Although CNET did not review the 40-inch Samsung LN40A750, we did review the 46-inch Samsung LN46A750. Judging from their spec sheets, the two Samsung LCD HDTVs are basically identical but for screen size, so we expect that the review of the 46-incher will give a good indication of how the 40-inch model will perform. For more information, refer to the full review of the Samsung LN46A750.
7 out of 10 - Very good Good, but I want better

Let's start by pointing out this is my first HDTV. I previously had a JVC 36" SDTV with 800 lines of resolution, a very, very good tube tv. First the bad. I had a Sony XBR4 for 2 days before trading it in because of the loud fan noise. This tv also has fan noise but only about half. Still unexceptable. The SD quality is bothersome, why can't it be as good as a tube tv you would find in the trash. Why is SD important, because like it or not most channels are still SD and even most HD channels show SD programming that look, well it sucks. The bezel gives off a optical glow at night but doesn't bother me. I have seen clouding in dark scenes, and a purple haze color when viewing from certain angles. The sound is no good the xbr is much better. I have also seen flashlighting from the top two corners. Heres the good. The motion is handled very well, better than the xbr and there is no streaking. Color look great. lot's of inputs, 4 hdmi's funny I may need more. The remote is fine, with it's motion lighting.
It's hard for me to say this is the best LCD out there, it probably is. It seems to be the best I have seen in person or in stores. I only wish SD was like my old tube tv and there was no fan noise whatsoever. If that had been the case I would have given this tv a 10, but it's not. If you can't make a tv that show's great SD and HD then maybe you shouldn't be making televisions, this goes for every company.

I've visited Best Buy and Circuit City half a dozen times over the last three weeks. When I finally decided to take the plunge, I discovered that many people bought their TVs over the Memorial Day weekend and took advantage of the huge sales. My first choice was the 47LN650; but didn't like the curved frame; so looked at 47LN750. But they were completely sold out. 52LN750 too. So ended up getting the 40" 750. I recently watched the NBA finals game 1 on it with a friend; and he could not stop talking about the picture quality. I was pretty impressed myself. It's unreal to be able to see facial lines and wrinkles on this thing. It's simply amazing. And all this with a HDTV antenna. It looks great; and I can't wait to wall mount it. The only few minor things I'm not too crazy about are the intro sound you get when you turn on and off the TV. The sound volume seems higher than normal volume. The wheel on the remote control gets a bit of getting used to. The photo gallery and USB flash memory feature is awesome too. I would highly recommend it. And if you can find a 46", then I would go for that.

I go to look at review of the TV (Samsung LN40A750). I see the title and picture of the TV but the review is of a Sony GPS Navigation. Come on CNET, if we are to depend on you for reviews on products, stop messing around. Another thing, update the reviews for products that have been hot for a long time, as old products now compare with other newer products (Logitech Z2300). Thanks.
