Amazing TV....if you're sitting directly in the middle.
by benchmarker on June 7, 2010
Pros: Amazing Picture (see cons), Slim and sexy, Thin bezel, internet connectible (for firmware), network connectible (for streaming videos and images)
Cons: This TV only has one con, but it's a pretty big one. You probably won't see it in the store because they put bright vivid images on screen for demos. Dark scenes are HORRIBLE if viewing from an angle. The picture simply gets washed out.

Summary: This TV produces a picture that rivals all other TV's I've seen - as long as I stand/sit directly in the center. This TV has a horribly narrow range side-to-side. If you have company over or even have a family of four or more, the people viewing at an angle will get robbed of the beautiful image the people directly in front will get to see. WARNING - you will most likely NOT see this in a store because the store shows bright and vivid demos which makes it harder to see the faults. If possible, view this TV in a darker room and ask to see a darker demo. Then, and only then, will you really see how badly contrast and colors wash out from angle views. Blacks turn gray and colors lose saturation. What it looks like is that someone cranks up the gamma more and more the further you get away from dead center. You'll fall in love with this TV from straight on but from an angle, you'll be sadly disappointed. We watched Pixar's "Up" and Warner Bros "Dark Knight". We have an "L" configuration with our couch and love seat. Couch is facing the TV, and love seat perpendicular. Whoever got the love seat couldn't believe how bad the picture was. Even walking into the room (from the left side of the TV) people would say "What's wrong with the TV". If you have a setup where people will never have to view at an angle, this TV looks absolutely amazing. But be warned, this TV really does start to look bad from an angle greater than about 20° off-center and only gets worse the further you go - especially dark scenes.

Beautiful Picture Quality, but lacks the horsepower!
by RocknRolz on May 30, 2010
Pros: The picture quality is absolutly perfect. Sure there is a tiny bit of flashlighting, but that is to be expected. It does not bother me. This TV has 100% perfect picture quality in my eyes.
Cons: The Judder, also known as "Skipping Frames", "Choppy Picture", ect... It is just god awful. It also lacks a composite video input to go along with the component input. They are combined so you can only use one or the other.
Summary: I bought the UN55C6300 and am extremely pleased with the picture quality. However right out of the box I noticed that the lips were not in sync, and also that ...
Summary: I bought the UN55C6300 and am extremely pleased with the picture quality. However right out of the box I noticed that the lips were not in sync, and also that the display was skipping frames very often.
I have a DVD player, Blu-ray player, and a Satellite HD Receiver (Dish Network) All hooked up, and all sources have the same problems. I've tried the HDMI input, Coaxial, Component, and Composite inputs. All result in laggy video and out of sync audio.
If I use the HDMI cable and the tv speakers, the audio is in sync. However with any external audio receiver it becomes evident right away that the video lags the audio by a lot (at least 120ms). Even if I turn "Game mode" on, the video still lags, just not as bad.
Even if I upgrade to an audio receiver that has a delay function to try to sync the two, that would not help because the time between the audio and video delay seems to vary a lot. In other words, without changing anything, the audio and video will go closer to in sync and further from in sync throughout the day. This is a very frustrating problem. My BluRay Player has a built in delay function, but it maxes out at 120ms. When I have it at that setting, the lip sync problem is significantly improved, however the video STILL lags the audio very noticeably!
The choppy video appears significantly when the "Auto motion plus" feature is enabled. The strange thing is that even if turn this setting on to "Custom" and turn both the blur reduction and the judder reduction to zero, it will still skip frames regularly. With the Auto Motion Plus turned off it will still skip frames, just very infrequently.
I've this same review at other sites and attached a video that demonstrates the choppy video problem. You can see at the beginning of the video that the panning looks smooth. Then I turn on the "Auto Motion Plus" on the TV, and play the same exact segment again. This time you notice that the video looks much more clear during the panning, however it is extremely choppy. Every second it "Skips frames".
Another strange thing about the choppy video problem is that the frequency of frame skipping changes with what show/movie is playing. For example, LOST in HD would skip frames every two seconds, driving us nuts and forcing us to shut off the "Auto Motion Plus". However Spiderman 3 on the same channel also in HD showed hardly any frame skipping at all. Blu-rays allowed me to have the auto motion plus setting on pretty high, but it would still randomly skip frames throughout each film.
I know one of the responses I'm going to get will be just turn the auto motion off, but this setting does a spectacular job and was one of my main motivations for upgrading to a Samsung TV in the first place. Even with the frame skipping you can see that the picture is so much clearer during panning and overall, and it is such a shame to have to turn it off.
The best way to describe what I am seeing is that it is like I am watching TV on my computer, and my computer's processor can't keep up, and therefore the video skips a bunch of frames every so often. This makes watching anything a lot less "fluid" and distracts me from getting "sucked in" to what I'm watching.
I called Samsung and they said they've never heard of either of these problems. This gave me hope that I just have a bad TV. So they sent a technician out, and he replaced the processor and the power supply. No cigar, same exact problems after he leaves. So I exchanged the TV for another brand new one, take it home, and same exact problems. Looks like that's the way this TV is supposed to perform.
Another thing that really irks me is that they combined the component and composite inputs. This means I have to choose one or the other two hook up; I don't get both. That means if I want to use my VCR, I have to disconnect the component input from my DVD or Blu-ray player.
Between the audio and video always out of sync with my external speakers, and the fact that I can't use the "Auto Motion Plus" feature that looks so amazing but does not work properly, I am at a loss as to what to do. My wife is distracted by these issues, and shes not a picky person at all. Do I hang on to this and pray for a firmware update that will magically fix either or both of these problems, or do I take it back and try for another brand? I'm thinkin' its going back.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Bright colors, feature rich, needs more inputs
by G1187 on June 1, 2010
Pros: Was a standout to my eye in the store. Beautful colors, bright whites, deep blacks. Sleek design. Plays a neat little tone when powered off. Easy to use interface.
Cons: Plasticky looking picture quality. Light leakage from corners in dark room. Needs another set of component inputs

