The good: The Vizio E601i-A3 is an outstanding value as the least expensive LED TV of its size that also offers Smart TV. Its picture boasts highly accurate color and very good bright-room performance. Plenty of Smart content is on hand within a responsive interface, and the QWERTY remote makes searches and other Smart TV actions easier. With its thin bezel, the set has a more compact, sleeker look than many competitors.
The bad: The E1i-A3's picture can't match the black-level performance of some competing LED TVs, and suffers from some uniformity issues. Its Smart TV interface design seems a bit dated and cumbersome.
The bottom line: The Vizio E601i-A3 is the best value yet among big-screen LED TVs.

Very happy with our purchase

Wireless internet connectivity works pretty well.

Summary: My wife and I were in the market for a new TV, and after going to the store and looking at half a hundred different models, we settled on the Vizio 60" LED Smart TV.
I'm not gonna lie, it didn't have the same picture quality as a Samsung or Sony of the same size and type (LED/LCD/etc), but we wanted a larger tv as our couch is fairly far from our entertainment center, and we weren't willing to break our bank to get a better model.
That said - without having the Samsung or Sony immediately next to the Vizio for comparison, I am absolutely thrilled with the picture quality. This may be partially due to the fact that we were able to tinker with the picture settings, unlike the store display model which was on the factory default settings.
We watched some South Park (not like that's a good way to judge picture quality, but whatever) and some Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I was unsure about our purchase, however, until we turned off the lights and watched a handful of episodes of Game of Thrones with my sister. The increased contrast you get with an LED tv was immediately apparent - the white wall shining clearly behind the men of the Night's Watch, clad in black. The picture was absolutely stunning through the 4 episodes we watched.
The SmartTV functionality works exactly as I'd expected, and it's very convenient not to have to power up the Wii every time we want to watch something on Netflix. I read some reviews which stated that the remote and its keyboard on the back side felt cheaply made, though this was not my experience. The remote wasn't anything special, but I don't feel like it will break if I drop it or handle it roughly.
The only con to this TV is that the sound quality of the built-in speaker is not good. However, if you're spending ~$1000 on a 60" tv, you likely have already invested in an external sound solution. If not, you'll want to spend a couple hundred bucks on a decent stereo sound system.
Another thing to note is that I'm writing this review the day after we purchased it, and as this line of TVs from Vizio only came out last October, it's hard for anyone to really comment on their longevity. For this reason, my wife and I opted for our retailer's 4-year extended warranty plan, but I will update this review in 3 months and again in 6 months or as soon as I encounter any issues with the product.
My Advice: Before you will buy this TV, I suggest you have to check for low price at: Smartledhdtvs.blogspot.com/p/vizio-e601i-a3.html
In the end, I couldn't be happier with my purchase and wanted to add my voice to the others who say that this TV is the best 60" LED tv for the price.5 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Pros: Pretty good audio quality and excellent image quality producing good black level. This HDTV has very accurate color and good performance for a great price. Great for watching movie or gaming during daytime and nighttime.
Cons: The sound quality is not as good as home theater system.

Large; economical; amazing picture and features
by slinke on November 3, 2012
Pros: - Big and bright; nice color; matte screen for bright rooms
- 4 HDMI inputs
- Thin and very attractive minimalist glossy black frame <1" wide
- Built-in WiFi and DLNA (CNET review is wrong); most of the popular subscription-based smart appsCons: - Still some glare in bright room
- Only one shared composite/component input
- Slightly gray blacks, but insignificant
- Possible delay that cause very slight lip sync issue
- Dedicated remote buttons for services

