The good: Excellent black-level performance; accurate color overall; numerous picture controls and tweaks; sleek styling with inch-deep panel; superb streaming and widget content via well-integrated Apps platform; solid 3D picture quality.
The bad: Cannot properly handle 1080p/24 sources; less efficient than LCD models; duplication of Apps and widgets can be confusing; does not include 3D glasses.
The bottom line: Among the better 2D performers available, the Samsung PNC7000 series plasma also delivers 3D for less than the competition.

This sleek 58" Plasma has a great picture.
by BS_MD on May 26, 2010
Pros: Sleek design
unique charcoal bezel
3D capable with 2D to 3D conversion
IPTV
beautiful pictureCons: Has motion artifiact "auras" that I previously only associated with 120/240 LCD technology
2D to 3D conversion is inconsistent.
Should come with integrated WiFi receiver.Summary: This TV, while dimmer than its 55" LED counterparts still provides high-end picture, tons of features, and an aggressive price point.

WiFi is not integrated. Dongle sold separately.
Samsung pushes the envelope with design and this model is no exception. The unique charcoal finish provides an alternative to the gloss black available in most other sets. The PN58C7000 is also thinner than last years model, but is too large to use Samsung special string mount.
Picture is phenomenal with rich color and smoother motion than the LED,LCD options. However, I have noticed some of the aura type artifact during motion. This puzzled me as I had previously only noticed this on LED/LCD 120/240 Hz. As mentioned before, when compared to LED the picture is decidedly dimmer, with the UN55C8000 actually providing more detail in dark areas of the picture - go figure. All in all a great buy which will satisfy many "big TV" consumers.
2D-3D conversion works pretty well with depth set to 10 on Blu-Ray (I have seen this one on Avatar, Hellboy II, and Transformers 2). Conversion is a bit iffy on various 720/1080i broadcasts however. Often times I can't even make the glasses "turn on" while standing in front of this set. A customer returned this set due to inconsistency of 2D to 3D conversion (although it's possible he just didn't see the 1500 value difference between this and the 60PK750 - once you factor in glasses and 3D Blu-Ray). An install technician verified that glasses would flicker off and on during some programming. Room lighting was determined to be somewhat at fault, as was viewing angle. I suspect the higher resolution broadcast, the better the 2D-3D conversion performance.
I have not assessed the IPTV features.
The jury is out on 2D-3D conversion, however you should get some value out of this feature on 1080p games and Blu-Ray. All in all with the 3D, the sleek look, IPTV, and powerhouse picture quality the PN58C7000 is a blockbuster value piece.
If you don't care about the 3D at all you should probably get 60PK750.

DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG
by burntBySamsung on May 24, 2011
Pros: was a good TV until is broke. Purchased 1/23/2011 screen popped, then crackled 04/16/2011 at which time TV dead.
Cons: Samsung advised will not replace since they blame ME the customer stating that I must have damaged it. I explained that I did not touch the TV and was just watching it.
Summary: DO NOT BUY and make the $2358 purchase error that I made. I am now buying Panasonic TCP60GT30 a more replyiable product. Samsung will not stand behind their product but ...

Great picture, features, styling.
by dirk_avery on March 8, 2011
Pros: Works perfect. Sharp pictures, deep blacks, beautiful colors. Very thin. Looks like a painting on the wall. Great viewing from any angle in any light.
Cons: Hmmm... Hard to think of any but one is the expense of the 3D glasses. Still don't have any because they are too expensive.

