The good: The Samsung PND8000 series has outstanding overall picture quality, with excellent black-level performance, and the most accurate color of any TV we've ever reviewed. It can handle bright rooms well and exhibits the nearly perfect screen uniformity of plasma, as well as superb 3D picture quality. It includes built-in Wi-Fi and a comprehensive set of picture controls. The Smart Hub Internet portal boasts more apps and streaming services than the competition, along with a functional Web browser, and is easier to use thanks to the included dual-sided Bluetooth keyboard with a screen and QWERTY keyboard. The PND8000's design is one the most attractive of any plasma we've seen.
The bad: The relatively expensive PND8000 cannot produce full shadow detail or proper 1080p/24 cadence without sacrificing some black-level performance. Smart Hub lacks Amazon Instant, its search is next to useless, and its interface can be cluttered and confusing.
The bottom line: With picture quality that's nearly the equal of the tough competition, as well as best-in-class design and features, the Samsung PND8000 makes a strong case for being the best overall plasma TV of 2011.

Pros: Ultra thin screen, beautiful even when it's off... Super, super black levels... bright picture even in sunlit room... Remote does everything !!!
Cons: Expensive... Heavy, as a precaution I used three of us to hang it... Internet apps are slow

I have only had this for one week, (replacing a 52" Samsung LCD that devolped red dots...). Wow, what a fantastic difference !!! Last weekend we watched football, US Open tennis, Nascar, and PGA golf... in live sports this television has no peers... Period !!! 3D was not a consideration so I can't make a positive or negative review of 3D performance, but so far this is the best television that you can buy at this price point... No regrets... I will update in a couple of months... but if you're sitting on the fence ( I took almost a year...) GO AHEAD AND PULL THE TRIGGER !!! You will not regret anything except for waiting... lol

Pros: Display is visually stunning from the bezel to the thin profile. Picture quality out of the box is outstanding. Amazing viewing experience.
Cons: Some issues w/ the Yahoo widgets and some clunkiness in the Smarthub interface. Youtube searches can't be entered through the QWERTY keypad in the app.
Summary: Overall this TV is awesome. I waited 3 years for a TV of this quality. The only drawbacks are almost a wash as no TV has a PC quality interface ...

Summary: This is the tv I've decided to buy. Havn't purchased a "main" tv in 5 years so here's my question. I dont want to go tomorrow to best buy and pay $3200 for this tv if its $2200 in sept. So with the flagship plasmas does anyone know what the arc is as far as cost. In other words if the actual cost for a store on this tv is $2500 and will never hit that till next feb when the new models come out and it will only be $300 less in 3 months I feel pretty ok pulling the trigger now but if these flagship tv's have a more dramatic price drop I'll hold off. Hoping someone out there follows these cycles and can give some advice so I can make a more informed decision as to what % off retail I'm comfortable with paying. Thanks.