Summary: Very happy so far with the E601i-A3. While the remote only allows input switching by progressing through all inputs, the TV accepts discrete commands for each of the inputs. This allows much better control with universal remotes like the Logitech Harmony series (use the discrete commands from the Vizio VF550M). It is also very interesting to note that, while the feature list does not include picture-in-picture (PIP) or picture "freeze," those commands from the VF550M also work on this model.
The TV failed only a couple of weeks after being installed. It began going black for a few seconds at random times, and a week or so later it stayed black. I now have to wait 8 days for a repair person to come. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Summary: I LOVE this tv. It was a great deal for a 60" and the picture looks awesome. I am very happy with my purchase. However, after digging around on the support site, I happened to find this page buried in the Q&A section: https://vizio.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/962/kw/vizio%20e601i%20firmware
They have identified specific serial numbers that have defective hardware that will cause the video to go out within about a month of use. Luckily, my serial was not in the range they provided, so I HOPE my tv will not have this issue. They have extended the warranty for a year for this specific issue and will repair for free...but still a huge hassle. I know I never want to have to take this tv off the wall after the hell I had trying to put it up there (I was too stubborn/stupid to wait for help from a friend and did it myself). If you do decide to purchase, check the serial first! -
This is my first flat-screen and it is a great value!
by spootier on January 18, 2013
Pros: Easy to use, very helpful, SmartTV functions. Matte screen, which is perfect for the high levels of ambient light. Great size! Very thin and light. Set up was very simple and quick. I love the QWERTY key pad on the back...it's very useful!
Cons: The screen definition and color is very nice, but not what you'd get on a Plasma or more expensive TV, but there's a big price to pay for that better picture. The speaker quality is poor, so plan on buying some external speakers of some sort.
Summary: Excellent picture, great size and great value.

Everything I Needed x 2
by hashref on November 15, 2012
Pros: • Price
• 4 HDMI inputs
• QWERTY Keyboard on back of remote
• 60"
• Great high definitionCons: • As another reviewer said, sketchy pedestal.
• SmartTV functionality is kind of lame, but useable.
• Its light for a 60" but the size of the screws for wallmounting are a bit small for my liking.Summary: An older 52" Samsung went died on me so I went to check out new TVs. I ran across a review on this TV on another site that encouraged me ...
Summary: An older 52" Samsung went died on me so I went to check out new TVs. I ran across a review on this TV on another site that encouraged me to head out to Costco to check it out. It looked great and at 980 bucks it seems like a steal. I already needed a new TV for my den so I picked up a second one about a week later. The SmartTV functionality is not that great but I think the Netflix app is better than whats on the Xbox. but I could care less about the Smart functionality. I look for Smart functionality in devices I connect to it, like a blueray player or Roku.
Maybe this isn't for the HD enthusiasts but I think the picture is an upgrade from my Samsung I bought in 2007. -
A good TV with customer issues
by Charlie199 on October 30, 2012
Pros: Amazing picture at a great price ($979.99 from Costco)
Cons: Potential Safety hazard. Much too easy to tip over due to very small pedestal (18"). Oh, and if it falls over it is not warranty.
After 3 other Vizio TV's this one has no free air channel guide.Summary: While the price and the picture are great some of the customer useability has been lost.
This is our 4th Vizio product and that sets the stage for certain expectations. ...Summary: While the price and the picture are great some of the customer useability has been lost.
This is our 4th Vizio product and that sets the stage for certain expectations. In two instances this product fell short.
For those of use that want to place the TV on a cabinet be aware that the pedestal is barely adequate for the job. My old sets had pedestals that were at least half the width of the screen and provided a stable platform. The E601i-A3 has an 18" pedestal attached with 3 screws. No matter how tight the screws the TV rocks side to side and front to back. When Support was asked about a possible wall anchor (not a wall mount) to help secure the TV from tipping their response was they offered no options either with the set or at some extra charge. You are on your own.
A feature I had on my old Vizio's and was surprised not to find on this one is a free air digital channel guide. All that's left is a little info bar in the upper right corner that identifies only the channel/program you are on. According to Support Chat it doesn't matter which set you buy Vizio no longer provides this very useful feature at any price.
Not the customer oriented company I'd come to appreciate. -
BEWARE! Internet TV without the Internet

Summary: How do you have a "smart" or "internet" TV and remove the capability of browsing the web? No built in browser makes this TV a joke. I spoke with Vizio support and they suggested buying their $99 set top box that turns a normal TV into an "internet" TV using the Google Chrome browser. Extremely dissapointing that they would not provide the same capability built in to their "internet" TVs. The only access to the internet is the built in apps for paid services such as Hulu Plus and Vudu. However, when streaming video, the picture and sound are out of synch.
