Panasonic TC-P60ST30 price range: $2,882.55

The good: The Panasonic TC-PST30 has excellent overall picture quality, with deep black levels, accurate color, and solid video processing. It can handle 1080p/24 sources well and exhibits the nearly perfect screen uniformity of plasma, as well as solid 3D picture quality. Its Internet suite is simple to use yet content-rich, and it includes a Wi-Fi dongle.
The bad: The chunky ST30 seems dated by today's flat-panel TV design standards. Picture quality flaws include limited brightness--a liability especially in bright rooms--and less-saturated color in its most accurate picture mode. The ST30 has fewer picture controls than the competition, doesn't include 3D glasses, and uses significantly more power than LCD TVs.
The bottom line: If you can live with its homely design, the excellent picture quality and feature set of the Panasonic TC-PST30 series combine to make it one of the best plasma TV values available.

Stunning TV for the $1,200 we paid for it at Costco.
by GAJ2 on February 27, 2012
Pros: Great picture, easy to setup, no "handshake" issues with the HDMI output of my Denon AVR1912.
Cons: Only if you stick to the "stock" picture settings and don't follow the picture setting provided by CNET.
Summary: This replaced my very good for its time Mitsubishi 55315 RPHDTV which looked great after professional calibration, ($350 calibration on a TV that cost me $1,800 7 years ago)....

Sorry, I didn't use the CNET TV settings as they were a bit dim; here is what I used from another source:
The picture on the Panasonic is miles better; no comparison.
I'm so glad my old TV wouldn't "talk" to my new receiver via its HDMI input otherwise I'd not have made this purchase, (I'm so cheap I never replace anything that is working).

Overall Quite Good, some set-up tips wanted please.
by gleckler on March 23, 2012
Pros: Easy general set-up. Used the CNET picture settings, so feeling better with that rather than the darker 'cinema' mode. Overall got exactly what I expected.
WiFi dongle set-up very quick.Cons: One main yet to be determined issue. Watching March Madness Bball last wk, about 4 times per min, what I would call juddering of a player, a motion pixel-ation. It was better last night, but there was still some odd, not as often, motion juddering.
Summary: I have used CNETs picture setting, turning off the Mosquito NR and Motion smoother etc. I changed all of them as of yesterday, so again, as said in the Cons ...
Summary: I have used CNETs picture setting, turning off the Mosquito NR and Motion smoother etc. I changed all of them as of yesterday, so again, as said in the Cons section, will watch the basketball closely this weekend about the motion juddering.
I used the Viera Link tools to set the TV speakers default to "Home theater", so now my Directv remote controls the Energy Take 5's speakers via the Denon AV receiver without having to switch to AV2 mode or wherever it was programmed too on the remote.
WiFi dongle goes into the TV directly. Does someone know how to get this VieraLink internet content to go back through my speakers? thanks ahead of time. -
Great Value for a 60 inch
by KuroRich on June 30, 2011
Pros: The best picture you can get for a 60 inch that costs just under $2k
Pretty thin screen, great linkage to other panasonic devices, free wifi dongle, decent upconversion of SD (as long as you bypass upconversion by your cable box) and a decent remoteCons: wifi features are not superfast, limited number of picture settings that won't satisfy an uber A/V geek, speakers are only ok, wish it came with 3d glasses included

Summary: You can't beat this tv for the money. I'm an A/V geek who owns a 50 inch Kuro monitor, which I basically smile at every day, in awe of its quality. This panny is no kuro, but I've gotta say that it's no disappointment. It's true that you won't have a lot of options for adjusting the picture, but the pre-sets are really decent (except standard, which is insanely dark and vivid, which is way too bright). I usually use cinema mode, and I've adjusted to it really fast. If you are an av geek looking for $3,000 picture in a $2,000 tv, you'll be disappointed. If you're the average viewer or an a/v person comfortable with getting a really good value, I'd take this tv. I had more money to spend, but the fact is that even the highest end tv's these days are no match for the Kuro, so why should I overpay for high end pansonics, samsungs or lg's? I'd rather be peeved at the picture on a $2k than a $3k. I had issues with the standard def images, but then realized that it was the fault of my cable box upconverting. I disabled the upconversion (by having it output everything in the lowest res) and let the tv do it for me, which resulted in a decent enough improvement. I like the way the tv interacts with my panny blu-ray (as soon as I enter a disk it switches to the bluray input, etc.) I still can't believe it cost $2k. I was a bit worried that my semi-bright room might result in a lot of reflection, but it's actually great in the day, save for those instances in which I'm watching very dark images. I was choosing between this plasma and an equivalent samsung. What did it for me was that Panasonic has the better overall track record and way better customer service if something goes wrong. I've read too many posts about people calling Samsung appliance dealers for help with their tv's. I do wish they included 3d glasses when I bought mine (I know they occasionally include them on a promotional basis, but then the tv is priced a bit higher). The speakers are ok, but nothing to write home about. The remote is better than the samsungs I've tried, and everything on the tv is fairly intuitive. In short, buy and appreciate this tv for the value.
