  Summary: Think twice about buying this particular Sharp Product. Although it makes an excellent display, the sound quality is very poor. This particular TV is known for having sound issues according to Sharp and less attractive is it technical support. Not only are they rude, you have to waste an entire day to wait for them to come to your house to check out the tv just to tell you that you have to send it back to where you purchased it. So in another words, they knew they sent you a lemon and can't tell you whether or not you'll receive an orange once you exchanged it. So take it back and get a better product instead.

  By the way, if you have a surround sound system, then the sound issue of the TV is not as important. The sound issue of this TV is that the sound doesn't get louder past level 25. So from level 25 to 60, the sound level remains the same.

  Summary: I purchaced this TV because I became tired of not being able to view my 52 in. RCA rear pro TV because of window glare. I stayed up all night and was able to buy it for 1000$ during black friday. I dont think I would pay much more for this TV. The standard def is worse then my 2004 RCA. I would only buy this TV if you can get it for a great price AND you are planning to hook it up to a HD device, sat. or cable box. If you do not hook this up to a HD device DO NOT BUY. There are plenty of other better TV's out there for standard def viewing. I have heard complaints about the volume on this TV but I dont have any. I rarley bring the volume past the mid 20's though. With a cable box this TV really looks good, not great, but really pretty good. If you can afford to hold off and get a 1080I at this size I would do that. My parents have the 42 in. 1080I Sharp from costco and it looks better then this tv when in standard def and HD so maybe even go that direction if the price is right. I am pleased with my purchase because of the price paid but I would recommend going another direction unless getting a great deal.

  Summary: I have never owned a tv that cost more than $299.00 but my wife and i decided to go for a high def and because of a costco sale we picked this one up at a price of $1500.00 plus almost $200.00 for tax and shipping. Still quite a few hundred less than other top brands of this size. It does everything we wanted it to do, OTA hi def channels, huge computer monitor, great picture quality with all uses including dvd. The tv looks great even when it is off and learning the menu was very quick and easy.
  The speakers sound great but are the one flaw as they do not get as loud as they should but I have a seperate center channel and subwoofer system that takes care of the problem.
  So if you take care of the sound problem it is a great display for any purpose.
