Product brief
Intro: The Panasonic Viera TH-65PZ750U is a 65-inch, plasma television.Compared to other plasma TVs on the market, it is expensive at around $6,005.In general, a liquid plasma display can recreate more realistic black-levels than an LCD display can.
Noteworthy Features: Has a 65-inch screen size. This is larger than the average TV on the market today, but is to be expected for a TV of this price. With built-in HDTV compatibility, this TV set can display images that are significantly sharper and more realistic than regular television, as long as the source is high definition.(It can easily render standard-resolution digital TV broadcasts and also depict the full resolution of widescreen DVD video.)The 3:2 pulldown feature of this TV reduces artifacts that can occur when motion pictures are transferred to a digital format such as DVD.
Weaker Features: None noted, given available product data.
Suitability: Made for those who are looking for a stylish, compact TV.
Value: Overall, this TV's price seems a bit steep, with respect to its features. In terms of viewable size, plasma TVs having similar viewable size have an average cost of around $4,590.
Suggestions: (1) For assistance in shopping for a new HDTV, review CNET editors' Ultimate HDTV Buying Guide.(2) If donating or repurposing your old TV is not a viable option, CNET encourages households to recycle their electronics. Please explore the following website to find a recycling center in your area Electronics Take Back Coalition.
Receiving HDTV broadcast: The three common methods to receive HDTV broadcasts are via satellite-TV set-top box, cable system set-top box, and over-the-air reception from a digital HDTV broadcast station.
True HDTV: True HDTV programming is broadcast in three resolutions: 720p, 1080i, or 1080p.
Tuner options: An HDTV-ready satellite or cable box will act as an outboard HDTV tuner for your digital television set that lacks a built-in HD tuner.

Best picture quality I have viewed!
by kellyncalifornia on November 20, 2007
Pros: Room lighting has little effect, although a dark room is best and is viewable from all angles in the room.
Cons: The unit is a little pricey but if you swing it, go for it.

