Sony Bravia KDL-46EX720 price range: $1,119.99
- Reviewed by: David Katzmaier

The good: The Sony KDL-EX720 has accurate color in bright areas; handles 1080p/24 content properly; and is extremely energy-efficient. Its automatic turn-off feature saves power and its matte screen reduces glare in brighter rooms. It has solid Internet services, including numerous niche videos and exclusive Qriocity and Gracenote. Lastly, the TV boasts classy, understated styling.
The bad: It reproduces lighter black levels, and its darker areas are tinged blue. The Sony KDL-EX720 cannot customize dejudder processing and has less-even screen uniformity.
The bottom line: The picture quality of Sony's KDL-EX720 shows some flaws but its efficiency, design, and well-stocked feature list will win plenty of converts.

My review on KDL-46EX720
Pros: Vibrant Colors & Picture Quality.
3D was awesome on both the Blu-Ray Movies and PS3 Gaming.
Presence Sensor is very Eco Friendly.
Having Pandora, Netflix & YouTube is always good on TV.
Live Updates to TV.
The i-Manual is very helpful.Cons: TV Speakers is not good.

After purchasing the TV, along with getting the "Sony Alice In Wonderland 3D Starter Kit" (Starter Kit Includes: 2 pairs Sony 3D Active Glasses, Sync IR Transmitter, High Speed HDMI & Movie) and Tron Legacy in 3D.
There will be minor assembly of putting the Table Top Stand onto the TV, but very easy to do.
I notice right away that there was lack of component connections on the back of the unit. But, after connecting my digital cable and PS3; I went ahead tried to connect the IR Transmitter that is included in the "3D Starter Kit" but to my surprise there was not outlet to connect it too. Before I had purchase, the sales rep from Best Buy had told me there wouldn't be a IR Transmitter within the TV unit; so I went ahead and got the "3D Starter Kit", since I still needed the glasses and to have another 3D movie. So now I have a extra part to a 3D piece that I do not need; oh well, I will put it on craigslist or ebay to sell. Moving along, I had a Audio Optical cord to hook up from the TV to the receiver, as the TV speakers are passable but not if you like hearing your TV viewing loudly.
After watching Tron Legacy in 3D; the lighting and colors were vibrant and jumped out at you, along with the sound system that pulled you into the movie. It made me feel like how felt the first time I seen it in the theaters. **I did not see any kind of ghosting whiling watching**
While playing in 3D mode with Killzone 3, Socom 4 & Wipeout HD for the PS3, I really felt immersed into each of the games I played, everything felt good and in placed and I didn't feel any kind of motion sickness during or after playing each one.**I did not see any kind of ghosting whiling playing**
Excluding the poor TV speakers & lack of input/output connections, I am very happy with my 1st purchase of this 3D ready LCD HDTV.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

by delair2 on October 28, 2011
Pros: Nice 2D TV PQ.
Sony design.
Smart TV with all the Sony bells & whistles.
Matte screen is okay.Cons: This is the worst 3D TV on the market.
Should be considered the 3D Ghosting/Crosstalk "Reference"Summary: If you ever want to watch 3D Don't buy this TV. If you are not interested in 3D then save your money and buy another less expensive 2D only ...

This TV lasted 4 months before big black line took over
by temkahn on August 14, 2011
Pros: Looks nice when it worked!
Cons: Lasted only 4 months, tv quit turning on. Red light starts blinking, when you can get tv on black line takes over about 5 inches of screen from top to bottom. This was a replacement tv, Sony tv's kinda suck if you ask me. Sony is paying for repair but, i

Decent TV for the money
by katanaguy on March 24, 2011
Pros: Picture looks okay...nothing that will wow you. The 240 Hz is about time and it does help in fast action viewing. Colors for a matte screen tv seem a little more vibrant than most matte tv screens
Cons: Very much a negative when they went with matte screen. Glossy screens have MUCH MORE COLOR VIVIDNESS. I do not know why the reviewers at cnet continue to encourage matte screens. I have a friend who owns a high end home theatre design and build company an

Summary: I still believe you pay more for a Sony than what you receive. Simply there are better tvs for the same money. I demo'd this tv at my friend's business and I would not buy it, others may really like it because of the name Sony and pricing is not all that out of line for some.

False advertising on refresh rate.
by dxiong5 on March 24, 2011
Pros: Great design and overall picture quality.
Cons: Advertised as 240hz refresh rate; however it is actually only 120hz, according to specifications on the SonyStyle website. Authorized Sony dealers also advertise it as 240hz.
