Great TV for Gaming!
by Call-Me-Jeffrey on September 11, 2011
Pros: + Picture quality is great
+ Speakers quality is the best I've heard out of flat panel TVs
+ Dual band wireless N
+ Nice Netflix UI, better than the xbox IMOCons: - Remote is a bit direction sensitive

Summary: I play a lot of online multiplayer games that require fast reflexes such as Tekken 6, Super Street Fighter 4 and Killzone 3, so game input lag is a huge deal for me. It can make or break any gamer. I was tempted to buy Samsung D8000 55-inch until I found that it has game lag of 66ms or 4 full frames/second. Simply unacceptable!
Edit Link
So on to this TV:
When gaming, make sure to change the AV Mode to "GAME" for optimal no-lag experience! Now, the "GAME" mode is not the prettiest one, but I managed to calibrate it so well that it looks even better than the best mode "Dynamic (FIXED)". I pulled some chained combos on SSF4 and Tekken 6 and they came out perfect without noticeable lag!
The TV's overall picture quality is great, but not as good as Samsung D8000. If you spend some fine-tuning on the display calibration, though, it can come pretty close :)
BTW, the TV MUST be calibrated out-of-the-box. Don't be surprised when the picture doesn't look as good as you thought it should when you first got it. That's just the default factory setting.
Its speakers quality is the best I've heard out of flat panel TVs in a long time. The woofer really adds the "umph" in bass department, especially during gunfight scenes.
It's also one of the greenest TV out there. With advanced mode, you can tone down the watt-consumption down to 97 Watts. It's pretty neat for my electric bill. But note that if you calibrate the TV that makes it require more brightness, the Wattage will go up. But that's pretty much the norm of all TVs out there.
The movie looks great. Played some footage of OceanEleven and it looks so vivid and clear. Make sure to turn off the smooth-film mode to restore it back to 24frames/second. Yeah, I'm not into that "soap-opera" look that new TVs are promoting these days.
Haven't use the 3D feature yet. I don't have the glasses yet (it's not included with the TV).
The apps are okay but I don't use them as much except Netflix. It's really sluggish to browse around Netflix, but once it streams the movie it's very smooth without pause or interruption. Note that it also depends on your internet connection and how you connect to it. My internet is adequate speed and I connect it straight via ethernet cable. I haven't tried it via WiFi yet, so I couldn't tell.
However, PS3 streams Netflix better than this TV. It has somewhat better color and hue along with less artifacts during fast-motion scenes.
If you're a gamer, I highly recommend this TV. For 60-inch 3D TV, it's the best bang for the buck!
P.S. I have posted my review in other site too, if you see it don't be surprise and if you will buy this TV I suggest you have compare prices before you decide at: www.amazon.com/exec/******/****/B004NOXMJK/cnet-offer-20

Great value in this category. The picture is fantastic.
by petestelnyk on July 6, 2012
Pros: Vibrant, dynamic and accurate colors.
Great picture quality, almost surreal feeling of figures being in the room with you.
Lots of HDMI inputs, ability to micro-adjust picture along several dimensions.
Great value for the price in this category.Cons: Not best UI (user interface) for external services and low number of icons (NetFlix, Hulu, etc.), although I have not investigated ability to add new ones.
Bezel and design adequate though not as elegant as others in category.Summary: Have barely used 3D option. Feel like this is a requirement of entry into this category of large, LCD/LED sets, though I did get 2 sets of 3D glasses ...
Summary: Have barely used 3D option. Feel like this is a requirement of entry into this category of large, LCD/LED sets, though I did get 2 sets of 3D glasses included and purchased at HH Gregg for just over $2K. Did not find base to be unstable, just the opposite.
I found experimenting with picture settings as follows:
increase sharpness to max and bumping contrast by +3, while keeping brightness, color and tint adjustments neutral, provided most accurate and "true" picture. The real adjustment to play with is backlight, which lightens or darkens colors and overall light level of picture the most noticably. I set mine on +3, but you can experiment based upon amount of ambient room light and any glare.
Set is also very power saving and is Energy Star rated for you greenies out there.
Make sure you get a good cable or fios type service and use the HD version of all channels. Can't get the most our of this one unless the feed is optimal. Same with HDMI cables, buy the good ones. few bucks more but make the difference on BluRay and inputs. Lastly, get an external speaker or bar sound system. Got one for $250 and the subwoofer is key to delivering the total movie and game experience.
People just walk in the room to watch a game or movie and go "wow" and then are entranced by the picture. -
Great TV for the money

Summary: 1st one had severe flashlighing (bright washed out area of the screen during dark scenes) Returned it and the second is much better but still noticable. Overall, I'm happy with the image. My previous set was a samsung 56" DLP. And while the image quality was excellent, the brightness of this sharp blows it away. Color and 3D are quite good, with enough adjustments to suit your individual taste.
Do youself a favor, search reviews/forums before you buy any brand of TV. Every brand has there strengths and weaknesses. LED TV's haven't been prefected yet and flashlighting happens alot. Alot of people may not notice it, but it happens. Turn off the lights and watch a movie with dark scenes. Or watch the screen when its black with no image, you will see brighter spots in various locations. In any case, if a salesman tells you he dosent't know what this is, get another salesman.
Anyway, I knew this when I bought this TV so I knew what I was in for and I'm still happy with the purchase, especially the deal I got which was less than 1700. I would recommend it to a friend as long as I disclosed the pro's and con's to them.
Oh, and as far as sound quality, if you're buying a 60" TV and you don't have a surround sound system, you're missing the point. (that's like eating your favorite food with 25% of the flavor missing. How much sound quality do you think you're gonna get from a 1"+ screen depth? Do you see many home speakers that thin? There's a reason for that. So if you're investing in a large tv to imerse yourself with the picture, buy a surround sound system to complete the package. Don't complain about sound coming from a 1" thick TV. -
Power house performer with excellent 3D capabilities
by lrw13 on September 11, 2011
Pros: Big bright screen with crystal clear picture with colors that jump out at you. 3D movies look and feel like your at the movies. Easy set up and if your not tech savvy, sharp has the ability to access your TV via the Internet ( TV needs to be connected to
Cons: For some people the lack of apps might be a negative, but for me I have my Xbox 360, Sony 3D Blu Ray Internet connected DVD player, and apple TV, so there are plenty of ways for me to get apps.

