  Too many back roads!

  Pros: Fast to load, accurate address locator.

  Cons: I "upgraded" from a Magellan. The Magellan had the feature that immediately prompted you for most use or less use of freeways. The Garmin has faster time or shorter distance.

  Summary: When I know where I am going, I usually select faster time thinking that it will keep on a freeway. Nope! No difference between shorter or faster. So off on country roads it goes. I know a freeway entrance is 5 miles down the road and it tries to make me take back streets. Called tech support after I downloaded the updates and maps. The tech was very helpful and we walked through things like checking avoidances. He turned on a unit at his location and punched the two places I go often. the quickest, and safest, route is the freeway. His unit showed it. Then, so did mine. Today I turn it back on and it has me going down side streets! Last week I went on a 200 mile trip and instead of taking me from one freeway to another, it took me on 40 mile jaunt through little towns. Anyone else have this problem??? It is exasperating!

  Did the job . . . with some problems

  Pros: I've used the Garmin Nuvi 1350 GPS for a month, including a road trip through the west coast states and Canada.

  - GPS works well most of the time - I found it easy to follow with clear voice annunciation of upcoming turns. The GPS did "get lost" wh

  Cons: - Updating the unit's maps is a hassle. First, you need to buy a USB-miniUSB cable specifically for data. To get the current maps and device software you must download a proprietary Garmin Communicator Plugin to your computer. The plugin is problematic on

  - Their search and points-of-interest references are woefully out of date. For example, when searching for fuel stations it listed numerous locations that have been CLOSED FOR OVER A DECADE. I also found their business search database to be very limited, usually showing the "spinning hourglass" for several minutes before I gave up.
  
  - The unit had several intermittent software bugs, like: toggling between full color maps and one color maps at random; mysteriously rebooting itself while driving; and occasionally telling me to take a meandering and time-consuming country road detour when there were much more direct and safer routes available.
  
  - The in-vehicle power cord plug makes a high-pitched squeal. I tried exchanging it twice and they all made the same noise. My car is quiet inside so I found this bothersome.
  
  - Battery life is short (less than three hours) when not plugged into a power source if you want to use it on a bicycle or on foot.
  
  - The display is impossible to read in direct sunlight.

  Nice GPS unit - I own 4 of them

  Pros: Good price for a pretty full featured unit. Screen size of 4.3 inches is plenty big and nice and bright. Turn lane feature is something I didn't have on my older Garmin. Shows the layout of the upcoming intersection so you're sure to get in the correct

  Cons: No output jack for audio. Can't plug into vehicle's MP3 port. Have to rely on internal speaker.

  Summary: I bought 3 of these for my kids' cars. All have worked flawlessly. No problems with overheating as mentioned in previous review. The touchscreen in my 3yr old Garmin unit went so I just bought another of the 1350's so now I have 4 and am very happy with this model.

  A Do Not Buy

  Pros: Clear and easy to follow directions. Good price and great the warrantee.

  Cons: A very good GPS system right up to the points that it shuts down until it cooled off. Garmin working with me in respect to the warrantee but I still have a unit that will shut down after 3 hours of operation.
