*Total price for the Vizio E701i-A3 are estimated and may vary slightly based on exact tax, shipping, manufacturer rebate or any sale/promotion on the merchant site.
The good: The Vizio E701i-A3 is an outstanding value as the least expensive LED TV of its size that also offers Smart TV. Its picture boasts highly accurate color and very good bright-room performance. Plenty of Smart TV content is on hand within a responsive interface, and the QWERTY remote makes searches and other Smart TV actions easier. With its thin bezel, the set has a more compact, sleeker look than many competitors.
The bad: The E1i-A3's picture can't match the black-level performance of some competing LED TVs, and suffers from some uniformity issues. Its Smart TV interface design seems a bit dated and cumbersome.
The bottom line: The Vizio E701i-A3 is the best value yet among 70-inch LED TVs.
Pros: Easy to navigate on screen menu system, 1 button press Amazon/Netflix/Web sites and it's real easy to setup accounts, TV remote has a keyboard on the back for entering info on Web pages - there is an onscreen keyboard as well, Price vs. other brands.
Cons: Viewing angle varies when viewed greater than 30 degrees off center, You need to Download PDF manual as only a quick start manual is included, The provided stand is not the sturdiest.

Summary: I bought this TV at a higher price point and I would say its still a great value for the money. I was able to compare it side by side with other 70 TV's by Sharp and Samsung at Costco when I purchased mine. Given the price differential of the other TV's it was very easy to spring for this Vizio. This comes from someone who would never have considered purchasing a Vizio before.
Picture quality out of the box is close to optimal with presets and custom slot that are easily accessed and modifiable. There's the basic controls and then Advanced controls that allow you alter Size/Position Color Temp and more Advanced Picture options that effect performance. Watching BluRay movies - Wow
Now the viewing angle .. it is very impressive straight on to about 30 degrees. At 45 degrees off center the picture begins to lighten slightly. It's subtle but its there. At 70 degrees its noticeably lighter. This becomes more obvious in dark scenes less so in balanced lit scenes.
Amazon and Netflix ready for Streaming video I setup my Amazon account to stream video using a wired connection and setup was straight forward. TV shows or movies purchased appear within a few menu selections and you simply cue what you want to watch and play - the pause rewind, fast fwd on the remote control playback.
All the featured Web sites are easy to set up Twitter, YouTube: watched my uploaded videos at 70" was nice. Facebook was less like the PC experience - I wasn't able to see a feed of my friends status updates but I was able to access my picture albums and update my status.
Can't say enough about the 4 HDMI connections. A port for Ethernet Cable for direct connection to the Internet (My TV's firmware was already updated once so far). Digital Audio out or RCA outs as well as components and coaxial connector. Two USB ports round it out.
Sound is adequate but nothing to spend too much time writing about.
The base this TV attaches to shouldn't be considered as a long term solution. The sheer weight of the TV makes it easy to rock on the base. I could see a good enough bump or quake easily damaging the base possibly leading to the TV damaging or possibly breaking the mount.
Other notes Picture control settings are good, but it may require some experimenting to get just the right balance. This TV replaces a 6 year old 50" Plasma Panasonic Viera. Given the off center viewing was perfect on the Panasonic, that is the only feature it has over this Vizio. No 3D support and I could care less - I'm glad that TV manufacturers can keep costs low by eliminating features few people actually use, and I suggest you have to check for low price of this TV at: ledsmarthdtvdeals.blogspot.com/p/vizio-e701i-a3.html
Pros: PRICE,PRICE, & PRICE! Great picture with "very thin bezel" for getting more tv for the money.
Cons: not a one! don't see how Vizio is able to sell such a stunningly beautiful,featured-loaded set for that price!

Summary: CNET's over-all rating of this 70" Vizio was pretty accurate save for the following 2 observations. While at Cotsco over the weekend I got a chance to see this set along side the 70" Sharp 6 series (non-quattron & 120hz) and Sharp's top of the line 8 series. As I stood for the better part of half an hour looking at various content, which of course was indentical on both sets, I noticed "beyond a shadow of doubt" that the 70" Vizio showed more detail than both Sharp models in virtually every scene when it came to grains of sand, facial hair, carpet strands,snow-fall; and even waves on the ocean! And the colors had "more punch" than both Sharp models also! CNET editors also stated that the black levels were not as pronounced on the Vizio as on the Sharp sets but I honestly could not see any difference. And another thing that caught my sharp eyes was that with the thinner bezel on the Vizio I saw "more picture content" than any other model save for the Samsung which a 65-70 incher would cost you BIG at nearly double to 6 times the price! I have the 60" 847 Sharp currently but desire a 70" to be thoroughly immersed in the home theatre experience and this 70" Vizio will be in my home come next week at a "ridiculously low price"(steal!) of $1,548 at Cotsco! Don't need/care for 3D and to be perfectly honest 120hz looks better than 240hz! Used the 240hz at home and picture darkened.I love the so-called soap-opera, filmlike effect which makes the picture look crystal-clear.And folks if you think about it,the new ultra-hd sets coming out later this year with nearly double the 1080p rate at I'm sure will be priced at well over $10,ooo how much clarity can one actually see? Your eyes/brain can only perceive so much clarity! Said all of this to say "when is enough is enough?" So to make a truly long story short, the 70" Vizio is THE ABSOLUTE BEST DEAL ON THIS HERE PLANET "BAR NONE" AND YOU SHOULD GO PURCHASE IT ASAP! sincerely, ebonyflash
Pros: Great Price, Very Good Picture Quality after adjusting settings, Great Blacks and 4 HDMI imputs. Great for Blue Ray DVD's Very Thin Profile Qwerty Keyboard remote.
Cons: Smart Interface seems dated but ok.
Summary: Anyone looking for a big screen TV for a great price with should look at the Vizio lineup.
