The good: The Sony KDL-HX850 delivers excellent picture quality for an LCD, with deep blacks and plenty of detail in shadows. Blooming was minimal, and both uniformity and viewing angle were very good. The Gorilla Glass front adds both toughness and good looks.
The bad: The HX850 is expensive compared with like-performing plasmas, and color tended somewhat toward blue.
The bottom line: The Sony HX850 is a smart-looking Smart TV with sparkling picture quality, making it a front-runner for plasma-phobic videophiles.

This is one of the outstanding HDTV that I seen so far.

Pros: Deep black and image quality is just simply amazing in every way.
Cons: However I notice the sound quality is not that good and needs to be hooked up to home theater system.

AWESOME! One of the best TV's I've ever purchased.

Pros: Outstanding picture. Deep blacks. Absoulute pleasure to watch action scenes and live sporting events with none of that blurring like other TV's. The apps such as Netflix and Twitter are easy to access and nagivate.
Cons: Price is high. Sound is horrible. Needs to be connected to a home theater system to truly appreciate the TV.
No 3-D glasses with purchase. Why can't include a pair of glasses with the purchase. They charge enough for the TV.Summary: Absolutely love the TV. Incredible picture. Colors are outstanding. Excellent deep blacks.

One can be HDMI & one must be another source like a component input or game.
TV has a beautiful look. All black with just a very thin line of chrome around outside edge.
Bought it directly from the Sony store nearby. Was told by the sales rep that he was giving me expedited delivery included in the price and also free installation and set up of all of my components. After 3 days of not hearing from Sony about delivery, called Sony & was told sales rep made an error. TV must be ground shipped & not eligible for expedited delivery. Would be delivered by private delivery company. Took over a week to get TV delivered.
Sony installation was good. Tech appeared on time & mounted TV & hooked up all components and gave demonstration of TV & available apps and how to make adjustments if necessary.
Really with for price Sony charges for TV that they include some glasses with purchase.

Summary: Great TV with great 3D, the only markdown is the poor off angle viewing. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a slim TV, I have compared it to my brother-in-law's ES8000 and the PQ of the HX850 is head and shoulders above the Samsung, but the exterior design of the Samsung is definitely better and it has the gimmicky gesture controls. If the only concern is PQ then the Sony is definitely the best LCD/LED available this year.

Pros: Grate picture quality, my visitor opinions was; Hey this thing look a built or physically a good quality like Apple products; in general, for all the features and aspects, is excellent product.
Cons: The chassis and the structure, apparently to be rigid, but it present a little movement, even it is a monolitic design, I noted at the moment to install in a wall bracket. Maybe other TVs are worse than this one.

Pros: like the cnet review stated it offers great blacks for an led. Let me tell you when i set this tv up my jaw dropped it was gorgeous. Probably the best purchase i've ever made.
Cons: I bought the tv from my local sony store on the june 12 and on june 14, i found a dead pixel on the bottom right corner. How am i to enjoy this tv's excellent black levels, when every time a dark scene in a movie pops up i see an annoying red dot.

Getting a replacment hx850. Will update review once new tv comes in. Like I said before great tv, I was just unlucky with the set I got.
I've been burned by sony again. I bought a ps3 in 07, yellow light of death in 08. Yellow light of death again like a month after the 90 day warranty was up. Jumped ship to the xbox, not one problem, strange but true(still on my first xbox 360. It took me 4 years to buy another sony product. Spent 3000+ dollars on the tv and 3d glassess and etc. And i get a bum product. I will update my review after tech comes in.

Pros: Deep blacks for an LED TV and good picture.
Cons: Dead pixel, gorilla glass streaks easily and hard to clean, TV wobbles on stand when walking by, cheap remote

Summary: Have a dead pixel right in the center of my screen! Called Sony customer service and they said it's normal and not covered under the warranty. Spent $2600 on the 55HX850 and I'm now stuck with an annoying and very distracting black dot during all but black scenes. Would be a great TV without the pixel problem. Bottom line, if you experience any bad pixels, you are on your own and Sony will not help.
Was contacted by the Sony Listens team and Sony has agreed to replace the TV with a new one, same model, at no cost to me. You guy's are awesome! Totally renewed my confidence in Sony. Overall the HX850 is a fantastic TV. It was unfortunate that mine had the pixel problem. I can't wait to get the replacement. I am a happy customer again :)
