Finally something small, waterproof and with enough memory for an all day ride
Pros: I previously had a Garmin V which was nice but lacked a number of key features. Garmin have done a nice job of taking all of the good features of the Garmin V and then adding the features that were missing. With the V I often found myself thinking “this
Cons: Screen could be a little larger (although there is a limit on how big pocket sized items could be”. The extra features mean that the menu options are sometimes confusing and it would be nice if the unit did not have to be attached to the car power outlet

Summary: This unit is small and portable at a very acceptable price. So you have to download your maps. At this price its not a big deal for me. It was very user friendly out of the box. I was using it within minutes without reading a single direction. Does not block alot of windshield view if you mount it in a good location. And again great price!!

Summary: I love this unit. Clear, concise, accurate direction. I love the portability of this unit. I highly recommend ugrading to the latest firmware on Garmin's website. This was very easy to do. Works well in rainy, cloudy weather. Garmin appears to have the best mapping software after ready the competitor's reviews. This device works well cross country as it comes pre-loading with US base maps of all major highways. Just highlight the areas of interest that are traveling to.

Great Bang for the Buck.
Pros: Very easy to use. Route planning from the unit itself is a snap... That is, with proper maps installed. Detouring/adding side destinations is very easy. Short cut key are well thought out.
Cons: Included software (City Select) falls short for trip planning. Should inlcude a daily range. I.E. Miles/hours traveled per day. Base maps of major hi-ways etc. were incorrect. It had me enter AND exit the hi-way where there were no ramps. Thus making th

Summary: I bought this unit prior to a recent vacation that took me approximately 1000 miles round-trip, primarily through rural settings with very little city driving. Prior to leaving, I set up a route with several way points and it took me along the path that I selected. There was one minor problem, but it was operator error (because I did not zoom in enough when setting a way point which resulted in me getting off of the highway to reach the way point.) I quickly realized my mistake and the unit got me back on track. The overall experience on the way to my destination was positive and my wife found it simple to use and rather intuitive. My problem came on the way back home when the unit repeatedly attempted to route me off of my chosen route. I checked the settings on the system (fastest route, shortest distance, etc.) and my settings were in line with what seemed to be the most logical. I really found this to be frustrating and ultimately returned the unit because of this. Maybe I should have tried to download a newer firmware version, or further reviewed my settings and route, but I lost confidence in the product.
In addition, my wife commented that the screen, although bright was small. This comment, along with the fact that I was told that this unit has been discontinued, solidified my decision to return it.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Overall a very tight package. Windshield mount works great. The memory, 115mmb internal, is more than enough for a cross country trip. I loaded Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, most of west Texas, and Arizona under 100mmb(I know most of it is desert and mountains, but there are some very big cities in those states). The screen is easy to read, and the contols are very intuitive. The only way I see to make it better would be a little larger screen. I have truly enjoy this unit and will buy Garmin products in the future.

Nice Unit!
Pros: I was originally eyeing the TomTom Go unit but wanted something a little smaller to fit my needs. Only had it for a couple of weeks now so here’s what I’ve found so far. 1. Compact size: Small size means I have the ability to keep in one of my smaller sto
Cons: 1. Menu operation could be a little simpler – I am new to using it but this is my 1st impression so far. Once I RTFM and use it more it will all come together. 2. Internal memory is not expandable - Not a big deal to me so far but we’ll see when it comes

Summary: This item I run on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle I have traveled over 10,000 miles with it vibrating and shaking and in the pouring down rain. I will admit if it starts really coming down I try and take it off and pout in pocket but it was in some real real heavy rains before doing 75 mph and it did not miss a link. I don’t try and do this all the time but it has happened. I have had a few other Garmins III+ and a real real old one from years ago with no street level on them and I find this one very good and the battery seems to stay charged all day long after putting it on an AC charger in the evening I can ride all day with no troubles. Very good Item. I like it. I bought the Ram Mount for my bike to mount the item and it as well works very good. I just can not give anything a 10.

Excellent little GPS

Summary: The size is perfect for switching from car to car and then going on foot. Although the screen size may be and issue with some it doesn't bother me. The battery life is excellent if your on foot and the car charger/speaker(for voice prompts, which all other handheld don't offer) that is included works well. Satellite reception is excellent, no problems that I have had. I looked at a lot of hanhelds and PDA styles.I tried the Navman Pin, it is a poor excuse for a gps. It was way to delicate to be using it for diverse applications. Stick to Garmin or magellan. Memory leaves a lot to be desired I wish it had a memory expansion slot. 115mb internal memory, I have it loaded to the gills. The new quest will not have this limitation but it is also over 650.00. All in all it's a hardy little unit and I am very pleased with it.
