The good: The Samsung E6500 plasma TV offers some of the best black levels we've seen at this or any other price. The TV offers excellent value for money, particularly the 51-inch model. Its styling mostly lacks ostentation -- apart from the stand -- and will suit a variety of living spaces. The apps suite is usable and the Smart TV interface is quick and easy to use.
The bad: Despite the deep blacks, the E6500 isn't able to get as bright as other TVs and so contrast suffers ever so slightly. The TV is merciless with noisy sources and presents them as is.
The bottom line: The Samsung E6500 series is an excellent television that offers classy looks, outstanding picture quality, and a great price.

Summary: Bought this tv as a replacement to my Toshiba 50" DLP television. When the television was delivered to my house it took me literally 5 minutes to put together the stand, hook up the HDMI cables and turn it on.
After the television was turned I activated the Wifi features, did the update, and was watching television. So all in all it took me 10 minutes to get my tv up and running.
I watched so many different things after I had all the hook ups and update completed me and my wife were truely amazed by the clarity, colors, and easy hook up. After we finished surfing channels, we watched a 3D movie. The 3D on this is truely amazing, we said, "It's better than the movie theater".
After I the research I did for plasma vs lcd vs led, I am glad I went plasma. So for all that read this, this tv has everything that a family could want in a tv.
I see that people are posting things about a buzzing sound. I have not heard this buzzing and the sound is amazing. The sound is so amazing, I can turn the volume to 15 - 20 and it's too loud.
Note, you can check for low price guarantee of this TV at: 600hzplasmahdtvs.wordpress.com/samsung-pn60e6500/
After a month, I post an update. Enjoy!2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I spent months debating about this set, and the Panasonic ST50, driving myself utterly insane, and roaming several AV focused sites, such as HDTVtest, AVS, and AV. When not researching online, I would go out to several stores and demo the respective units myself. It was a long process, and in the end I pulled the trigger on this particular set. Yes, the Panasonic has the better black levels. That is the truth. However, only slightly. Some people may care about that slight improvement, some people may not. To me, personally, it was not enough. I needed an overall value that the Panasonic could not offer.
The e6500 offers better input lag, motion handling, better output of non optimal HD sources such as from a cable provider or streaming applications, a better anti reflective filter, and bette color reproduction. Another selling point to me was also what most professional AV sites have observed: excellent resistance to Image retention. I have observed none. This is indeed a beautiful set. The picture quality is amazing, the Smart TV features are robust, and of course, the 60 inch size truly makes for an immersive experience. Even the design of the set itself is gorgeous with classy looks.
The AR filter works great, and the set gets plenty bright with no visable reflections that can be a bane to plasma. What I will say is this - invest in a home theater system, or a home theater in a box, or even a sound bar. Why? The speakers are not very good. The sound output is too low, with not enough depth. I have to pump the volume up for this set. Besides, if you are investing in a 60 inch tv, might as well invest a decent sound system for it in my opinion.
I just was not able to put up with the some of the issues plaguing the Panasonic model, which is excellent by the way. Issues such as stubborn image retention, vertical bands, and dirty screen effects. Not every one will experience those issues, as it seems to be a panel lottery, but I have read enough complaints about them in the past year to make me rethink my original choice. I also witnessed some of these issues in store, but not on the Samsung.
Speaking of a lottery, yes it is true that some people may get a "buzzer". Some people get a loud one, some a faint one, and some none at all. I am happy to say that mine has no buzz at all.
Again, the Samsung and Panasonic are both terrific sets. One cannot go wrong. It is a question of what you can live with and what you can live without. This is just one customers recommendation. Pros: Crisp clear picture (using same settings CNET used while testing)
HD channels are simply amazing.
Colors are accurate and vibrant.
Built in Web browser.
Bezel and build quality are sophisticated looking.Cons: Not many, if I had one gripe, it would be regular non-HD channels pixilate. The picture is suprisingly bad in non-HD, but you buy a TV like this for its HD capabilities, and they are amazing.

Summary: Ordered this TV from Crutchfield, based soley off of CNET's review. I am very impressed with the picture quality and CNET's review was spot on for the most part. A bargain at $1600.00. The thing I am suprisingly most impressed with, not ever owning a 3D capable TV is how awsome this feature is. I didn't make my purchase based off 3D capability, because I didn't think I would use it much. Well I was watching Sunday football in HD and thought I would just see what it looked like in 3D. WOW! switching it back to HD was almost a let down. Which is crazy, because the HD looks so good on it. Don't understand CNET's complaint about noise. I sit with my eyeline being about 9 feet away with the TV wall mounted at eye level, and can't hear any buzzing. Maybe I haven't pushed the TV hard enough, but so far this has been a non-issue for me. This is not your daddy's plasma, it handles ambient light very well. I was concerned about glare from outside light sources, and am impressed with how much plasma technology has advanced.
