This Set ROCKS!

Summary: I bought this almost as soon as it was available (ok, I waited a couple of weeks after it was released until the first package deal with glasses, 3-D DVD Player, and the stupid Monsters 3d movie), wanted to use it a while a while before I published a review.
I've had it about 4 months now, so it's time.
This television ROCKS!!! The picture is amazing, *everybody* who sees it is instantly jealous. Then I tell the to look from the side, and they are again blown away...it's 1" thick! I mounted it on a power-tilt wall mount...as soon as it comes on, it tilts down form the wall, and back up when I turn it off. They sell the mounts on Amazon, but I was in too much a hurry and got it from a local big-box store (for more $). Definitely a great accessory for this set, and at 50 lbs you can use mounts meant for smaller sets (as long as the VESA is right).
There are a bunch of apps (which seem to want to "update" precisely when I try to show off this feature to my friends...not a great selling point, but if I used the apps more often it wouldn't happen exactly when I was trying to show off!), that are neat and some are quite useful. It was easy to match my set to the different services. ***Computer required to look up website and enter your tv's unique number before using app***. Netflix streaming rental app is really nice (although the movies for streaming aren't the newest ones) and I ditched my Blockbuster mail-in service immediately after realizing their app only *sells* movies, no rentals, and the Netflix combo mail and streaming was cheaper anyhow. The YouTube app is great, have watched lots of those in full screen mode. Weather, traffic, and other stuff too. I tend to just watch TV on the set most of the time.
I bought the 3-D DVD player, too, which seems to have the same apps...so there's too much redundancy for my taste there. Also, as soon as I turn on the DVD player, it takes over the TV immediately...that blows, sometimes I want to give the DVD a chance to warm up and get staged while I'm watching the end of something else. No *real* problem, just grab the remote and switch inputs again...but annoying for sure.
The sound leaves something to be desired...but what can you expect from a 1" thick television??? I feed the output to a Samsung soundbar with wireless subwoofer and all is well!
Controls are pretty intuitive, all made sense. The remote is really neat and shiny silver, and there are strange (color a/b/c/d) buttons I have no idea what they do...but I could look it up if I wanted. They may be macros or something. The DVD player's remote is similar, and can control some of the TV functionality, too...which I like.
3D is...well...there, and still under development by broadcasters. I haven't done much with that, as there's not that much to do. I didn't realize some World Cup games were broadcast in 3D, or I would have tried to stand that horrible buzzing sound form those obnoxious horns to see how it looked. "Converting" regular signals to 3-D seems silly, but every now and then you can see an effect. A basketball game did look 3D-ish, for sure. The glasses are a bit less comfortable than I'd like, so I prefer to watch in 2D without them on. As channels are added with 3D, I may change my mind. The "kids" (adult kids) like messing with that stuff.
There is something about the picture...it's so High Def, so "real", that for a while everything looked like a soap opera. It's hard to describe what I'm trying to say. Everything seemed to have that "soap opera feel" to it, some stuff was kind of uncomfortable to watch for some reason. We got over it, I guess, because we don't notice it anymore...but visitors mention how "real" things look and I think they are noticing the same thing we used to see.
Very happy with decision to buy this from Amazon. Unit arrived exactly when it was supposed, to. The delivery guys called in advance, and were very polite. If I wasn't going to wall-mount it, they would have taken it out of the box and set it up for me. I bought the 4 year Square Trade warranty from Amazon, too...repairing this thing only once would have to cost WAY more than the price of the warranty!
Very satisfied, very happy customer.
*** P.S. If you will buy this TV I suggest you have compare price before you decide at: www.amazon.com/gp/*************?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%****%2Foffer-listing%2FB0036WT4JW%3Fie%3DUTF8%26ref_%3Ddp_olp_new_map%26qid%3D1300663438%26sr%3D1-1%26condition%3Dnew&tag=***************&********=ur2&camp=1789&creative=39095727 out of 27 users found this user opinion helpful.

