Great Television.....period!!!
by Yokus on June 5, 2012
Pros: Size (both picture and depth), Picture Quality, "Smart", Netflix button on remote, customization, and Price
Cons: Does not come with 3D glasses???? Otherwise haven't found any...even with the base:)
Summary: I've owned this television for a couple of weeks now and I'm in total love with it! The picture size, 55", is fantastic and if you're thinking ...
Summary: I've owned this television for a couple of weeks now and I'm in total love with it! The picture size, 55", is fantastic and if you're thinking of something bigger remember that the TV in the store will look smaller and that the bigger the television the more you're stretching that 1080p:) I almost bought a 60" Sony and I'm glad that I didn't.
I use the television for PS3 gaming, watching HD Cable, Blue Ray, and yes...3D. Every one of these categories are up to par. 3D takes a little getting used to, and I would agree that there still needs to be some improvements with regard to cross-talk, but for the most part it's absolutely fantastic. I've used 3D for gaming on GT 5 and I refuse to play it any other way; it makes the game worth every cent that I've spent on it. I, along with my family, have watched Tangled in 3D and it's outstanding; as is everything else that I've watched in 3D that comes on the television itself.
I've read many reviews and really haven't had any issues with the base, the picture quality, or the 3d rendering. If you are thinking about purchasing a television of this caliber, I feel confident that I can assure you this is a purchase that you wont regret. Go Buy It!!! If you live near a Sony outlet I just picked mine up for $1599.00 with 36 months of interest free financing; can't beat that!!!! -
I am in love
by mediaphile916 on March 2, 2012
Pros: 240hz lives up to its claims. as full of wireless and multimedia features as any set on the market. unbelievable speed and clarity. mind boggling ergonomics. very aesthetically pleasing menu options integrates what you're viewing with menu options.
Cons: not as adept to warm color temps. menu options are pretty complex. slight glare in certain light. the stand that comes with it isn't the greatest.

Summary: i started out with an LG plasma "50ps60" which was.... ok. nothing special a grainy blu ray picture at best and average broadcast hd. i decided to upgrade to something bigger and better hah. i browsed through various 55" samsung led's and initially concluded they were the standard but i didn't feel like spending $1700. i perused through various best buys and fry's and didn't really find anything that was quite right until one day, i found this set as an "open box" buy resealed at Fry's for, get this, $987. i read its specs and was pretty skeptical of a 55" 240hz (or i think it's actually 480hz) LED Sony set for this price. i looked at the salesman and said "are you sure this is marked right?". i browsed through websites about it with my iphone on the floor, keeping my hand on the box while i did it. if i hadn't it would be gone several people eyed it. i've had it set up for about 2 hours and i can't believe it. whoever returned this set was either a flaming retard or suffering from buyers remorse. blacks are as dark as night and avatar or g.i joe look more like live broadcasts than they do blu ray movies. of course directv or comcast hd isn't quite the same as a blu ray disc, but, i'm watching despicable me on hbo on demmand and it looks more like a blu ray would've looked on my old set. to be honest i think it really is worth 16 or 1700. i didn't pay that and i'm thanking my lucky stars but this brings a new level of hd to my livingroom- i havent worked out the wifi on it yet. i tried a few times and it was a little complicated. but i'm sure once i get it right i'll not only be able to use pandora and netflix, but it'll let me browse the web too even with the remote (yes, that would be very tedious but it's still really cool). now here's the drawback of my review- i'm not really interested in 3d and i have not tested that part because i dont own any 3d blu rays & i dont care. i just want extremely high quality 2d and that i have obtained. i lucked the F#@k out with this set. yes, like the other reviews say, the hidden speakers in it are not very powerful, but, i think most people who own a 55" 240hz led of this caliber already have some more amped up audio options ready to go ;)
another considerable con: this tv is fully capable of web browsing yet is made with a pretty standard non-qwerty remote? tsk tsk

by birdyny on February 16, 2012
Pros: This tv is great for the price the picture quality it is amazing and the 3d is great. Also all the other features this television has will make u happy.
Cons: The sound is good overall but not that strong. I purchased the sony soundbar with the wireless sub now I have a complete entertainment system.
Summary: I spent weeks reading and going into stores just trying to make a good decision lets face it in today society we work to hard to buy junk. Would definitely ...

Very Good Value Large Screen
by tall_dross on January 11, 2012
Pros: picture clarity, ease of set-up and use, reliability of Sony
Cons: I use the stand and it is a little flimsy, but it's my own d&^n fault
Summary: Well-designed, well-built easy to use and especially to hook up. I have used Sony for too many years to bore you. I was upgrading my biggest screen TV which is ...
Summary: Well-designed, well-built easy to use and especially to hook up. I have used Sony for too many years to bore you. I was upgrading my biggest screen TV which is in the Home Theatre during these Super Bowl sales at the big box. 3 years free interest yields $50 a month as I see it and my 20-something daughter gets a great TV. I was replacing a Samsung and fully thought I'd get another, especially since I love my Galaxy Phones with AMOLED. Well, story short: This was the best combination of 52" and over, under $2000 weighing all features.
There is so little 3D now, it really doesn't matter but it seems as good as it needs to be and I don't watch things like Avatar and juvenile death & gore stuff. For my money, animated 3D is the most useful and it looks just fine. 2D superb. -
Best that I could find for the $$
by HOG66 on December 23, 2011
Pros: Picture quality, Wi-Fi, Internet access - all the preloaded Net Flix, etc
Cons: The "Simulated" 3D function is weak.
Summary: I would buy it again tomorrow

pretty impresive
by jackstraw2169 on December 18, 2011
Pros: Great picture when directly in front.
Cons: I've noticed the picture is not quite as good at an angle.
Summary: Took some getting used to after having a older LCD for so long. But after a few days and tweaking the picture/sound here and there, I'm very impressed ...

Very good TV for 2D and/or 3D viewing
by mhtayeh on September 6, 2011
Pros: I thought this TV will have bad sound quality as many other new LED TVs, but was amazed by the sound quality of this TV. Picture quality is amazing ... I have to tell you that I am a very picky guy when it comes to buying electronics (spent many hours res
Cons: I should admit that TV panel is reflective, but it is only noticeable if your are looking for it, trust me when you see the picture quality on that set (specially HD) you won't see what's reflected on the panel ;-)
Summary: Very good TV, if you can find it for a good deal, GO FOR IT :-)

I am not a big fan of 3D TVs, but I tried it on this set and have to admit it is COOL ;-)
2D HD viewing is stunning !