Summary: I purchased the UN55C6400 from Costco. I upgraded from a 62" Toshiba DLP rear projector which I though had a great picture. After hours of staring at all the different sets and reading countless reviews I decided to bring this one home. The first issue with this one for me is the set doesn't have enough component inputs. Nor does it have a composite input. No port to connect my Wi. This alone is a show stopper as Comcast was unable to supply me with an HDMI style cable box..
Picture quality is a mixed bag. The colors are nice but everything has an artificial look to it. Everything from Blu Ray to HD network broadcast has the same look. It's sharp and crisp but not warm or cinematic. The biggest issue for me was its ability to create deep black. In a normally lit room black looks fine however in a darkened room the screen leaks light from the edges. And that is something I couldn't adjust to my satisfaction.
Sound quality is decent but what can you expect from a TV that's only an inch thick? I run my sound through a home theatre system. The remote is very straighforward and simple to use even in the dark.
If you're looking for a good looking LED-LCD TV you can hang on the wall and are not that critcal of the issues I see, than go for it. It's a little more expensive than the Visio, Sharp, and Sony. But you'll probably love it.
I saw a couple of these units running at the local Circuit City. They were "out of box" returns that had been on display for over eight months which means they have been on all day, every day and still looked as good as a brand new one.
If you're a techie and expect perfection this won't cut it. The technology isn't quite there yet.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Awesome Picture.

Pros: Picture quality is top notch.
Cons: Not sure if it is the TV or the cable signal, picture or motion gets distored from time to time.

Summary: This tv was replacing a 40" Sony. Very dissapointed when the tv decided not to turn on on the second day of ownership. Tried to call Samsung customer service and they were closed. Who is closed at 8pm on a Monday night? When online to the live chat and that was down. It said to call the 800 number. What a waste of time buying this tv. I'm taking it back to the store and buying a Sony.

Great picture qulality and best value
by Dactar on November 24, 2010
Pros: I like the picture quality of 55 in. Samsun 6300. If you are not a fan of 3D imgae, you can't get better. I have hooked up with a Sony AV receiver via HDMI cable. It figured out the remote controls for all remote contorls.
Cons: The base is attached with a one unstable round plastic structure attached with 5 small scress. If you want to use it on a TV stand, it is NOT stable It tilt nicely but very vulneralble if you are not careful. you may break it. should hand it on wall

Incredible Value
by ithandyman on September 23, 2010
Pros: Great looking TV, looks as good as any new models. Great pricing on this model.
Cons: No wifi (wired only). There is some loss of color when viewing from an angle but none visible sitting on my 12 foot long section couch.
Summary: Very happy with this purchase. I am not a fan of the 3D systems. LEDTVs make all the difference. If I could afford it I would buy another one.

Beautiful picture quality, myrid of Picture settings
by asparagus64 on July 26, 2010
Pros: Sharp, beautiful picture. Lots of custom picture settings.
Cons: Picture quality is best can be. Sharp, colorful, deep blacks. Only thing is it's just not film like. It's like watching home movies from a HD camcorder, not a Holloywood film. You feel an obvious disconnect from the movie you're watching.
Summary: Also, the optical audio output on the TV does NOT support 5:1 dolby digital. Only 2:1. You will have to rely on the output sources of your devices.

Great picture quality but terrible black levels.
by GBarks on July 13, 2010
Pros: Beautiful picture quality. Very thin screen.
Cons: Looks great until you get it into a dark or dimmly lit room. Just like another reviewer noted. There is a white light leakage from the corners. Kind of high price to pay and suffer picture quality issues like that.
Summary: If I had read these reviews before I bought the thing on sale, like I normally do, I would not have bought it. As it stands, I have it hung ...
Summary: If I had read these reviews before I bought the thing on sale, like I normally do, I would not have bought it. As it stands, I have it hung on the wall in my master bedroom. Off angle issues are a non issue for me in this configuration. I'll just have to make sure I watch it with the lights on or learn to deal with white lights shining in from all the corners. My advice, take a pass on this model for now. LED LCD will get better in time. I like the guy's advice about making the store show you a dark scene in a dark room. Good advice for the future. It would be nice to see CNET Editors weigh in on this product line and help us novices out a little in advance.
