The good: Relatively inexpensive for a TV with a 240Hz refresh rate effect; accurate color; can separate antiblurring and dejudder functions; extensive picture settings; solid connectivity with four HDMI and one PC input; eye-catching styling.
The bad: Produces light black levels; somewhat uneven screen uniformity; benefits of 240Hz effect difficult to discern; glossy screen reflects ambient light.
The bottom line: Although subpar black levels keep it from besting the LCD champs, the Toshiba ZV650U series is still one of the better 240Hz values among TVs with a 240Hz effect.

Great Value for Phenomenal Picture Quality & Sound
by nt300 on March 15, 2010
Pros: Full HD 1080p resolution, Clearscan 240 Frame Conversion technology, 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 4 HDMI inputs and 2 HD component inputs, 240Hz Refresh Rate. Just to name a few. This HDTV has all the ingredients for fabulous Picture Quality.
Cons: Set picks up light reflection. Same for most LCD?s and LED?s due to clear glass panel. DynaLight backlight is somewhat noticeable when it auto switches the backlight to suite the films needs. I prefer this be turned off. Audio is only above average.
Summary: I?ve been watching free (1080i) OTA TV such as CBC HD, Global HD, CTV HD etc and it just looks fabulous. Blu-Ray and HD DVD looks jaw dropping gorgeous ...
Summary: I?ve been watching free (1080i) OTA TV such as CBC HD, Global HD, CTV HD etc and it just looks fabulous. Blu-Ray and HD DVD looks jaw dropping gorgeous in 1080p. I like the Auto View feature, it makes life very easy when watching movies or TV in the light or in the dark or a little mix of both such as having a fish tank light on. It enabled a great picture with deep blacks and character detail. The up-Converting looks much better with this TV set probably due to that new feature called Resolution+. I?ve gotten this set calibrated and it looks very close to the Auto View feature, so anybody wanting this HDTV calibrated should try out Auto View, it should give you the best possible PQ. The HDTV is easy to setup and use. The remote control is a little big but real easy to use and attractive looking. The TV?s onscreen setup instructions are easy follow and use. In closing, When it comes to Price/Performance, I believe this set has them all and is Hands Down one of the best HDTV?s I?ve seen. Sometimes when looking at the crystal clear screen makes me think I am looking at a Plasma HDTV. In my honest opinion, this TV almost passes as a flat out Panasonic Plasma. Look out Expensive Sony Bravias because Toshiba has a HDTV formula that seems to be working very very well. And as the title states, Great Value for Phenomenal Picture Quality & Sound! Toshiba 47ZV650U picture settings I use for Movie, the rest I use Auto View!!!

Product Features
With its sleek Deep Lagoon design, this ZV650 series LCD TV redefines beauty both inside and out. From fast-action movies to the latest games, every image will be razor-sharp thanks to:
Full HD 1080p resolution
Clearscan 240 Frame Conversion technology
100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
4 HDMI inputs and 2 HD component inputs
Resolution Plus+
For high-speed action, Clearscan 240 combines 120 frames per second with an advanced backlight scanning technology to create a 240Hz effect, so scenes are clearer than ever. PixelPure 5G 14 bit video processing helps produce smoother, lifelike images, while Resolution+ works to improve standard definition content.
Day or night, you'll enjoy picture-perfect images. The AutoView feature sets the TV picture parameters, so the picture is optimized for your lighting conditions. And CrystalCoat stops ambient room light reflections from washing out the picture, creating 30% better contrast in bright rooms.
Finally, this series features a Gaming/Native mode for better gaming, a USB port and SD card slot that let you enjoy your digital files right on the 47" display, and Dolby Volume which ensures consistent sound quality when changing channels. Plus, this LCD HDTV has an Energy Star 3.0 rating.

4 YEARS AND STILL GOING STRONG
by ALaudani on April 26, 2013
Pros: The picture is great. Plenty of adjustment options in the menu to capture the style and look you are trying to view. 240Hz refresh rate gives me crisp clear video without any motion blur. Great sound from build in speakers.
Cons: Unable to max out on the PC inputs resolution but if you computer has a HDMI output you can connect it and get at least 1080p and just not use the PC input. Not the worst but not that great viewing darks and shadows.
Summary: I have the Toshiba REGZA 47ZV650U and love the tv. I had the tv for about 4 years now and have not had 1 problem with it yet. I use ...
Summary: I have the Toshiba REGZA 47ZV650U and love the tv. I had the tv for about 4 years now and have not had 1 problem with it yet. I use the tv everyday because I use it both as a tv and my computer monitor via HDMI. I even leave it on for hours sometimes overnight and still, 4 years later, as good as it was when I first purchased it. I would easily recommend this tv over many of the higher end models.

Do not recommend...
by lrg51 on April 15, 2011
Pros: Great picture
Cons: Lasted 1 yr and screen went south with ghostly images and verticle line down right side about 5" in from edge of panel. I paid major league dollars for this set. Expected screen replacement and got it. Then... no kidding... same problem 6-8 months later.
Summary: Recommend against buying... Notice a lot of these reconditioned units on the web... Wonder why?

Don't Buy Any Toshiba TV - No Life Expectancy
by GarydeeUSA on April 5, 2011
Pros: Was nice for the first 28 months
Cons: Don't expect to get the stated life expectancy out of it.

Summary: First, one line of dead pixels across the bottom, 3 months later then two. About the same time, the sound started degrading. Two more months, now flickering; top half screen dark, bottom bright - flicker, flicker. A total waste of money. I have had two Toshiba laptops and was impressed with the build, and even a Toshiba 32" Tube TV lasted 8 years, not too bad. - Apparently the LCD-TV division quality is sub-par at best. Big issues with the screens. Save yourself the aggravation.
