondering why. Yes the black levels may not be as good as tested in the lab, but lot of details on the review were wrong and limited (eg: LM7600 doesn't have dual core processor, but the review says it does, there is no mention on 2D to 3D conversion feature in the review which works great etc). Screen glare may be an issue if a light source is infront of this TV. A recommended buy for the price.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I wasn't happy when my brother bought this TV since I was a Samsung fanboy. Well, ever since I learned the difference between active and passive 3d and had my fun experience with this tv, I jumped to LG TV camp.
2D PQ is good but I couldn't really tell any big difference from Samsung's, but 3D depth shocked me. Whether I watch Japanese animation or play Mass effect 3, the 3D depth are just too good. If you are hesitating like how I was, go to the shop and see it for yourself.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Price was the major factor for my concern to this passive set, I have compared Samsung, LG, Sony, Toshiba and Vizio sets all together in this class but, honestly I didn't find this much of features in any other brand model. LG has implemented couple of new smart apps to this TV such as 3d world and its magic motion remote is way better than previous passive models remote.

The glasses are battery-free so they are just like your ordinary shades. The smart share plus lets me browse the files in my other mobile devices like tablet and smartphone through WiFi or HDMI.

Summary: I have to also say I don't understand why Cnet panned this tv - it's amazing. The picture is gorgeous, the app interface is fantastic, and even the sound is a vast improvement over my last tv (a five-year old Vizio plasma). I had a Vizio latest-gen Smart TV and the interface and connectivity were annoying and laggy. Replaced it with this. On-screen controls are quick, apps are responsive and again, the picture is beautiful. I really haven't got any complaints other than the nit-picking about the placement of the mute key on the magic remote. I seem to want to hit that when I'm trying to select something without actually paying too much attention to what I'm doing. This was worth every penny and I'll probably keep it until it gives up the ghost, then bury it like I would a beloved pet and be depressed for a couple weeks afterwards.
It's really a good TV.
