Cool features - but unreliable.
by krisciunas on August 29, 2006
Pros: Auto lap at distance or time intervals; customizable screens
Cons: Takes too long to find satellites; Horrible reliabilty -- 2 broke within 75 days

The functionality is very good - tracking courses, distance, pace, time, speed, laps... about 20 parameters logged. Its got multiple training and history modes. The distance, time and auto lap functions were most useful. Screens are customizable.
It takes minutes to locate satellites. I realized that the sync time was shorter if I took the watch off and left it still on the ground outside while I stretched.
However I rate the unit so poorly because of reliability. My first unit died after about 2 weeks of use -- hissed then went dead. I got a replacement that lasted about 45 days, then the battery stopped working. The device says its charged, but goes blank as soon as I disconnect the charger.
Overall, this is a great concept, but it doesn't seem like the product is ready for prime time. I'm returning it and waiting for the next generation.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best exercise device I ever bought

Summary: This is simply an amazing product. Since buying it, I am getting a much better workout running. First, I know exactly how far I have run, I can see what my best mile pace was, it will keep a running pace for you. You can program a virtual running partner to keep pace with. It is not much bigger than a digital watch. The sync with the PC is very easy. All in all, a good way to make sure that you are honest with yourself about how you are running.

Awesome device that will aide you on your journey
by covolor on August 27, 2006

Summary: Well I never really wanted a GPS or any other kind of device to give me feed back.. Until I had a running buddy that had one. I found myself always asking pace, time per mile, and so on.
I quickly became dependent on this information. It will aide you in becoming a better long distance runner. But here's what I don’t like so far:
The auto pause feature is nice, but every time you lose the satellite signal then it pauses. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but it leaves gaps and it doesn't count that into the over all mileage. I went on a 15.7 mile run and the device only counted 14 of it. This also could be due to a little user error on my part because it was the first time I ran with it.
All in all it’s a great device that can help you improve. The only thing is if you don't like knowing all your information then it's not for you (trust me, I still like and hate all the feed back). If you want to get off your normal trail or run and still count the miles, this product is for you.
When it really comes down to it, technology can't make you a better runner, you have to do it on your own. This can aide you on your journey of running and that's it.
I say if your looking for some feed back on the fly then this device will be great. But remember it can over count and under count. All in all I like the device and that’s why I purchased it to aide me in my long runs.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Not Mac friendly.....software for this watch
by videophooba on February 24, 2006
Pros: nice styling and features
Cons: Nor Mac Friendly software
Summary: In this day and age a company such as Garmin would know that some of their customers use Macs. Its a deal buster and makes the product less useful.