Incredible Picture, Great 3D, Beautiful Styling..BUZZZZ
by snow4days on February 22, 2011
Pros: Beautiful colors with deep blacks
One of the best pictures I have ever seen
Great looking TV
Able to adjust ever aspect of the picture
Very Thin
3D impressed me / Not a gimmickCons: One problem and one problem only......the BUZZZ.
Buzz is only able to be heard in one small spot, but that spot is right dead center in the screen
I found a way around this, but shouldn't have to modify my viewing positionSummary: I wanted a great looking TV, scratch that, incredible looking picture in the biggest screen I could afford. This TV fit it perfectly. I spent 6 months researching and nothing ...
Summary: I wanted a great looking TV, scratch that, incredible looking picture in the biggest screen I could afford. This TV fit it perfectly. I spent 6 months researching and nothing for the money compared. The Panasonic was nice, but more expensive and to me the Samsung bezel is so much nicer.
I was first set on LED, but after looking at every store there was locally and visiting several friends houses that just got TVs. I compared the Samsung LED UN55C7000, Sony LED KDL-52NX800, and the VIZIO XVT3D554SV. Once I started comparing them to plasmas, there was no comparison. Burn In and Image Retention was a concern, but after reading forums and talking to friends with newer plasmas, I didn't worry as much.
After breaking in the TV, I adjusted the settings I got from cnet and the picture and colors really popped. I played with setting from avsforums but for me, I found cnet settings were the best to my eye. I plan on a professional calibration after a few months. I have already modified the TV from 7000 model to 8000 model and it opens several more options and I recommend this to anyone.
TV has really impressed me with the way it handles fast action on the screen and I was not expecting much from the 3D but I was blown away when watching Under The Sea 3D. About half way through there is a cod fish scene that blows everyone away when I play it. The depth is unbelieveable and the glasses do not bother me at all. I probably will not watch 2D-3D conversion very often, but it does look pretty good with certain programming.
****On to the BUZZZZZ and what I did to work around it.****
I kept the TV because in every aspect it was exactly what I wanted. The buzz was tough to deal with and I almost returned it. I checked 3 other Samsung plasmas and I could find the exact same buzz in a 63C7000, another 58C7000, and a 58C8000. It is very pin point to where you can hear it. I had my TV perfectly at eye level with the center of the screen and was sitting right in front of it about 12' back and the buzz was unbearable. Was pretty mad actually. I moved about 10" to the left or the right, and the buzz completely disappears. I found that with my eyes level with the Samsung label at the bottom of the TV, I could not hear it either and when I was standing I couldn't hear it.
My solution:
I raised my TV about 10" and now I can no longer hear the buzz and I do not hear it when standing. If I duck down though and get centered, I can hear it but I will never stand this way and there is no seating that would put anyone in this spot. I hate that I had to do this, but I found it really didn't change my viewing comfort. It has really worked out for me and the friend with the 58C8000 did this also and got the same results. I am not sure how much exchanging the TV would have helped. I can't hear it in the showroom, but every Samsung plasma I have seen in a home, I can find this sweet spot where the buzz comes through. I think a lot of people don't notice it because there TV is mounted on the wall or sitting a littler higher than eye level from the center of the screen.
Mounting or put it on a stand at or higher than 38" seems to be the plan to have with this TV. Maybe others have different experience and I read in forums where some say they don't hear it, but on 4 TVs I can find it.
Picture, TV Stying, 3D, 1080p, and deep blacks, this TV is impossible to beat for the price.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great, Except for buzz thru my speakers.
by aluesse on November 17, 2010
Pros: best picture i have seen.
Cons: has the infamous BUZZ.
Summary: I returned mine for a Panasonic TCP54v25. I hope Samsung gets the Buzz out. Known problem, No clear answer to the problem.

Great Plasma Set

Summary: This is a great tv with awesome picture quality. 3d is a bonus, but if you want a great tv with lots of options, this is the one. If you want thin, this is also the way to go as its barely an inch thick. I don't think i've seen thinner except the 8000 series (think giant Ipod, cuz that's how thin they are!) which costs at least three times as much!

I never knew TV could be this good

Aesthetically stunning design
Full control over picture adjustments
Samsung Apps are just OKCons: Typical Plasma issues

no built-in wifi ($80 for the wireless dongle)

Summary: After digging around hundreds of sites, reading every review I could get my hands on over a three month period, I finally found a good package deal on this set and took the plunge. Great TV, solid picture, overall a great deal. Also, while 3D content is pretty scarce, this model works out of the box with DirecTV receivers (they have a couple of 3D channels including ESPN).
It would appear the economy has taken it's toll on luxury items. Final price for 58" TV, 3d Blu-Ray player, and 3D starter kit (2 glasses & Monsters vs. Aliens) was $1839.00 delivered (purchased 08/24/2010).
