Sony Bravia KDL-46NX720 price range: $1,299.00 - $3,126.33

The good: The Sony KDL-NX720 series produces deeper black levels than any edge-lit LED-based TV we've tested. It evinces relatively accurate color, has a uniform screen for edge-lit LED, and can properly handle 1080p/24 sources. It has a beautiful, thin-profile exterior design with flush Gorilla Glass, and it has built-in Wi-Fi as well as an Internet suite that includes numerous streaming services and widgets.
The bad: The expensive KDL-NX720 shows some blooming artifacts and crushes detail in shadows, and its image deteriorates more noticeably than usual when seen from off-angle. The design of its menu and Internet services interface is lackluster, and Sony does not include 3D glasses. Its 3D image is poor, with significant crosstalk, flicker when dejudder is turned off, and extreme intolerance to head tilt.
The bottom line: Albeit expensive and plagued by issues in 3D, the beautifully styled Sony KDL-NX720 has better picture quality than most other edge-lit LED-based LCD TVs.

Pros: Picture, looks, decent sound.

Fantastic TV, great picture, decent sound and it just looks awesome with the gorilla glass. If you bought this TV for 3D you are stupid because the 3D on this TV stinks (I HATE 3D even at the theater!). -
Good TV but some MAJOR FAULTS
by SlothfulNomad on June 18, 2012
Pros: Looks great (the design and actual screen function). Mostly works well.
Cons: TV guide will not load until you have manually looked at all channels. Suspected FAULTY AND/OR USELESS GORILLA GLASS. Sony customer support/service was absolutely shocking!

Summary: Was in a toss up between this TV and one from Samsung... This one was considerably more expensive but I had heard good things about Sony Bravias and really liked the design. Salesman told us he had been to a seminar where they threw keys at the TV - screen was more durable than others. We move around a lot so I thought this would be an added bonus.
Literally a week after having the TV (maybe less) I was plugging in a media box when the end on a HDMI port flicked and 'tapped' the screen, marking (cracking) it. We were devastated and called Sony.
Sony informed us (rudely) that there was nothing they could do, and denied ever claiming the screen was more durable than others due to the so-called gorilla glass. We ended up calling the store we bought it from and had a very long debate with the manager about the durability of the screen and the claims the salesman had made about the screen.
Eventually the store agreed to replace the TV for us (thank god!) and to this day we have been very careful about being near and cleaning the screen. Needless to say I will not EVER be dealing with Sony again, they have demonstrated to me that they are only interested in selling their seriously overpriced products, and not providing any support.
When you buy a $2500 TV you expect it to do what it is advertised to do, and customer support to be exceptional.
I would not recommend anyone buy this TV, or anything else Sony for that matter. -

Worst 3D ever seen: No 3D at all!
by 3dMex on November 7, 2011
Pros: Good picture quality but overpriced.
Cons: If you are looking for a 3D TV this is not a wise choice. I returned 1 of this and after checking out 2 other models and a KDL-55NX720 at the sony store I found out they all have a serious problem in terms of 3D.
The 3D effect decreases to almost no 3DSummary: Stay away from this if you are looking for a 3D TV including the series EX72x which have the same problem but less pronounced.

Updated on Nov 7, 2011Summary: Stay away from this if you are looking for a 3D TV including the series EX72x which have the same problem but less pronounced.
Problem is the 3D effect decreases to minimal at the upper side of the screen showing absolute crosstalk. Review wasn't shown complete.

Cons: The only con we found so far may be the slight instability of the stand due to the ability of the tv to swivel both up and down and right to left. If you are wall mounting it, this wont be a problem, but otherwise ou may want to bolt it down to your stand

I'd really rate the Sony Bravia a ZERO star if I could.
by mimiturner on November 1, 2011
Pros: Easy integration with other Sony products.
Cons: Sony products have definitely gone down in quality and reliability. Nobody expects to purchase a television for this price and have it fail within 2.5 years! I ended up having to pay for the service visit and found that the repair to the LCD panel would b