Summary: As I said in my pros this TV packs a lot of features and quality in such a thin design. The 3D performance is second to none weather its a 3D Blu Ray disc or a program in 3D from Directv the picture quality is excellent and the 3D show like it should. I originally purchased the LC-60LE633U to replace a Samsung HL-R6167WX/XAA DLP 60" 720p 60Hz refresh rate that finally went out after sinking into it over a $1000 over the 5 years I owned it. I was completely satisfied with that purchased of the 633 model until I saw the price drop on the LC-60LE835U which had the Quattron and 3D feature. I returned the other sharp and purchased the 835 model. I'm glad I did because the whole family love to watch 3D movies on movie night. Plus from the store I purchased it from it came with 2 pairs of active 3D glasses, so I only had to purchase 2 more pairs for only $150 more. I could go into all the specs on this TV, but I would rather write about my experience with the TV.

Amazing 60 inch 3D LED LCD Television - Sharp Rocks!

Pros: 60 Inch TV is huge
LED LCD is very bright with many viewing modes
240Hz is like watching the movie with the actors sitting right next to you
3D is flawless
Colors popCons: The base of the television is large and can be awkward when trying to fit in a cabinet

Summary: I just switched from a 61 inch DLP television. Wow! What a difference. Sharp really has hit the mark with their ability to add an increase in color, clarity, and features. The 60 in Sharp comes standard with 2D to 3D conversion, which is extremely clear. There is not any issue with the increase in black levels when using the included active 3D glasses (two pairs). I purchased the set with glasses for 1888.00, a fair price in today's market. I love the simplicity of being able to update the apps and on-board software with the included WiFi. The apps are plenty, with the ability for Sharp to add new ones in the future. There are also many modes you can watch the television in such as sports, dynamic, movie, etc. which all have a profound effect on the picture. I prefer dynamic, as it really makes the picture pop. The speed of using this television also is great, as past televisions had a lot of lag time turning on and off, as well as switching between functions and channels. This television is very fast. While the screen is reflective with bright lights (such as with a window open) I have heavy shades I draw shut when we watch movies and this solves the problem. I think it is a fair trade off to close the blinds to achieve the strong clarity of picture. You will really love this television for all of its picture quality and features. It is a solid buy for me. Enjoy.

Grey shadows on corners viewing hockey games & clouding
by DRH69 on May 27, 2011
Pros: The colors are awesome.
Matte finish is perfect for bright room, very little reflection.Cons: Grey shadows appear in corners while viewing displays such as hockey games. Uneven white displays, grey shadows are visible on corners at all times. Very cumbersome image settings, almost have to adjust for each channel change, not impressed.
Summary: Not impressed with LED technology, Sharp has not done a good enough job, bad white clouding, spotty blacks, image noise resulting in horizontal lines on top and bottom of screen. ...

LED makes people on TV look "chiseled" like they're carved out of clay, will go with a plasma instead. -

Summary: LAST YEARS SHARP LEDS WERE VERY POPULAR DUE TO THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE QUATTRON PIXEL. THEY EXPERIENCED HIGH SALES VOLUME AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DESPITE LACKING IMPORTANT FEATURES SUCH AS THE 240 HZ, 3D AND INCLUDED WIFI ADAPTER. THIS YEAR SHARP RETURNS WITH THE IMPRESSIVELY BRIGHT GENX PANEL AND THE RICH COLOR OF QUATTRON, BUT NOW WITH ALL THAT WAS MISSING FROM LAST YEARS LC60LE820UN.
MOTION IS VERY SMOOTH. COLOR IS EXCELLENT. WHILE SOME SCENES/SUBJECTS ARE A BIT OVERSATURATED WITH YELLOW AT TIMES, EPERIMENTING WITH THE VARIOUS VIDEO PRESETS SHOULD PROVIDE A PLEASING COLOR PALATTE FOR ANY USER.
INTERNET FEATURES ARE A BIT LIMITED WITHOUT WEB BROWSING, BUT INCLUDE THE POPULAR NETFLIX AND VUDU. WIFI ADAPTER IS INCLUDED.
3D PERFORMANCE IS COMPRABLE TO SONY AND SAMSUNG WITH A SIMILARLY INEFFECTIVE 2D-3D CONVERSION. SET HAS BEEN REDESIGNED WITH A SLIMMER BLACK BEZEL. TV IS AROUND AN INCH DEEP WITHOUT THE PROTECTIVE PLEXI SHIELD FROM LAST YEARS 820'S.
OVERALL, IF YOU DONT CARE ABOUT WEB BROWSING OR PASSIVE GLASSES THIS IS PROBABLY GONNA BE THE BEST 60 FOR 2011.