Very good HD picture, but had motion judder problem
by mkirgan11 on March 25, 2010
Pros: Very good HD Picture, plenty of HDMI ports, 3D works
Cons: On some HD channels there is motion judder every few seconds. My previous $600 tv did not have this problem, so to me it is simple not acceptable in a $3000 tv. I almost gave it a 2 rating because of this problem - without it, I would rate it a 4.
Summary: The HD quality was really good. Puts my previous HD TV to shame in this area. In fact with my old TV, I never could figure out what the big ...
Summary: The HD quality was really good. Puts my previous HD TV to shame in this area. In fact with my old TV, I never could figure out what the big deal was about HDTV. But when I got this unit it look so real you would think you were watching something outside of your window, instead of a TV or movie. At first it was even distracting, because I wasn't used to seeing this quality of a picture and I kept focusing on the quality, instead of watching the movie.
Really good news: I kept trying figure out if there was a way to fix the motion judder. It turns out the problem was caused by a Samsung option called Auto Motion Plus that is turned on by default. Tweaking the Auto Motion Plus settings will not solve the judder problem - only reduce it. But if you turn it off completely, the problem goes away!!! I have no idea why Samsung would even put in such a feature if it would cause judder. Who would want to watch HD channels that have pictures that jump all over the place.
3D did work and at times it looks real good. However sometimes (like when someone runs) it seems to loose some detail and even looks a little transparent at times. Where on a Panasonic Plasma with 3D, the characters looked solid all of the time. I only got to see Monsters vs Aliens on this tv in 3D so far, but my first impression is that is just average 3D. I don't know if all Plasma based 3D will be better at this point or if it was just that Panasonic did a better job in general with their 3D implementation.
Sound was just average, but I don't care. I run my sound through a receiver and surround sound speakers anyway.
I didn't notice any motion judder with Blu Ray, but I do on some of the HD channels I get through Comcast. I don't know why it is not on every HD channel. I tried a variety of video processing settings to get rid of it. I was able to reduce the judder somewhat, but it is still there. I find it very difficult to enjoy watching shows on the channels where motion judder is happening - it is just to distracting. Having an amazing HD picture does not compensate for motion judder issue for me. I am thinking about returning the TV for this reason. No $3000 TV should have judder problems - especially when my $600 Sony HDTV does not.
Updated on Mar 26, 2010
Anyway, now that I have solved the judder problem by turning off Auto Motion Plus - I would change my review to have the overall rating as a 4 and the picture a 4.5. And now I would recommend it to others.

Absolutely love it
by wyrock01 on March 23, 2010
Pros: Excellent picture. Great contrast. 3D just in case it's popular in a few years
Cons: some flashlighting if you have don't back off the backlight
no 3d glasses, not enough 3D content out there to buy 3D glassesSummary: i recently bought this set (about 2 weeks ago) and I'm absolutely loving it. It has an awesome picture and plenty of features (though I haven't gotten around ...
Summary: i recently bought this set (about 2 weeks ago) and I'm absolutely loving it. It has an awesome picture and plenty of features (though I haven't gotten around to using them all yet).
This thing seems to have great shadow detail and the blacks look great to my untrained eye, but you'll need to lower the backlight first (and it main depend on your source). My HD channels over cable look fantastic and games look great. I was worried about not having a matt finish in my bright living room, but the picture is usually bright enough to combat that. Just don't watching something like Dark Knight around noon and you'll probably be fine (which probably wouldn't look all that great on a matt finish either)
I mention negatives only because they are easier to describe that the positives :) It does have some flashlighting in the corners that you'll notice if you use the default backlight settings. The auto-motion flow seems to stutter a bit with when watching cable channels, but seems to work fine with DVD input (though maybe this is more related to input source than the TV, not sure).
All-in-all. I'm extremely happy with this purchase!3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: This is a great HDTV. The set simply hangs on the wall like a picture frame. I purchased a UN55C6500 and experienced allot of blooming or flashlighting. I returned the UN55C6500 and ordered the UN55C7000. I have very minimal blooming on the 7000, but is is hardly noticable. All edge lit LED's will have some blookming. There are so many positives about this this HDTV. The UN55C7000 is a big upgrade from the 6500. The performance and PQ is much better and the styling is in a different league. I have not utilized the 3D capabilities yet, but for $75 more than the 6500.....it is well worth it.

I've never seen anything like it!!
by KPM171 on November 30, 2010
Pros: Insane level of clarity, 1.0" thick, beautiful TV, nice remote control now dubbed the "Silver Surfer"
Cons: Sound could be better, not a learning remote, Wireless Linkstick should be included at this price point

Summary: I picked up the Samsung 7000 series LED 3d TV & I love it!! I'm a gadget freak and I have never seen a TV with this level of clarity. I honestly feel like I'm discovering all of my shows all over again. It has some cool web enabled features (haven't played too much with the Samsung apps yet), and yes it's 3d which is nice. But, I'm really excited about the day to day HD shows that I watch on FiOS, the movies I stream using Netflix, and gaming on my PS3. I'm absolutely blown away by the clarity of the images!! The opening cut scene on Final Fantasy XIII (Yeah, I'm a nerd) is gorgeous on this TV!
Since it IS a 3d TV, I went ahead and picked up a 3d Bluray player and 3d starter kit (4 3d movies & 2 pairs of glasses). I couldn't have all this 3d goodness and not use it, right? The 3d is cool and as if that wasn't enough, it's compatible for 3d gaming too. I cannot wait to see GT5 in 3d. Did I mention that the TV was a whopping 1.0 inches thick?? B/c it is! So thin in fact, that it has to have adapters (included) to run all non HDMI cabling. I'm using the stand, but I can only imagine how lovely it would look wall mounted. Samsung sells an ultra slim wall mounting kit.
My only complaint(s), I wish the remote was a learning remote for all of my devices. I would rather use it to control my FiOS DVR instead of the clunky remote Verizon gives you. Perhaps that's an option on a higher up model? The sound is ok, I'd recommend hooking it up to a stereo for gaming and movies, but day to day sound is just fine. One huge draw back... All other TV's will look very boring very quickly. Hell, I'm honestly worried about going to the theater at this point since I don't think the clarity will beat that of this TV. None of these issues would stop me from buying it all over again. I'm very happy with this set.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Finally a TV that brings you into the next generation!
by kduke004 on August 21, 2010
Pros: Crisp HD display with great quality in HD mode. If you get the HD 3D Blu-Ray DVD Player it becomes an unbelivable combination that you will look at other screens and think....wow look at the SD unit.
Cons: The auto eco system will dim the backlight too much and make the set look dark.

