Spectacular picture, beautiful true color.

Summary: I've had this set for two weeks now and I'm just amazed at how beautiful the picture is. I waited for this new model over the previous 62u model because of the banding issues. Looks like Sharp solved the problem. You're going to love this set. Glad I waited.

Sharp Warranty warning
by dvippond123 on July 3, 2007
Pros: Great TVs when they work
Cons: Sharp Warranty takes 7+ week to repair/ replace

Sharp USA still has our TV LC32-41U in warranty repair after 6 weeks and we have no fixed date for its replacement (promised by Sharp as they couldn?t affect repairs within 3 weeks).
I recommend you call Sharps Customer Service daily. We got its standard answers ?we don?t give exact dates, it takes up to 10 days for the agent to fix it, and then they will contact you?, to post 10 days ?sorry, the agent needs another part? then finally 2-3 weeks later ?the new TV takes 10 days to reach our agents who will contact you?.
Watch the last one. They told us it shipped, but the Agent never got it. Sharp then told us it was never sent due to the universal ?we had a computer problem?. My answer to Sharp Management, get your own industrial consulting & computing teams to propose upgrades to your computer systems they obviously need it or be honest.
Apologies for the rant, however I hope you understand the frustration & you need to be aware of this when considering these TVs. In defence of the Sharp CS staff, they appear to follow management rules, so this is a management and service policy issue.4 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Banding Issues!
by rfors2 on June 16, 2007

Summary: The LC-46D92U would have been a 10 in my opinion if it was not for the horizontal and vertical lines (banding) that are visible in certain scenes. Pic was awesome 90% of the time but the other 10% had banding.
I talked to Sharps customer service line several times and also 2 reps that happended to be in BB where I bought it. All of them feigned ignorance of the banding issue.
I tried 2 different units until I decided to get a refund.
If Sharp corrects this problem in future sets and I haven't bought another brand already then I will consider trying the D92 again. That is how much I liked this model minus the banding.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Outstanding picture quality

Pros: High def picture at it's best, fantastic styling, lots of connection options
Cons: No pic in pic, stand doesn't swivel (personal preference)

Summary: We considered this Sharp, the 62U Sharp, the Samsung LN-S4695D, and the Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR3. We decided upon this one for the following reasons: This 92U Sharp had the most vibrant picture (blackest blacks), it also had the fastest response time and the 120Hz refresh rate for the fast sports, action and gaming picture requirements we will be using this TV for. Also (and I know this may be a little bias) the "Made in Japan" tag also helped as I have always had very good experiences from "Made in Japan" products from my Honda to even some of our old electronics which after years of abuse still work good as new. We have looked and haven't noticed the reported banding issues on some reviews, nor have any of the buzzing sound issues occurred either. We are using HDMI cables for the cable/PVR, and DVD player, as well as DVI for the PC connected to it. For anyone it is a tough decision as it is hard to go wrong with either Samsung or Sony as well - but with this Sharp we are very pleased.

Significantly better than its Predecessor, the D62

Summary: I purchased this set after comparing it side by side for 30 minutes with the 46" D62 series Sharp LCD at a NYC store. The D92 series set certainly had stronger greens, smoother action and greater detail in dark scenes. I also liked the fact there was a dedicated DVI port, so I did not need to tie up an HDMI port. Plus, while this was never a big problem in my opinion, the D92 did not slow the slight banding problem that could be seen a little on the D62 set, when there was a light color background and the camera was panning left or right.
The D62 line of Sharps are PAL and NTSC compatible, and also accept 110-240 voltage. The D92 line however, while also be PAL and NTSC compatible, will need a transformer to run 220-240V. I might move to England in a few years, so this lack of dual voltage compatibility is a disadvantage over the D62 series.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Awesome LCD

Pros: Deep Rich Color
Cons: Horizontal Ban noticable on some blank screens depending on color. Not noticable at all during normal viewing though.

Summary: Bought it this past weekend from BB, only have a Standard Def Directv DVR and a over-the-Air HD Antenna hooked up to it now. Will have a HD Directv DVR hooked up in March. But the HD through the Over-the-Air Antenna was amazing. So far so good.

Summary: This television is what Pioneer and Yamaha is to audio. Accuracy!! It recreates accurate picture and coloring. None of the crap Sony tries to pass off by showing us WAY to much red and making us view what they think we want to see. If you want amazingly realistic coloring and crisp picture, buy this television. I have seen 4 different models of this LCD including my own, I have NEVER seen any banding issues that would interfere with the picture.

GO WITH YOUR GUT....GET THE SHARP!!!!
by jgrippi on October 24, 2007
Pros: The picture is crazy!! Great depth, awesome black levels, 120 refresh rate, FULL 1080P priced fairly, easy to setup picture.
Cons: There is no remote code for my Comcast box, no picture 'n' picture or side-by-side.

Summary: The Sharp Aquos 46d92u has to be the best LCD TV in it's class. I did a lot of homework before I actually bought theis TV. At first I was all over the Sony Bravia XBR, BUT was convinced this was the TV to get when put side-by-side to the XBR. The basic difference is the price. Save yourself $500-$800 with this TV. The picture is absolutley outstanding, NO COMPLAINTS...The picture settings out of the box of course are over saturated but with a few adjustments is awesome!! The reason for the demerits on the score is that the manual does not have a remote code for my HD cable box, but I am getting a universal remote anyways so no biggie...Also no picture 'n' picture or side-by-side.
Ok I bought this from Video Only, which is always willing to make your experience a great one. The took a couple hundred off the price so I got it for $2500. I originally wanted this TV, but when I got to Video Only the said that the Toshiba 46LX177 was just as good, so I bought that to save some money and they sold that for $2100. Well i took it home and it was so difficult to figure out the settings and the picture just wasn't as good...so I returned it two days later to get this one...My advice, go with your gut and get the SHARP!!!1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I've had this tv now since April of '07. I must admit that I'm now watching much more tv than before. I have this hooked up to directv HD. It's addictive. The colors are wonderful, the blacks are great. There are always going to be videophiles who will nit pick, but each high end tv has its drawbacks which you can clearly see when you look at them side by side. The important thing for me was to see sports without motion artifact and to get a cinematic movie experience. I've achieved both and more. Every HD channel is brilliant. I have not noticed any banding...and I've looked. I'm not going to put up special gray screens to look for banding because I could care less about "banding" if I can't see it...and again, I've looked very hard as has my wife. You need to trust your eyes..this tv is spectacular!
The speaker the tv comes with is a bit stinky, but I really don't care, I just wanted to watch brilliant tv...and that's what this is...brilliant. Again, unless you're a psycho nit picker, you'll be ecstatic at this purchase....1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: The most connectivity of any TV, great picture, easy to use.
Cons: Speakers lack a little but you'll want to put a surround sound on this baby anyway.
