WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Good picture, but TV melted.
by gregmcohen on December 4, 2011
Pros: Good picture, easy to use.
Cons: Tv burned up within 9 months of buying it. Toshiba's TERRIBLE customer service. See details below...I'll never buy a Toshiba product again...

Summary: WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER...I will never buy a Toshiba product again. Bought a 55HT1U 55" LCD TV in Jan2011. In Oct (yes, only 9 months after buying it), the TV starting burning. TV repair company came out and saw that the chips for the "balance" (that control the LCD brightness) were melting. They tried to order part, but Toshiba would not authorize it days later. I called Toshiba directly and got a call back in hours saying they'll replace it (suspicious...design flaw?). Turns out they gave me one choice of a replacement - a TV with terrible reviews, a lower MSRP than the one I bought, and one I can't go see anywhere because it's only sold at Costco (and not in stock anywhere). When I called back to see what other options, they said we'll give you 70% of what you paid (a sale price to begin with), but I had to spend it on Toshiba's site. How is that a good deal?!?! They also said I had to decide THAT DAY or I'd get nothing from them. So...you nearly burn down my house with a faulty piece of electronics, then you give me an ultimatum?
Decided (because I really had no other option) to get the replacement TV from them (55S41U LED TV) and within 2 days it's broken. The touchpad is faulty - it randomly changes channels, turns itself on, cranks the volume, etc. Called Best Buy (they agreed to transfer my "Black Tie Protection Plan" to this TV even though they never sold it) who ordered a new touchpad from Toshiba. Here were 3 weeks later and Toshiba still hasn't provided a shipping date to Best Buy for the part. I haven't had a working TV in 2 MONTHS and there's no resolution in sight!!!
I SAY AGAIN, NEVER BUY A TOSHIBA PRODUCT EVER!! -
Great TV for the price!
by Dadoftwogirls on September 2, 2011
Pros: Huge screen. Low cost. Great picture. Light weight compared to my old 42" plasma TV.
Cons: Base seems a little flimsy. Wish refresh rate was 240 vs. 120 especially with sports.
Summary: I got mine for $750 at CompUSA. Hard to beat considering that my 42" model just 5 years ago ran me $1907 at Costco. Picture is good, value is good, ...
Summary: I got mine for $750 at CompUSA. Hard to beat considering that my 42" model just 5 years ago ran me $1907 at Costco. Picture is good, value is good, and it is nice enough not to worry about the minute differences in the "HD" considering other models cost twice as much.

Good value. Large picture size for low price.
by youroy on February 1, 2011
Pros: Great picture size and quality. Reasonable number of connectivity options.
Cons: Poor remote, Poor compatibility with AV receiver. Sync problem when HDMI signal is connected through the AV receiver. Had to run signal using HDMI directly into TV and then connect optical audio out to AV receiver. Not enough picture size octions.

Summary: Good choice for those on a budget. You can buy a better TV, but at a much higher price. With so many changes coming to digital TV's in the near future, it may not be wise to spend a lot of money on an excellent TV now when you may want to upgrade in just a few more years to the then latest technology. Tv's will have wireless internet connectivity, 3D without glasses and much more, not to mention much more improvement to picture quality.

BEAUTIFUL PICTURE - as long as settings are corrected
by chark1111 on January 4, 2011
Pros: Provides all the features you need, and none of the features you don't.
Nice black levels and screen refresh seems to be ample.
Best deal for the money, by far!Cons: Image Stabilization feature renders picture cartoonish and soap opera-esc. TURN THIS FEATURE OFF. The remote is Spartan at best. You need a nice universal remote like the Logitech Harmony One. Did I mention the image stabilization feature is AWFUL?
Summary: This TV is not Internet-connected, so if that is important to you (it shouldn't), look elsewhere. Both my PS3 and TiVo boxes have Netflix, Pandora, Rhapsody, Vulu, YouTube, Amazon, ...
Summary: This TV is not Internet-connected, so if that is important to you (it shouldn't), look elsewhere. Both my PS3 and TiVo boxes have Netflix, Pandora, Rhapsody, Vulu, YouTube, Amazon, Blockbuster streaming - so this is a moot point for me and most of you out there with up-to-date home theater setups. The picture is blow-your-socks-off amazing. Avatar on Blu-Ray is truly a transcendent experience. I highly recommend this set, especially at the amazing price!

AMAZINGLY AWESOME picture!
by popartpop on January 2, 2011
Pros: Price:$899 (open box buy)/Picture quality/Matt finish screen to eliminate glare/Ease of use/Styling: I call it the "Stelth" because of its simple black silloette/"1-2-3" easy set up/...did I mention PICTURE QUALITY!!!!!!!???...
Cons: Terrible speakers that are positioned REAR facing (hook this TV up to your sound system or sound bar!)...remote a bit small & buttons arent quite in the right place...but thats NOTHING compared to the pluses!
Summary: This TV ROCKS! If youre lucky to find it at such a steal as I did, concider yourself fortunate because its almost a $1600 value!...freakin' awesome TV!!!!!!!!

Great Flat Panel TV! Recommended! =D
by chiefenenz on December 23, 2010
Pros: Great picture (judder & blur not a problem). Deep Black. 120Hz. RGB Input. USB Input. Low price (got mine for $969.99 +tax). Easy to use features (once acquainted w/the remote). Easy access to Inputs. All the options you need and none you don't.
Cons: Audio Out only in Optical Format. Remote buttons are placed a bit weird & the signal seems week (have to point it right at the TV).
Summary: Was a bit irritated by the remote at first but you get used to it. Easy to setup. 10 mins. from box to power up.
