Summary: I got this TV recently after realizing that a 40 inch non-internet TV would not keep me satisfied all through 2012 while I dedicate that time to pay off all my debt minus my car. I had a few things in mind when looking for a TV, it had to be notably larger than my 40 inch, it needed at least 3 HDMI and 1 AV component, and it needed to have built in wifi with if nothing else the netflix app. This TV did all those things and more and it looks and sounds great.
While ruffling through all of the interwebs I found a few deals for this model but there was always some discrepency or it was refurbished or so on and so forth. I would have done these deals but I don't trust anything refurbished if it's like a TV or something similar and I also couldn't find a ground stand since one of them was nice and cheap but missing a stand and had a modification to its back panel.
Yal want a review right? Sorry I got distracted. The menu is intuitive, the internet apps are as well. There are lots of options for customizing energy, sound, and display settings. The picture is very sharp and there are also lots of settings for setting the frequency rate. Starting with this sentence it has been 2 days since I started the review and came back to it lol sorry got distracted again. Back on topic, the size itself is GREAT. If you were like me thinking it had to be one of those 70 inch models to be "big" and take up a portion of your wall, you were wrong, like me. This thing is like 2 really big and old tube TVs put beside each other but bigger and wider.
I'm not sure if that is accurate or makes it sound smaller than you were thinking, but I assure you it is quite large, it's no 70 inch, but put this against any wall in your house with a couch or bed on the other side of the room, you know like 15-20 feet away, and it's still huge and you can easily play video games or watch tv/movies and it's like you were pretty close to it. If that doesn't do it justice, just visualize the mathematics of it, that's nearly 5 feet from corner to corner... quite large.
Back to the specs. It has many inputs for pretty much everything minus an SV connection. Not a problem unless you have an older laptop without an HDMI port. It's great for hooking up your laptop and watching video files since this TV only shows pictures and plays music (mp3 possibly mp4) off a USB memory device.
Not sure I'm doing any good besides rambling on at this point. To cap off then I guess, if you can afford this TV and are looking for a "BIG" TV with internet access and apps and all the connections you will need (minus SV), do yourself a favor and grab it, you will not be disappointed.
My advice, before you will buy the VIZIO E552VL, I suggest check for best deal at: lcdhdtvs2012.wordpress.com/vizio-e552vl/
