Panasonic TC-L47DT50 price range: $908.10 - $2,378.23

The good: The Panasonic DT50 series performs moderately well in 3D with less crosstalk than some rivals. The onboard wireless and full complement of video services will please Smart TV fans. The thin bezel and metallic finish is distinctive if a bit retro.
The bad: This TV's picture quality is below average, especially considering the high price. Black levels are some of the lightest we've ever seen and shadow detail is washed out. Colors are inaccurate and undersaturated, the screen reflects too much ambient light, and uniformity is poor.
The bottom line: Panasonic's DT50 series of LED TVs is among the worst we've seen this year, and can't hold a candle to the company's plasmas.

Very good design but black level is really failed.
by BlurayMan on November 25, 2012
Pros: Excellent, esthetically pure design. Good picture quality on movies with lots of dynamic scenes - so smoothly as user can expect. Digital era ready device - equipped with all possible and actual interfaces and capabilities. Best 3D tech on market.
Cons: Don't even try to watch movies via analogue tuner - picture is noisy, just buy old TV for that. This device only for digitally received content - use DVB or any digital interface - picture looks better in this case. Poor contrast in dark movies.
Summary: If you have DVB-C or DVB-S channels at home - you can buy it for sure - picture quality is on good level in most cases.

Ive had this TV for a few days now and have run everything through it, Sky (HD) DVD, bluray, mac etc and I was amazed by the picture quality. I previously had a 46inch Panasonic plasma and yes, although the blacks were deeper (as expected with plasma) the picture is no way near as good as the DT50 (55inch) its so clear that the images almost seem 3D without the option turned on. After tweaking the settings as I do with all my TV's, i've managed to get a great black level when viewing at night with lights turned off. During the day the images have a great punchiness to them and a very natural tone.
Compared to the new Samsung equivalent this is a better picture no doubt, and I love the styling, no tacky, gimmicky cameras ruining the minimalist design.
To my knowledge there's no LED TV's out at the moment with better blacks then a plasma, but the overall clarity is far superior. OLED's on the other hand... -
Best LED picture I've seen
by SolusDog on May 13, 2012

Summary: I went out to buy a new LED TV. I expected to buy a Samsung, but was prepared to be talked into a Sony. I went to four stores and ended up with the Panasonic DT50 - 47 inch. When I saw the picture, I was wowed. The demo was sourced from a BluRay player, which made me suspicious. So, I did some Google research. I found two reviews stating that this is probably the best LED TV for 2012. Then I saw this review... I went back to the store with this TV for another demo. At this point, I was down to this TV and a Samsung. I asked them to connect the two TVs to the same cable TV source (shared by at least 10 TVs). No question, the DT50 had the best picture.
I now have the TV home and could be happier.
So why the negative review by CNET? My first guess is that they received a defective unit. The conspiracy side of me suspects that the reviewer has a bone to pick with Panasonic (lol). Whatever it may be, I recommend that CNET takes a second look at this TV. -
I just bought this in47" from Sears and love it.

Pros: Picture looks pretty darn nice to me. Cosmetics are top notch and it has APP's even though I'll never use them.
Cons: I wish it cost a little less but I'm happy with it.

Summary: I think it's a great TV regardless of the cnet reveiw. I think you guys flubbed this one. Yes it's a Panasonic LED not a plasma, so you can't compare black levels.
Setup at my house, the picture is superb. I don't care about the APPs, so I don't use them. And in response to the retardo review which was just obvious dislike directed at Panasonic, why even bash a company that everyone knows has always made a solid product and then try and compare them to Apple?? what TV's, please. -
Nothing like seeing Panasonic fail as Apple succeeds.
by retardo2222 on May 2, 2012
Pros: the name is the only plus to this product.
Cons: the tv looks like crap as per the review
Summary: Avoid the Panasonic line at this stage

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Panasonic
- Part number: TC-L47DT50
- Description: The display alternately shows images for the left and right eyes. The left and right lenses of the eyewear open and close in sync with this display timing to show separate images to the left and right eyes. By repeating this action at high speed, the brain perceives 3D images. And because this method displays Full HD 3D images just as they are, both eyes receive 3D images in high, Full-HD quality.
