Sony Bravia KDL-55NX720 price range: $1,799.00

The good: The Sony KDL-NX720 series produces deeper black levels than any edge-lit LED-based TV we've tested. It evinces relatively accurate color, has a uniform screen for edge-lit LED, and can properly handle 1080p/24 sources. It has a beautiful, thin-profile exterior design with flush Gorilla Glass, it has built-in Wi-Fi, and its Internet suite includes numerous streaming services and widgets.
The bad: The expensive KDL-NX720 shows some blooming artifacts and crushes detail in shadows, and its image deteriorates more noticeably than usual when seen from off-angle. The design of its menu and Internet services is lackluster, and Sony does not include 3D glasses. Its 3D image is poor, with significant crosstalk, flicker when dejudder is turned off, and extreme intolerance to head tilt.
The bottom line: Albeit expensive and plagued by 3D image issues, the beautifully styled Sony KDL-NX720 has better picture quality than most other edge-lit LED-based LCD TVs.

Monolithic design is elegant and adds to the style of your room.
Remote is the best out there; the concave design fits the hand perfectly.
SmartCons: None!! I love my TV sooooo much!!! It's 55" if gorgeous!!!

Updated on Jul 10, 2011
Dedicated Netflix and Qriocity buttons for quick access to video content without the need to scroll through menus.
3D conversion works well. It's not as dramatic as native 3D content, but it made 2D PS3 game "Flower" so much more immersive. And the transmitter is now built into the set.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

This TV is a piece of crap! Do not waste your money!
by coco060708 on December 5, 2011
Pros: Big. not anything else
Cons: 3D component was too blurry; the supplied stand made the TV sit crooked; Customer Service SUCKS!

Summary: I bought this TV as a gift for my husband and was promised "Green Glove" service which was supposed to include delivery, setup, and trash haul away. The delivery man brought the TV to my house and said "good luck getting this thing inside your house." (I'm a 100lb girl...the TV weighs 64lbs...you do the math. Finally got the TV in my house and attached the stand with the assistance of my husband EXACTLY as the instructions said. The stand made the TV sit crooked. Next problem....when we plugged in our Sony 3D Bluray player and put in Harry Potter. The 3-D images were so blurry I actually got sick (yes, I was wearing the glasses...and yes, they were powered on). We tried adjusting the 3D settings and unplugging both devices....and using different movies, but we received the same result no matter what we tried. After this I had had it. I called Sony and talked to "Nelson" from somewhere overseas who told me that a polarizing adapter for our glasses would do the trick....***? Really? Figured I would save my breath and call Monday to speak to someone who was fluent in my own language. I was one the phone for a total of 2 & 1/2 hours trying to get ANYONE to do anything. After repeated requests to be transferred to a manager or supervisor I was sent to customer service. They offered to replace the TV (not even have someone come out and look at it), but oh, what's this? The TV is out of stock and the only option now is to return the TV and be refunded my money. I will never buy a Sony product again, nor will I recommend their products to anyone. Please don't waste your time and money on this crappy product.
