Very Good, Overlooked TV

Pros: 5000:1 contrast ratio, picture quality, price
Cons: Stand does not swivel

Summary: I was looking for the best flat panel LCD tv I could findfor around $500-600 , and having previously seen Samsung LCD HDTV's I looked on their site first. I was attracted to this model due to it's high contrast ratio, and its 3 HDMI port. The size would also be nice for my room, not too big, not too small. It's nice having an AV and HDMI port on the side of the TV which other lower Samsung models do not have(some also don't even have HDMI ports). This model shares features with higher priced models which is also a plus. Overall it is a very nice TV for the price(personally I think it is the best out there in this price range and featureset). Highly recommended!

Samsung does it again!
by mattsh33 on October 13, 2008
Pros: Awesome picture, deep blacks, beautiful cabinet
Cons: What did they just say? Huh? I can't hear that? Maybe I'm going deaf and just don't know it...but the volume at the maximum setting still sucks on this television!!!
Summary: "I purchased this television a couple of days ago and truly love it. At the moment I have it hooked up a DVR box through my local cable provider. I ...
Summary: "I purchased this television a couple of days ago and truly love it. At the moment I have it hooked up a DVR box through my local cable provider. I used a HDMI cable to connect the 2 sources and ran into a bit of a snag...I was getting no sound! After running a few tests I realized it was a problem with the cable box and not my TV. (I hooked my Blu Ray up through HDMI and got sound and I also hooked up my other DVR cable box through HDMI and got sound) The HD channels look amazing and the standard def channels are OK. I wish I could have given this TV a rating of 5 stars but the sound sucks on this thing. Don't get me wrong, its not full of static or bad sounding...the volume just does reach any level of loudness. If someone is vacuuming in the other room and you turn the volume to max...you still won't hear over the vacuum! But other then that I have always been impressed with Samsung's LCD televisions and since picture quality means the most to me, I believe this TV is excellent."

Works Great but breaks fast (< 1 year)
by nihilo2000 on September 3, 2009
Pros: Very good picture quality, Very user friendly, looks great.
Cons: Mine broke after 8 months of minimal usage. It will not turn on anymore. Look around the internet and you will find it is VERY common for Samsung TVs to do so ...

Summary: I never used the TV heavily, probably less than 200 hours of viewing and no more than 2 hours at the time. One evening, I was watching and it turned off. I tired to turn it on and it would not. The LED was blinking every three seconds or so. Unplugged it, tried to turn it on again ...never got it to turn on again ...and the power led kept blinking ...the next day, I got back from work and the TV was on ! It seemed to work perfectly. Called tech service, told me to ship it and now I am waiting to see what the problem is. One thing for sure, I don't know if I will buy Samsung again ...

Broke after just four months

Summary: I liked this TV quite well until it abruptly broke after about four months very moderate usage (aggressive horizontal flickering transitioning into complete whiteout). Well, that happens - but the truly regrettable part is Samsung?s customer service, which as it turns out requires any TV under 26 inches to be shipped to New Jersey for repairs? I would like to add that I live in the Chicago vicinity, which by most accounts would be considered a major metropolitan area that you might think would be supported by a technician or two. Not so.
Good luck trying to get through to Samsung?s ?Executive Customer Relations? department to which they transfer you when you wish to dispute having to mail your whopping TV to New Jersey. The lines are always busy and you will be on hold until you are told that your call could not be connected and that it will now be ended - ?Goodbye?. Call reps managers are also not available to be spoken to and emails are never responded to. When you are told that they will call you back in ?24 to 48 hours,? you are probably being misled. Those calls never happened in my case. I finally found an alternative number to this ironically labeled ?executive? service department by Googling it and actually got to talk to a person after waiting for about 30 min. Unfortunately, this person also told me to ship my whopping TV to New Jersey and her manager was not available to be spoken to?
So, if you need a TV that works for more than four months and/or don?t live in New Jersey, this is probably not the TV for you. -
Good picture - Bad Sound
by fmcmurry on January 30, 2009
Pros: Not very much good to say. The picture quality is good, but nearly as good as my daughter's Sony.
Cons: This device is in our bedroom where things are usually quiet. We still can't hear it until we turn the sound up to 45. Then it vibrates the plastic housing. We sent Samsung a complaint, and got NO response. Sound and service suck.
Summary: I wanted to fix this problem with external speakers, but was advised by Best Buy that we had to buy a $100 amplifier as well as the $200 speakers. Not ...
Summary: I wanted to fix this problem with external speakers, but was advised by Best Buy that we had to buy a $100 amplifier as well as the $200 speakers. Not a good solution. I would never buy another Samsung.
Since writing the above review, Samsung did indeed contact me and offered some corrective advice. I have tried their advice and it seems to have helped. They also left a number to get back to them it the problem recurs. I must soften my comments about their service.

Summary: I use this TV in my bedroom. I was going to get the 32" version but it would have taken up too much space. The 3 HDMI ports cut down on the number of cables I was using with my old TV, so that helps with the tangled mess behind the unit. "The field of view" is better than my old Sharp 15" Aquos LCD and I thought that it was good, at the time. HD broadcasts are unbelievably crisp and clean.
I'm really happy with this purchase and I can't think of any negative comments. -
