The good: The inexpensive Sony KDL-BX420 series evinced good performance for an entry-level non-LED-TV, with deep-enough black levels and accurate color in mid-bright areas. It also, surprisingly for a 60Hz TV, handled 1080p/24 cadence properly, and its matte screen is a boon in bright rooms. Its styling is clean and its remote is among the best in its class.
The bad: The BX420 only has two HDMI inputs when most of its competitors have three or four. Its color was too blue in dark areas and too red in bright areas and its screen showed brighter corners.
The bottom line: If you don't expect the world from the entry-level Sony KDL-BX420 LCD, its picture quality may be a pleasant surprise.
Pros: Price. Bravia Sync means an automatic single remote for my Sony Blueray, Sony 5.1, and Sony TV, no need for codes. All buttons and menus work with one remote. Blueray has all the extras (Netflix, Hulu, etc) so no need for a full feature TV set.
Cons: Sound is almost non existent. Way too low and no definition at all. I get no bass.
Summary: For the money its a great buy. Dont expect the world. Which if your buying a 46 inch tv and are looking to pay this price, you should already know ...
Summary: For the money its a great buy. Dont expect the world. Which if your buying a 46 inch tv and are looking to pay this price, you should already know this. If not for my Blue ray player, I would have paid an extra 100 - 300 for all the extra internet features. Be it a Sony or other maker and I would not be guaranteed a better picture. After looking at several sets at different stores. I saw little to no difference in the picture quality of screens in this size and price range. Your just not going to get the best quality color and motion in this segment. Because of that I felt that the Bravia sync is what put me over the top to buy this tv. No more hassle when I want to switch between devices or configurations. I would suggest that everyone do the same with there home setup. Buy all one brand and let the systems communicate amongst them selves. I think every manufacturer has something like this at this point. It just makes sense. I wish it were universal so you could mix and match, but you know they will never do that.