Summary: Summary - If you turn off the eco function, be smart and plug your set into the internet and do software upgrades before really getting into watching the set, then you will have a great unit. I have seen too many people complain that the set may have the jitters, however they are not smart enough to upgrade the TV's firmware/software which fixes this issue. I think Samsung has a great product with the 7000.

Comletely Satisfied
by JohnnyBeeee on July 2, 2010
Pros: Great 2D picture, sound much better than expected. 3D OK (bit of ghosting) and maybe future firmware updates will get it better. Slim and to be mounted with Samsung slim mount.
Cons: Not any really but would have been nice to have wireless built in as the bluray 6900 already does.
Summary: It seems more people who are disappointed write reviews and those who are not. I AM PERFECTLY HAPPY WITH MY C7000. Hope set lasts a long time.
I read C8000 ...Summary: It seems more people who are disappointed write reviews and those who are not. I AM PERFECTLY HAPPY WITH MY C7000. Hope set lasts a long time.
I read C8000 CNET reviews and agree with "No Buyers Remorse". Seems C7000 and C8000 are same except for 1 dimming feature and edge bezel. I am completely satisfied with my C7000. TV picture looks like you are next to camera man filming - takes a bit getting used to - OK - already used to it and love it. 2D on its own give a 3D feeling to it.
Easy set up. Got the Blu-ray 6900 3D and like it with this tv. Bluray remote wotks for both including volume etc.
I plan to mount on wall with 1000B kit soon. Its 1 inch thickness and 1/2 inch projections will make it look like a picture ias hung. The sound is much better than expected - I like it in Movie mode - it spreads the sound somewhat. I do not plan on using a reciever and all the gazillion speakers/wires. Downstairs I have a full blown movie theater HD TV projector system with receiver/spreakers/many sources etc. downstairs. Upstairs with the C7000 is the TV slim mounted on wall and trying to figure out how to hide all cables and the 2 (cable box and Blu ray) sources - the happy wife clean look. So sound is pretty good and no need for soundbar etc.
Picture quality is great BUT you should go through the 30 or so possible settings. I like it in standard or natural mode - not dynamic as its too bright/saturated. It would be nice to get recommended calibrated settings somewhere so I can tweak it to make it perfect -but its already close with my layman settings. I upgraded to firmware 1021 (had 1012 on set when received). NOte you lose all your custom settings so obce you got the tweaking done - mark it down for future reference. Also not sure what firmware updated - would be nice to know when you do the upgrade.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

BEWARE BUYER. EDGE LIT LED LCDS ARE FAILURES.

Buyers, do not even consider the new ?edge-lit led? technology. There is a major reason why all retailers are overstocked on these LCDS. Apparently, many consumers are reporting bright corner backlight bleeding, clouding and flashlight effects during viewing of 16 x 9 letterbox movies especially during dark/night scenes. To test this, watch a letterbox movie and turn the backlight to max and see the corners. Also, the TVs using LED backlight are not as bright (lumens) as the CCF-Bulb backlit LCDs.
If you do your research right, you will see most people are currently buying plasmas with 600HZ refresh rate and .001ms response time with 7,000,000:1 contrast ratio (Samsung pn58c8000). Plasma HDTVs have been around for a while and they have improved it a lot, especially the burn-in disadvantage corrected by pixel rotation. If you really want TRUE LED technology then get a FULL-ARRAY LED BACKLIGHT LCD PANEL which cost much more.
Note on Samsung: I have contacted Samsung many times and they acknowledge that this is a problem with ALL edge-lit LED LCD panels. Even Sony uses Samsung LCD panels.
I own Samsung 52? 240HZ CCF-Bulb backlit LCD (ln52b750) and Samsung 55? 240HZ Edge-lit LED 3DTV (un55c7000). I am a computer technician by profession.2 out of 4 users found this user opinion helpful.
