The good: The budget-priced Panasonic TC-PS60 has excellent picture quality with exceedingly deep black levels, great shadow detail, accurate colors, and superb off-angle and uniformity characteristics; basic, easy-to-use streaming services include Netflix, Amazon and YouTube without extraneous Smart TV features.
The bad: Picture quality in bright rooms isn't as good as many other TVs; only two HDMI inputs; limited streaming content; consumes more power than LCD TVs.
The bottom line: The Panasonic TC-PS60 plasma TV's low price, high-end picture quality, and bare-bones Smarts make it one of the best values we've ever seen.

Summary: Panasonic as far as I am concerned is the best producer of television sets in the world right now. Nothing compares to the picture clarity and quality of a Panasonic Plasma TV and this model is no different. I replaced a 42" Plasma from 5 or 6 years ago with this model and a week later I'm not even slightly regretting the choice.
Plasma technology has come a long way, you'll find that not only do you get the high refresh rate, deep blacks and crisp picture but you also get a longer lifetime now (~30 years of 8 hours a day viewing before the TV will begin to fade), much lower power consumption (CNET rates this model around $44 a year, Panasonic states $28, so figure it somewhere between $35-40 without using Eco-mode settings) and better picture control than in the past (multiple ratios, you can choose to cool/warm the picture in minute quantities and set different profiles for each input).
Still, if you're sitting here trying to decide between a Plasma and an LED, you need to really only consider a few scenarios.
If it is going to be in a family room that has bright lighting and won't be used for a lot of high action (sports) programming, you're probably better off going with a newer LED model for the screen reflectivity and to avoid the color saturation you get on Plasmas. If you want a Plasma and to avoid any serious glare problems, try stepping up a model to the ST60 or the VT60, each step up will dramatically improve screen glare (and add a crisper picture, which isn't terribly noticeable unless a side by side comparison is performed when in a scarcely lit room). Otherwise in a bedroom or somewhere you don't mind closing the blinds, this is a great buy.
Trying to decide between the ST60 and the S60? Good luck, even I had a difficult time with that. The final decision really only came down to the fact that there isn't a noticeable difference in picture quality in the setting I have my TV and I don't need the Smart TV/3D ability.
This model has Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, Hulu and a few other Apps. All of which are updated applications so the interfaces are more modern, which is nice. The Wi-Fi set up was very easy, so despite not being Wifi certified I wouldn't be concerned, it comes built-in and ready to go.
Another great feature some Techies might find useful is full DLNA support with no complications. All I had to do was connect the network, pull up my DLNA apps on my Surface or Lumia 920 and boom, streaming right to the TV in all of its glory.
Don't be fooled for other knockoff brands like Samsungs which just copy market innovators or LG/Sharp whom don't have the same technology built into their TVs like Panasonic does. The S60 is a great deal for the consumer, bringing affordable HD sets to the masses and backed by a brand that lasts, my TV still works from 6 years ago without ever needing a repair and I know of other people with Panasonics from 10+ years ago that never had problems.

Best Budget TV on the market!
by Hyattff2003 on April 17, 2013
Pros: Very much in the budget for lower end TV buyers, Phenomenal picture with great color and very deep black levels, and a nice inclusion of some internet apps including Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon instant, easy to use set up and menus.
Cons: Only 2 HDMI, clunky keyboard within app menus, Glare issue in bright room is distracting.

Summary: I was in the market for a non-3d 50" TV, as I feel 3D is a passing fad and having to spend extra for that feature is something I'll take a pass on. I came across Panasonic's entry level SmartTV and WHOA! I was blown away.
The picture produced from this bad boy is phenomenal as the 1080P is accurate, and vivid. While it doesn't have the Infinite Black technology of the ST60 (Cnet's first 5 star TV) and up, it still produces amazing blacks and great shadow detail better than any other TV I saw in its price range. The other thing I love is how customizable the picture settings are. I love playing around with those to get what I think is the best picture, and they have no shortage of settings to play with. And the Copy Adjustments feature to the other inputs is a great time saver as well.
The connectivity to Netflix, Amazon Instant, and Hulu was a nice bonus as well. I wasn't particularly in the market for a SmartTV, but the limited options it came with suit my needs wonderfully. I didn't have the money for a TV with the Vierra Connect, but what I got was great. I also like the interfaces with Hulu and especially Netflix, which I like better than the interface in my Roku player. It's a nice touch.
I suppose I should say something about the design as well. I'm not a big design guy unless the design is ridiculously awful (see Samsung's 4K tv). The bezel on this is fine, though the one quibble I have is that the stand feels less stable than the previous Panasonic models when I was setting it up. Instead of having two stability bars going up into the TV from the base, it was just a couple of stubs. It was a worry, especially as I have a 3 year old who loves playing around the thing.
The main issue I have is with the connections. Again, I'm on a budget and don't have an entire home theater system to make this baby really pop! But, just 2 HDMI inputs in the time of the cable box, the Roku, and the eventual video game system or Blu Ray player is not enough. This issue is why I knocked my review down half a star.
In addition, the glare off the screen is sometimes distracting. Granted, I have it in a semi bright room, but it does make the viewing experience a little less than perfection.
The only other quibble I have is with the keyboard in the menu screens. It's clunky to navigate and can get frustrating at times.
With all that being said, I am ecstatic about my decision to get this TV. The picture and the connectivity make it an amazing value for the price. I would recommend it to anyone buying a TV that doesn't have the money for the ST60.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.