Incredible Picture!
by Otrebla0 on March 9, 2008
Pros: Awsome Picture, Great Sound and Best Value!
Cons: Very Heavy and Huge Mount (Min 200 lbs)
Summary: I got a brand new unit for a net cost of $3,800. At this price, I doubt there anything out there that can match the value.
Beware of refurb ...Summary: I got a brand new unit for a net cost of $3,800. At this price, I doubt there anything out there that can match the value.
Beware of refurb and B Stock units. They do not have the 1 year warranty. Do your research! If the box has rip lables or if the serial number on the back of the TV is highlighted pink. It is a refurb or B stock unit.
Units will be around $3000 by year end with the introduction of the 800 series this year.
Picture quality is amazing and the sound was surprising overwhelming. Not sure we need a surround sound system anymore.
Highly recommend a professional calibration by an ISF certified technician. Not necessary, but highly recommended. Asked at Best Buy.
Rather than Blue-Ray, we went with an inexpensive 1080P Upconverting DVDR. Checkout Costco. Get the best HDMI cable you can find. They are worth it.
In a 15 by 15 room, there is no need for a suroundsound system. Over the fence, would be using the optical audio out, but the digital coax will work just fine too. We tried both.
We put the unit and other equipment in separate electrical circuits just as a precaution. Again not necessary.
We used a low profile mount into a sheered wall, so the unit comes out less than 5 inches. We are building a box around out of molding with holes for ventilation at the top and bottom to get the in set look.
Again not necessary.
From my research, laser tv and holographic tv is coming in the next 10 years. My 50 inch rear projection last me 15 years at about half the oost of this one. Given the depreciation of the dollar, if this unit lasts 10 years my investment would be more than covered.
Also, there are new laws for discarting electronic equpment. If you upgrade, you need to figure out how and where you are going to sent your old stuff. Do not accumulate in the garage. Sell it, give it to the Salvation Army or Goodwil and take the tax write off.
Good luck!2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Incredible 65" Plasma HDTV w/vivid colors & deep blacks
by robozepp on December 11, 2008
Pros: Beautiful picture - especially when watching Bluray (PS3) and Directv 720p & 1080i sources.
Over the air ATSC tuner is great.
Deep blacks - great contrast; Vivid true to life colors. LIke looking out a window.
Great set for watching movies at home.Cons: "Anti-reflective coating" on screen is a joke. During the day, in a well-lit room, this (and just about every other plasma set I've seen) is like a mirror.
Very heavy (200lbs) - requires special mounting bracket
Need at least 2 people to install.Summary: I've owned this Monster sized plasma for 6 months now and couldn't be happier. My family truly loves it. The picture quality is incredible. I came very close ...
Summary: I've owned this Monster sized plasma for 6 months now and couldn't be happier. My family truly loves it. The picture quality is incredible. I came very close to buying the 60" Kuro (because I had heard that Pioneer has the best picture quality). But, after comparing the two sets side-by-side at BestBuy, I felt that both hold their own in terms of picture. Both have the best blacks - far surpassing Samsung, Hitachi and LG. The Sharp LCD's may be brighter, but they look washed out. I decided to go for the 65" Panasonic over the 60" Kuro because, for me, the extra 5" of real estate was important. As my wife will attest - bigger IS better.
And, now that we have it at home, it does not disappoint. We have it mounted on the wall with 2 - 32" Aquos LCD sets mounted above. We have 3 directv HD-DVR's connected to the system, along with a PS3 for bluray. Great for the NFL Sunday Ticket. Polk Audio 6.1 surround speaker system connected into an Onkyo digital receiver allows our viewing experience to rival that of a commercial theater. A pretty penny for our investment, but wellll worth every dime.
For bluray, the PS3 is really a great alternative. Playing Call of Duty or Madden on this set is pretty cool. And bluray movies are awesome.
On the downside, this set does not come with a stand. It is sold separately and is rather pricey. Not a big deal for me, because I mounted it on the wall. But, something to be aware of. Also, be aware that the screen is very reflective. We have french doors along the back of the house - which is opposite the wall where the tv's are mounted. During the day, when sitting on the couch watching the tv's, I can see the patio through the doors which are behind me - from the refection that is coming off the tv. (This is NOT an issue with the 2 LCD's which hang above the plasma - since their screens have a matt, ant-reflective finish.) When watching a game or something, my brain kind of ignores the reflection on the plasma since I am focused on the action, but it is there and it is noticable - if I look for it. This is not an issue at night.
Overall, given the pros and cons, I have to say that I am verrry happy with the 65" Panasonic th-65pz750u plasma tv. I've compared it side-by-side with the new 850u set that just came out and cannot detect a difference in the picture. I actually prefer the frame on the 750u, as it is little bigger and richer looking (since the built in speakers are side-mounted in the frame, instead of bottom mounted as they are in the 850u). -

- Description: Panasonic 1080p plasmas match the most advanced pixel resolution and image-processing technology with an ability to beautifully reproduce fast-moving images, so every detail is rendered with amazing clarity, and all the action is delivered with unbelievable fluidity. 1080p also delivers amazing color reproduction resulting in impressive contrast and beautiful, natural colors. What you get is warm, accurate skin tones, deep blacks, gorgeous greens, breathtaking blues and vivid reds for color that's as rich and bold as life itself. Movie images are some of the most difficult for TV displays to reproduce. By working closely with movie studios for many years and applying research by the Panasonic Hollywood Lab, Studio Reference Mode on Panasonic plasma TVs enables the replication of colors that was originally intended by the director - exactly the way they are seen on reference monitors in professional film editing rooms. These dazzling images can be further enjoyed with the stunning detail and beauty of a Panasonic Blu-ray Disc player. Pro-Setting Mode offers the precise, highly detailed adjustment of image quality to suit personal preferences. Just the touch of a button on the remote executes setting adjustments such as tint, brightness, contour emphasis, gamma compensation and black expansion, which would otherwise require the use of special equipment to accomplish. EZ Sync HDAVI Control lets you operate all of your home theater components by pressing a single button on your TV's remote control. GalleryPlayer allows you to enjoy the world's finest high definition art and photography on your Panasonic HD plasma TV. Use the free GalleryPlayer software to purchase and download the images you like, and then play them on your Panasonic HDTV right from your PC. Sign-up is easy and free.
