The good: The inexpensive Sony KDL-BX420 series evinced good performance for an entry-level non-LED-TV, with deep-enough black levels and accurate color in mid-bright areas. It also, surprisingly for a 60Hz TV, handled 1080p/24 cadence properly, and its matte screen is a boon in bright rooms. Its styling is clean and its remote is among the best in its class.
The bad: The BX420 only has two HDMI inputs when most of its competitors have three or four. Its color was too blue in dark areas and too red in bright areas and its screen showed brighter corners.
The bottom line: If you don't expect the world from the entry-level Sony KDL-BX420 LCD, its picture quality may be a pleasant surprise.
My First HDTV and I'm loving it
Pros: 1. Very clean resolution with Blu-Ray
2. Very clean resolution with XBox 360
3. Decent out of the box sound
4. Decent price for what you get
Cons: Only two HDMI inputs

Summary: My wife and I received this as a present and we're loving it. This is our first HDTV and Blu-Rays look amazing as well as my XBox 360. The only con is that I wish there were at least 2 more HDMI inputs. I have seen thinner tvs but going from our huge tube tv down to 3.5 inches is just fine with me. Overall I would recommend this TV.

Pros: Had a port for computer hook up and extra RCAs.
Picture is great through HDMI. Well, that's when I get the screen to work.
Easy to setup and use.
Assembly is easy.
Stand is sturdy and without lean.
Sony online support is nice.
Cons: Only two HDMI connections (luckily that's all I need for now).
RCA connections provide poor picture.
Manufacturing defect. Picture only displays after slapping the back of the TV. (OLD SCHOOL BABY!) :(
Online support takes you through a long script.

Summary: This TV is only a couple of days old and requires repair. After having used for the first time I have an issue where in order to get the screen to come on after hitting the power, i have to "hit" the back of the TV to get the picture to set. What is this, 1980? Yea, I remember doing that years ago, or after years of use and abuse, but this is sad. It's brand new!It would only be right to update the review with new applicable information. After having spoken with local repair shops, they were all surprised Sony wouldn't offer a new replacement. I re-read the warranty and sure enough it said ...replace with a new or used TV...
The only other option other than repair is to live with hitting the back of the TV or to replace the NEW TV with a "refurbished" TV. This means I either get a manufacturing defective TV repaired or have it switched out, and wait weeks or more, for a replacement TV that ALSO had defects, ***? Why did I pay all this money and be stuck either with a LEMON or with a USED LEMON? Sony should replace the NEW TV with a NEW TV or issue some financial reimbursement, but they will not. What a sham.
It's hard to not feel scammed. How else do you explain paying new TV prices for a defective TV, or be forced to take a used, previously defective TV? Something is very wrong with that. Sony should be bigger than that. I'm very, very unhappy with the whole thing and would not recommend a SONY TV based on my current experience.
As a comparison I bought a 40" Samsung LED as well and have had no issues with the Samsung. So buy something other than SONY unless you're comfortable with the risk... or at least avoid Sony LCD.

So I called back in and re-stated my issue and added in comments from repair shops and read the warranty to the person. We troubleshot the TV again and finally, after using some more of the logic in my review, convinced the Sony rep to replace with a new TV. His reasoning to allow a new TV, because it was still in the first month (after having now been 3+ weeks since purchase, which took a week to process and near a week to receive). Maybe they were hoping I'd eclipse that mark? Hard to do when TV flubs on day 1 after having received.
I will update again once the new replacement TV comes in. Will be another couple weeks.
This is my first HDTV and for the price is amazing!

Pros: Picture Sizes, Display Ratios, Decent Audio, Light Weight, Image Clarity, Connectivity includes all of those Cables you have been collecting over the years. This set is a 1080p upgrade that replaces a 720p Sony 26" which has gone to the office for use as
Cons: All inclusive connectivity makes this model appealing to those who, like me, object to the price gouging found in Cables on the shelf. A plethora of flat panel offerings by Sony and its peers seems to make the idea of "something for everyone" appear to be

Summary: This TV is used with Satellite Feed, using the cheapest service and set top box. In other words, RCA Plugs only. The only other device is a displaced DVD Player from the Liivng Room; where I have finally installed a Blu-Ray Player. I have used an old Yellow, White, and Red RCA to connect to the older DVD Player to the TV "Video 2". If I could afford one, I could change over to an HDMI connection but what we have suits us fine.
