Pros: sweet high teck look number of functions availiable for programing
Cons: rudder incorperated in the flight stick vs throttle. Stick with the x45 for combat flight sims. Maybe they will be releasing a x55 modle in the future that will put the rudders back where they belong.
Pros: Great Idea, lots of buttons, two rotary controls and a slider... seems solidly built
Cons: rotary controls and slider, cannot actually function as such (read below), awkward programming software

Summary: Basically, I bought this joystick last night and returned it tonight. I previously owned the X45 and guess what, I returned that one too a few days later. I only thought that maybe they had fixed their retarded problem. I can see where maybe others would like it, but I am a pilot, I bought this joystick FOR THE ROTARY AND SLIDER CONTROLS. These are actually more for show if you ask me. In flight simulator 2004, you go into programming buttons and such. You set the big rotary control to mixture for example. It detects it and shows the axis. When you actually go into the flight though, it does nothing. The only thing you can do with them is set certain band widths in the rotation to act as certain key strokes, can someone convince me the usefullness of that please? I guess since the one reason i bought it turned out to be a flawed system kind of screws me up on it, if those controls did what they should, i would not be writing this review, i would be flying, but i decided to buy a normal Logitech extreme 3D pro. P.S. I was replacing a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision pro that is 6 years old basically to the month, it has been beaten around somewhat and it still works fine... i'm just commenting on that because of the replacement plans they offer at certain stores... a good joystick shouldnt need it, and I'm only replacing the microsoft because it's starting to get pretty shaky around the midpoints (old).
Summary: Overall, a very good joystick for FS, although on some planes, the rudder needs to be recalibrated. The software is a bulky mess, although it is not necessary.

Description:Made of precision-engineered, top quality materials, the X52 includes a mass of features to create the most realistic flying experience. The Throttle includes Multi-Function display (MFD) indicating profile selection, Mode, control Shift state, as well as time; flight time, standard time, destination time, and set up moves; the progressive throttle lever includes tension adjustment, detents for afterburner and idle; and the unit houses two fire buttons, scroll wheel with built-in button, mouse controller/hat switch with left mouse button, eight-way hat switch, and two rotary controls. There is also a clutch button which initiates 'safe mode' to allow on-the-fly profile selection, or to display button functionality without activating. The Joystick is built around non-contact technology on X and Y axes and constant spring force to reduce free play, improve control and increase durability. The unit features a 2-stage metal trigger, four fire buttons - including missile launcher with spring-loaded safety cover for instant access - and a conveniently positioned metal pinkie switch provides shift functionality to double up on programmable commands. There are two 8-way hat switches - one predefined as 'point of view' - 3D rudder twist and a three-position rotary mode selector switch with LED indicators. The base also includes three spring-loaded, base-mounted toggle switches for up to 6 programmable flight commands and a 5-position handle adjustment system to suit all hand sizes. Both stick and throttle have rubber grips and ergonomic design for increased comfort and fatigue-free gaming and part metal construction for increased durability and authenticity.
