The good: The Sony DualShock 2 Analog Controller is extremely responsive, has excellent force-feedback and is probably the most natural-feeling controller available.
The bad: It's wired, and it's not the most durable controller you'll ever use. Also, the d-pad isn't designed very well.
The bottom line: Sony's DualShock 2 Analog Controller stands as the best of its generation and the blueprint for almost every controller released since.
Cons: Nasty analog sticks, poor button sensitivity, hard on hands in prolonged use

Summary: I've used this controller for five years now and it is definitely not what I would call the best. First of all, it is small, light, and has very easy to remember buttons(why we remember shapes better than numbers, I don't know?). But there are so many design flaws to this seemingly good controller. First of all, the analog sticks are hard to grip and easily broken. There really should be an inward design for better grip. Also, button sensitivity id not great, it feels downright crude compared to the Xbox's triggers and GC's shoulder buttons. Not only that, but it hurts your hands in prolonged use. An ok but not great controller.

Summary: I don't know what you are talking about CNET. I love the D-Pad. The new PS3 controller is awesome. If it only had motion-sensing and rumble it would be the ultimate controller. But if it did have both, how would they improve it for the next generation?
Description:The standard controller for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, the DUALSHOCK 2 analog controller delivers a more intuitive gaming experience, with pressure sensitivity on every action button (up to 255 levels of sensitivity!) and the enhanced mobility of the analog thumbsticks. So, accelerate, decelerate, and maneuver through a course with surgical precision or unlock even more fighting moves and secret weapons. Either way, the DUALSHOCK 2 revolutionizes the way games are played. This controller is compatible with any game, including PlayStation format software, that supports digital control, analog control, vibration function and/or pressure sensitive function, and on any system including the PlayStation game console and the PS one console; however, pressure-sensitive button features work only with the PlayStation 2 system.
