The good: Accurate color in bright areas; uniform backlight; matte screen works well in bright lighting; handles 1080p/24 sources properly; solid picture adjustment options; nice design with hidden speakers.
The bad: Dark areas tinged somewhat blue; lighter black levels; no USB media option.
The bottom line: Although a few bucks more than off-brand entry-level LCDs, Sony's KDL-BX300 series is still a great value.

Completely Satisfied!
by DarenSherwood on February 18, 2011
Pros: + Picture is great with HDMI
+ Sound isn't too bad
+ Easy Setup
+ Lightweight
+ StylishCons: when I connected a DVD player with composite video cables (red/white/yellow), and played a DVD, there were alternating horizontal stripes of discoloration on the screen. These stripes appeared on some DVDs, but not all.

Summary: As a TV for the bedroom, I have been completely satisfied with this TV. Compared to others in its price range the size and weight are less. The style is better. The picture is great with HDMI. I have found the contrast ratio is great as well-- so bright whites!
I've also found that it cleans up bad interference on the analog channels on my cable that are rebroadcast in digital where my other TV's show the interference this one does not.
Setup was easy and use is very easy.
It is feature & input rich, a great picture-- I couldn't be any more satisfied with this TV. Very glad I chose it.

Sync is not what I was hoping it would be

Pros: Great picture, low price, lots of connections

Summary: My review is basically about Sync since it is the one and only reason I bought a Sony system. I'd sworn off Sony after their rootkit debacle but was won back because I thought Sync would be a great system.
I hate having multiple remotes for one system so I was impressed by the promises of Sync. So I bought this TV, their blu-ray player and their receiver. Let me just say that I could not ask for better pieces of hardware for any of the above (although I will be upgrading to 3D TV shortly since the player and receiver are ready.)
The idea of Sync is that if you buy all Bravia Sync hardware, you can easily operate all with 1 remote. All of the remotes are similar and have similar buttons. Many of the features do operate from 1 remote. For example, I just discovered that if you press the blue HOME button on the blu-ray remote, it'll turn everything on. If you press the TV button on the receiver remote, it'll turn everything off. If you press the SAT/CATV button on the receiver remote it'll set up satellite but once you're there, pressing the BD/DVD button doesn't set up the blu-ray player. The blu-ray volume controls the TV volume even though I use the receiver for audio exclusively. There may be a way to map this, but Sony isn't going to tell me how (their manuals just assume that everything is working how they advertise.) If I were in charge of the Bravia system, all remotes would look exactly the same and all remotes would control all Sync components entirely.
My next TV will not be a Sony. I have a Logitech remote on its way to do what the Sync system was advertised to do.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I've owned this TV from new about 2 years now. It was a good deal at the time, but looking back I'd rather of spent my money on something that doesn't require the same old firmware to be re-installed to keep it working properly. Ironically, this problem started 1 year to the day I bought it.

Summary: I bought this TV in November 2010 and after 6 months lines began to flash across the top. It was still under warranty so Sony sent me a refurbished TV. Then 8 months went by and the exact same problem started again but now my whole screen is flashing randomly. I called Sony and they refused to repair the TV because I was out of the 1 year warranty. Sony should take care of this because its the same problem I had before. I have 1 LG flat and 1 Insignia flat and they both have been running smooth for 3-5yrs.

After 2.5 years, I have to throw it away!
by phoenixnicki on July 9, 2011
Pros: Great picture while it lasted. Found another tv like mine with same problem on youtube.
Cons: Not worth to buy a Sony if they only live 2.5 years. My old Sonys lived forever! Why this one had such a short lifespan I cannot imagine, but I am switching to Vizio. hopefully it lasts longer
Summary: A throw away after a few years.

Used with the Sony up-converting BDP N460 dvd player and STR-DG600 receiver its a great little set-up for our bedroom. My first Sony was the huge 300 pound Wega flat screen which was outstanding for it's time.
This is my 2nd Sony LCD and i would highly recommend any Sony LCD for quality and style.
